WOW , only $1,500 damage , hard to believe ---- I don't know what to do with the language , personally have viewed some awesome videos and songs that have words that I don't post

Conflicted as well with that. Didn't know whether to post with a warning, spoiler tag or just leave it be and not share.

Philosophically this is a protecting children argument and my stance is that if they find something the parent doesn't like they shouldn't have had the access to begin with.

Or the parent may reevaluate whether a moment of weakness from someone who just lost something dear to them is (in the grand scheme of things) that bad for their child to see.

Ultimately its a perspective thing but I think a happy medium is light language and "risque" but clean content should be posted with a warning.

Some sites have a "NSFW" flag or "PG" flag but we don't want content that fits those two labels so understand why the option would not be available.

PG-13 type of content should be okay IMO. I think you get one F-Bomb in a PG13 movie or something like that.

Videos without audio would be a decent solution too. Could have made a GIF out of this in hindsight...

I really hope it don't come down to an attorney, really i hope it's recovered and not to beat up!

    Me too.

From experience on this the insurance company hopes your attitude is just to move on... they are banking on it.

IMO Don't cash the check until you are satisfied with the amount.

Common practice to send you a check hoping you deposit. That then means you accepted their amount.

You might be surprised how reasonably priced an attorney can be when its a matter of losing money if you don't hire one.

Maybe you don't even need one but to just prove their amount is not correct.

Don't pay for nothing. Know what benefit attorney are providing before agreeing to anything and you will be good.

Many attorneys make a large chunk of their income off initial consolations and those are the ones you want to avoid.

  3. A video showing super unfortunate accident with a 700xx.

The owner said that it did "only" $1500 in damages and that the quad was back on the road to this day.

One comment said... How? To which there was no reply but the answer is "Because Honda"

The ATCs (and older Honda ATVs) were known to severely hurt the rider and be drivable afterward.

I'm sick to my stomach and it has put me in a really depressed state. I did have insurance on it, so that helps somewhat. They said there gonna wait 3 weeks to see if it turns up. Also they will give me it's current value plus a little for mods, if I can come up with the receipts. So far I've found a few receipts but unable to locate ones like all the mod quad billet stuff, chassis skids, honda nerfs, bars, shock & vibe clamp, and I'm sure I'm forgetting other stuff. Like the 14" Black Knight light bar!

I really hate this for you. It sucks that this is happening....

You need an attorney if it isn't going to get cost prohibitive.

Insurance is a tricky deal any I have no idea what your policy looks like but here is the normal situation...

Company will say here is what we can do and phrase it like it's your only option but that is actually just the start of negotiations.

You will potentially be able to make the argument that "replacement" cost is much higher than their initial offer. Do the math on actual replacements and present that information. Need to show them their offer is low because to replace your bike you need X,Y and Z.

Receipts would be "preferred" but are certainly not required unless otherwise stated. A picture of the bike with a semi-recent time stamp (and you have video) will prove that the bike was in the condition (and with the mods) that you claim. Break down the mods and replacement cost of everything and summary. Maybe don't "need" an attorney for this but in my experience that is the only way they will take you seriously.

Personally seen initial replacement offers be doubled and tripled after negotiations.

Wish you the best of luck with whatever you do. I'm glad to hear you did have some kind of protection! Hopefully you get back what you deserve... replacement cost!

  5. We are flush with Copperheads here.

Few years back a den was setup near our porch and at a certain time of night you could count +10 snakes moving in just a few minutes.

A standard garden hoe is my favorite tool for dispatching a dangerous snake.

For sure would never kill a non-venomous snake under any condition. Would relocate one though.

I love snakes. Non-venomous ones are a gift. One blacksnake will keep a rodent problem at bay that's for sure.

King snakes are the best. They aren't aggressive, clear rodents, don't target chickens and will kill other snakes.

A "hog-nose" or "spreading adder" (looks like a cobra) is also a great snake. They will not bite. You can pick them up without them getting upset either. Do that with the wrong snake and you might be in trouble. I have been interacting with snakes for years or would not consider getting close enough to touch one.

Only interact with a snake if a professional has already identified it (or from a distance)

  6. Well I didn't get a chance to check the fan yet but the fuel float contacts were corroded away. Will need a replacement unit.

Got a lot of the plastic put together and some of it back on the machine. Wanted to show the baking soda / superglue fix on the factory snorkel. It doesn't show so was left rough but can be sanded down if you want a better finish. Still need to treat all black plastic with Cerakote trim coat but they already look pretty good.

I'll finish putting it together tomorrow hopefully.

    Thanks for looking!

  7. I didn't realize that you were the same guy as the "Trx700xx Blows Up" video

I might be 500 of your views on that video. I have been using that as my go-to example for what an engine that's about to pop sounds like for years.

Totally understand hindsight being 20-20 on the video you can clearly hear the engine noise but in the moment it's a completely different deal.

Nowadays you would have likely known what to listen for.

Is that the same one that was stolen?

  8. Buttoning this bike up finally after many delays.

Changed the gear oil again (and for the last time most likely)

Got the plastics finished and started assembly. Old superglue and baking soda fix on the cracked factory "snorkel"

The last few issues needing to be addressed are the gas gauge and cooling fan.

Yet to see what the exact problem is with either one of these but fan is not kicking on and gauge flashes like it isn't connected.

Anyone just know what the issue is from experience with these bikes?

  9. Juicy J - 1995 featuring Logic

    NSFW Lyrics | Language Warning

This is not my type of music but I can sure appreciate their taste in quads. Could have gotten a 95 model lol

It's funny to me that 300s are becoming a status symbol for rappers. Don't actually have to hear the song.

Not appropriate for the site but the thumbnail of the video shows two 300s in the typical "look at my stuff" rap video deal

  10. I truly mean no offence in saying this. If it comes across as that (or condescending) I sincerely apologize.

It seems to me that you are being pulled in many different directions due to having no personal experience with this type of thing.

This is a situation we have all found ourselves in. No one can be an expert in everything... except that one friend we all have... just ask em!

Take the recommendation to go with a Honda ATV.

That "work bike" would be a complete waste of your money.

If money is not an object...

Go with what PROV just said. I agree completely. We are a certain demographic here but most Honda owners are riding trouble free.

    1 hour ago, PROV said:

Get a new Honda and don't look back. I've never had a problem and put on at least 1000 miles every year. Fixing quads may be a hobby with you guys but I have things I would rather do with my time, like ride etc. Most all my friends ride Honda and wouldn't switch.

    If you are price conscious...

Find a used utility Honda in good condition and buy it! Model doesn't really matter. Just not ES

Same advice for the trailer. Get a used one that works if you are price conscious.

Good luck with whatever you end up on!

  11. Welcome!

Idle issue sounds like crud in the pilot jet moving around. Consider adding an inline fuel filter if possible.

The fix would be to disassemble and clean the carb but that might be too much work for the small benefit if it's working.

Sounds a bit like a ground issue (or something shorting out) on the lights deal. Check/clean connections

You can download your service manual if you haven't already. Feel free to open a thread in the Utility Electronics section for help diagnosing the problem.

So would worn out friction disk act like a break is on when you try to move. Its really strange?

It is strange. Worn out friction disks do not usually act as a brake.

You may have a bad one-way bearing or another issue but the first step is to pull it apart and see.

It's possible that you have some sort of bind in the rear bearing carrier but from your original description that doesn't sound like it.

  13. Bang on from Shade as always.

The 250s (Recon and 250ex) will wear out of spec like any other clutch and this one has the "sport clutch" I believe which gives more opportunity for abuse.

You will likely need to put in a set of discs as mentioned above but springs and centri-clutch "weight set" would also be a good idea.

Hopefully the clutch adjustment will fix but not likely. You can download the service manual from the links on the top of the site.

    https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/atv/2003/trx250ex-a-sportrax-250ex/clutch

Ordering from a different place might be a good idea if you are worried about how fast the part will show up. PZ could certainly be better in that regard.

Goes back to the old "Fast? Good? Cheap? Pick two" deal with those guys. Good and cheap 😁

  14. Shindy 03-048 is the one you want I think. (Do a bit more checking before hitting the button)

Ultrasonic your OEM carb and put that Shindy kit in. Like new again.

Buy an ultrasonic if you don't have one, they aren't too expensive.

China carb is great to get you by while rebuilding OEM but are definitely hit and miss.

Orange ZEP from HD and put that in the cleaner if you don't already have something in mind.

  15. Fake. Animal abusers....

Easy to see that the fish and eel are already dead and being put in these positions for view money. The fish is cut in half and they are reaching though it.

They kill the animals and put them in these positions for views. A lot of these "fish in holes" videos are made in countries where they don't care and they don't just use eels or fish. They do this with dogs... anything for views.

Contributing to more of this content by watching it.

Edit: Sorry to be a downer but IMO just remove this from the site. No good in this video.

  16. If you are price conscious do not buy a new ATV of any brand.

Used is better value. You have to take your time. Low mileage used Honda is practically new.

Gonna beat the "No ES/Hondamatic" drum one more time and say don't get an ES model even if it's cheaper.

  17. Certainly not unbelievable.

I have seen older bikes with less hours. If it is farm ridden and not that often they can stay very low.

4WD vs 2WD / Foot vs ES and other options not mentioned change the value significantly.

Electric shift for example is something I would never buy. If it was free... I'd trade it.

~$2500 USD is about the most I could see paying for 4WD FS even if it was in showroom-perfect condition.
