How did you discide all those years ? color / texture of the oil or miles / hours ? i myself go by when the oil changes from amber to black .. and feels slightly thin, between your finger tips, but as stated .. it won't hurt to change it more often .. least not the engine, just the wallet.... i never go with those meters ... reminds of those dummy oil lights on the dash.. once they flash, that's all she wrote.

I have always changed it at the prescribed intervals in the manual. Just thought I would get opinions from the experts.

change the oil and oil filter, make sure to not install the oil filter backwards !..lol.

Hahahaha!! That will never happen. Been changing my own for 35 years. Have heard of it happening though 😂.

  3. Just got home yesterday from 10 days at the hunting shack. Fabulous weather, saw almost 90 ruffed grouse and shot our limits. Had a moose and bear with cubs on the trail cam. Will upload when I get time. Also got in some painting, filled the wood shed, some target shooting and some beautiful joy riding. Heading back in the morning for 4 more days.

  4. For you expert mechanics - I have a 2015 Rubicon FA7 with 3600 miles on it. I have always used Amsoil engine oil and Honda oil filters on my machines (full synthetic). I have always followed the recommended oil change intervals pretty close. My question is this - I changed the oil this summer and have done more riding than usual. Very little dust, mostly in the woods. Indicator say's it's time for a change. Does it really need to be changed that often with synthetic or just do the filter?

about on average ... what's the weight ... of a zilla compaired to a xl of like size ?

Don't quote me but when I got them I seem to remember it was at least 8# per tire. Don't have time to look it up right now as I'm going to my hunting shack for 10 days and no cell.

this has to be one in a million ...

I've seen that happen a couple times from semi's. Never in a position to get a picture. Couple years ago I was next to one hauling logs that looked to be in poor repair and was slowly passing him. All of the sudden I heard a loud crack. Looked in the passenger side mirror and saw one of the trailer tires off and right between us. I hammered the gas pedal, the wheel crossed 3 lanes, through a deep ditch, jumped the railroad tracks and out into the Mississippi River. Then the one next to it came off, ran a couple hundred yards down the road, though the right hand ditch, went airborne into a house and bounced 30' back into an oak tree. Then the guy pulled over. Luckily traffic was light or someone would have gotten killed. I'm sure the highway patrol tore him a new one.

  7. I found this old stove at a very old logging camp site. Found it disassembled laying in the grass. Missing legs, the top insert and the draft pan. Really cool looking. Took 6 years to have a good enough freeze without a ton of snow to get it out. Assembled it this summer. Besides the design the only marking on it is New King No. 36. Can't find anyone who knows anything about the company that made it.

Prov , that cabin looks really nice , got a pic of the outside ??

Only pic I have right now. Shop runs full length and the whole works is 2x6 and insulated. 900 square feet on a slab, two bedrooms and one main room. 14' steel roofed awning the whole width in back. 2x6 - 16" center's. Second picture is my shack. Built the first part over 40 years ago when I was 20. Added on and put on covered deck in 2003. Second and third pictures were taken one day apart early October. Brought a portable fish house up for a heated shower house.

My grandfather use to have the stove going in winter with a big pot of water boiling all the time on top , he use to say it put humidity back into the air which the stove took out

It does help put humidity back. It can get dry in the room when burning. It's from the flue pulling humidified air out and colder, drier air from outside coming in. With 5 gallons of water in there it doesn't really boil but does get very hot.

that's old school ... lol ... been there before ... at least say you wash the dishes 1st!  lol

Saves propane. We use bag showers outdoors. Might build an enclosure sometime. Can be refreshing showering in the snow. We can only get to my hunting shack by wheeler so gotta innovate.

we had a couple of those in tobacco stripping rooms ... sadly they ended being stolen ... but those old cast iron burners are great! the damper really helps ... regelated the rate of burn.. and helps hold the heat in the burner .. i see y'all's has a thermostat ... i like that.

    Actually that's a stovepipe thermometer.

  12. It's a Jotul 118. Made between '76 to '83. Really nice enamel finish and there is a baffle plate between the main box and the upper. Rake coals to the front, load wood. As it burns it's way to the rear on the door edge of the wood the gasses travel forward past the baffle and then to the pipe outlet at the back of the stove. Very efficient. Here's a nicer picture.

  13. We have 28 degrees out right now and the maples are bright red. Fall seems to be about 10 days or more ahead up here. This should kill the last of the mosquitoes. Hunting season Saturday!!! I love this time of year.
