  1. @ATC4ever a new frame? Was it rusted out?

I've been working on my '97 SS S10. Been a huge money pit to say the least. Bought it not running 8 years ago, after a fuel pump it was running. Replaced all the front brakes, hoses, rotors, and backing plates. Rebuilt the front suspension. Motor blew up, pulled it out, got the trans rebuilt as it was on its way out, everything on the motor went back new, rebuilt a motor and hopped it up a little. Broke a valve spring along with a few other problems.

Pulled it out and put a lower mileage(110k) 4.3 that had 2 or 3 bad valves in 1 head.  Picked up a newer set of heads from a local shop friend and re-gasketed and new GM timing cover for the engine. Got it all back together a few weeks ago. Threw away my y pipe because I had a 98 pipe I though would work. it won't and I am having a time finding a 96 or 97 that is getting parted out.

  2. We went rounds with Charter cable years ago. Our house is off the road a good bit and they said they couldn't run the cable to our house because the quality would be reduced. When I made the statement that yall run cable thousands  of miles down the road and it is fine, I got no response other than " we cant do it" Very next day a tech that was in the area came by and asked if we wanted cable. I told him what had just happened and he looked confused. He said that we would probably have to get the cable ran up to the closest pole but they would connect it. I wasn't spending that money. We dumped Direct TV when the prices kept going up. We have had Century link for phone and internet for years now and I have no complaints. Hulu, Netflix, and Motortrend, and Prime is more than we can ever watch.

  3. @LedFTed, I have one of those faces that speaks for itself at times lol. Mama always said if you don't have anything nice, stay quiet.... never said anything about facial expressions!

Its pretty cool here today. Oldest niece has her graduation party today. We got some nice rain last night for about an hour.

  4. Our local Parker store got pretty low on hose and fittings a while back.

Ammo is still scarce. Academy Sports doesn't even have any stickers out on the shelves for any.

Lowes has been short on electrical parts. FIL grabbed some boxes for me since we are wiring my new shop and there were very little on the shelf.

Wire is double what is was.

Screws and nails are double from last time I bought some.

Food hasn't been a problem that my wife has said anything about.

Gas 2-3 weeks ago for the gas-apocalypse was crazy/ Luckily we were off work that week and didn't have to leave the house for much.

  5. Finally got a chance to start on this thing. Kids baseball and scouts are every day of the week minus Sunday. Dropped the oil and wouldn't you know, last person rounded the oil filter bolt off. Didn't pop the cover off yet but I would bet the filter is pretty bad. Left it all draining last night. Off to order the filter bolt.

  6. 16th anniversary was yesterday. Last Saturday my wife noticed her diamond was missing in her ring. I told her it is mighty suspicious this happened right before #16 lol. Probably run by a jeweler and have her take a look at a few rocks.    Headed out with the family to eat lunch as early as we can. Living in a military town on a payday weekend gets crazy... and a holiday is crazier come chow time. Supposed to have real bad storms later today so we will be right here at home. Gotta make sure I grab a case of beer for later....

sounds like a nice deer plot.. over the smokies, the weather is different.. been through NC, an SC. i like them both.. we still suffer from cold here.. one time, it was snowing on this side, soon as ya crossed over, the  smokies, weather got better. ice an snow on this side, not on the other..

If it all comes up, it should be. About an acre.  Not sure if there will be beans or corn planed this year where I hunt.  I love our mountains in NC. Plan on going next month to my inlaws place for about a week. My first experience with snow up there was back in 09 or 10. Rode 5 hours to get there to be greeted my generators buzzing and very little lights on. Got to the top where the house was and saw the doorbell light on!! SHEEEEW. I did have to shovel snow for 2 hours just to get in the driveway since they had plowed the road a few times that week. The locals could tell I was new... asking where the snow shovels were at Walmart lol.  It was ice under the snow which made the driveway terrible.

the ground is still to cold for planting here. south of the Ohio river, south of Louisville, an with the rain is too wet for seeds.. when it aint raining, it is...

I went and check the plot today. Some clover is coming up and looked like some radishes are coming up here and there. We have had a few 90* days already. Been in the 70s today with a nice breeze.

  9. We finally got some rain to come through this past week. Had 2 small thunder storms roll through yesterday. Got to check my food plot and see if anything is starting to sprout. It had been at least 3 weeks since I had put it in the ground.

  10. Guy brought me a 2004 Rubicon to go over for him. Runs and drives ok but has a fuel leak, some squeaks, and the rear brake is frozen up. Any thing I should look for while I'm going over it. It turns so easy compared to my 05 Foreman 500 with the locker in it.  Aint gonna lie, I could get use to the auto shifting. I really get tired of my shifter wearing out and getting loose....

guess ya gotta do something. we had local drag strips. but ever so often, we go to a road, that wasnt patrolled so well.  it didnt cost that much to run at ohio valley, 1/4 track.

it was flooded the last time, i drove past it. think though, its still open.

been down the track twice, ET's got the 1st. heat, let of too early on the second... 8.26 the 1st i think..  i know i didnt have a 9 or above. the 2nd 8.76.. my car would do 60 in 1st gear. 90 in 2nd..

it wernt geared right. 373's the best i could figure out. only to have a 411, 454.

I had a '93 S10 that I ran the balls out of. Almost every weekend on some back roads we got stupid. It was kinda know for being "quick" .... as quick as a 2.8 5 speed S10 was lol. Guess it wasn't bad since most of my friends had 4x4 trucks and mine was a 2wd. When I built my 1st camaro, I was at the dragstrip every chance I could racing it. That's when I thought about how dumb it was what I use to do.

  12. Bought a 20 gauge and a 410 from a buddy. Buck shot is easy to find. I just want some bird shot for them. I thought it would be the easiest to find. Local stores sell out as soon as they get ammo. The place I get mine from usually holds on to it a little longer since he is smaller.

I'll like to hear what @Chevymec thinks, I'm not a ford guy, well not any of these newer brand vehicles, but thats the choice now.

Wish I knew the ins and outs of the Fords that good.

All i know about them is anything with a triton motor is garbage. Worst designed engine i have ever had the dis-pleasure of working on. The common failure list is a mile long. Simply changing the two part spark plugs is an 8 hour process. Who would ever do such a thing? My brothers 5.4 in his f150 was a better boat anchor than anything else. Just my opinion of course. No dis-respect meant at all.

A 3/8 air gun is your friend with those plugs. I may break one my next time, but haven't happened yet!
