that would close to a record around here, biggest, I've heard of here, was 220 lbs dressed, 14 pointer shot with a 270, hunters had been trying for years to bag him, they even named him mossy nuts. Donny rich, ended up getting him, a friend of mine, Donny Rich ended up bagging him. i saw him once, talk about a monster buck!

You guys might develop bigger racks but as you move north average size increases. True for a lot of species.

  3. We had 65 and 70 degree days this weekend followed by 40 degrees and heavy rain yesterday. Dropped to 20 last night and froze everything. Saw a huge buck at night but almost nobody has seen one during the day. They will get moving sometime. Going back to camp Thursday. This was the buck I got last year. Last pic is the biggest one I ever shot.

Good luck. I have some cousins going up on the Vermilion River where they have a cabin for opening weekend.

Those guys might even have more timberwolves than we do if that's possible. One of your cousins doesn't happen to live in Lindstrom, Mn does he?

  5. Off to the hunting shack tomorrow. Deer season opens Saturday in northern Minnesota for two weeks. Gonna be too warm the first two days. The snow melted and I was raking leaves and cleaning gutters today with no shirt on. Increased the size of my woodshed by 50%, filled it and probably won't even need a fire until Monday.

i wonder if it was the car tag, hauling a >>>Polaris<<<  or the snow mobile ? hope they got nailed for each offence. ESPECALLY the Polaris.

Believe it or not they didn't get a ticket for hauling it that way. Got citations for not wearing seatbelt and had not registered the car title yet after he bought it.🙄

Yes I use the same tires year around -- see my tires in my signature (8 ply) I get two years or better with the same screws. -- great on ice covered road & trails -- I was using they were a pain in the ***  I remove the studs when winter is over.

Melatv, have you ever had any pull out or do they just get worn?

  8. I don't know anyone around here that chains up all four. I've never had damage to my machines and never heard of anyone else having problems. A set of two is around $80 at our local fleet store. Peerless is what they carry. You want V-bar for sure. Plain chain doesn't work. If you have deep lug tires you will want the ones that cross the tire tread in a diamond pattern to keep them from going between the lugs.

  9. Heading to the hunting shack for another six days. Got another 3" of snow yesterday but it's wet and settled quite a bit. Haven't plowed yet. Just packing it down over the gravel for a base. 30's during the day, high 20's at night. Haven't seen a bug in three weeks.😁

  10. Got another 4" of snow so far today and it's gonna go until about 1am. Then they are saying another 4"-8" on Thursday. Gonna make for an interesting week of hunting. We got good food, whiskey and a hot sauna so should be fine. My Zilla tires really shine in this crap.

I'm still looking though like I said by the time the Stemulas check and bonus money comes, heck I may build a CJ7 one peace at a time in my driveway.

I take it you don't work as a financial planner for a living..... like the others mentioned, I wouldn't rely on a stimulus check.🙄

  12. I'm not complaining at all. No bugs, no sweating standing still and very little humidity. I would be a happy man if it never got above 70 degrees. If it's 20 degrees and little or no wind we consider it a nice day to fish on the ice without a shelter. My buddy in the picture is a furnace. I have to have sleeves.

Well here’s what I did. But, I got it to the stairs and unhooked the cart and slid down my 6 stairs like a sled and then yanked it into the basement. Then picked it back up with the hand cart.
If I did it again I’d have a horizontal strap around the bottom of the stove and cart and use the wheels to ease it down each step like hauling a barrel of beer down stairs. Mine rig worked good for two guys. Three would have been in the way and myself would have lost it down the stairs.
going up is a different animal.  I suggest putting a hole in your roof and renting a crane.
realistically if you have room, I’d rig up a ramp and winch it/come-along up the stairs. But I don’t know your situation.

When we moved ours we took off the doors and any other removable heavy parts and firebrick. My son and I picked it up and carried it. I don't know why you would want to fight all the extra weight by hauling it in fully assembled like that.
