  1. Ok, I'll order one. Quick question, when I perform the last test testing the control motor, when I connect the leads to the battery and it changes gear, should it show the gear its in or be blank. It shows N and 1st but blank 2nd and up.
  2. I have the OE angle sensor in it right now and that one tested around 2-5 jump. I was trying as slow as possible while holding the multimeter in place. I can re clean and grease it again to see if that works.
  3. So I finished troubleshooting per the manual and it is looking like a faulty control unit. Before I go and buy a $300 plus part, when you test the ohms on the angle sensor and it say smooth resistance, how smooth is smooth? When i do it i try to go slow as possible and get between 4-8 ohm jumps
  4. I am going through the trouble shooting in the manual, I just finished the angle sensor resistance and now onto the shift switch 3P (natural) connector. Do i measure the male or female portion. With the key on the male reads 5.02v and the female reads 0v.
  5. I read through that last week and did it to the new parts. It is hard to buy OE when the dealer wants $96 for an angle sensor but I do guess you get what you pay for.
  6. I was still moving when I went to down shift. After I got home I rocked it back and forth nothing, used the emergency shifter to put it in neutral and tried from there as well. When the machine shifts it runs great which make this all the more agitating.
  7. Quick update, I drove close to 10 miles today, just putting around with my son in the fields around my house, went through the gears and shifting fine. Heading home I was in 3rd gear and went to down shift but hesitated on the button then hit it and the indicator went blank and would not shift. I put the oe angle sensor on before dinner and still wouldn't shift. In the morning I'm going to pull the plastics off and start troubleshooting it and check the things everyone has recommended.
  8. So I have come across this thing before and thought about posting it here to see what everyone though and if anyone has used it woth any success
  9. Dear atvhonda diary, After a long talk with my Foreman last night I left it in the garage to rethink its life and the direction it was heading. No but I started it up this morning and still nothing, I rocked it back and forth a little bit while reving and hitting the shift buttons and a slight clunk and it went into gear. I drove it around for 20-30 minutes going through all the gears and its working. So not real sure what the issue is, it could have been the battery but I did have it inside my house the whole time I was working on it and it had 12.46 volts and 14.5 with the wheeler on yesterday so who knows. This is definitely a love hate relationship but will keep everyone posted. Thank you everyone again for the help.
  10. I will also check to see if the relay is working. I did, I made sure to push grease into every bushing and extra before I put it together.
  11. I'm going to try the old angle sensor tomorrow to see how it goes.
  12. Amazon, I only replaced that because I broke one of the brush leads and then got infuriated and threw it against my garage wall.
  13. I am referring to the shift motor and it is brand new. As far as I know the 2000 Foreman does not flash or store codes. I applied dielectric to the 16 pin and I've gone through the connectors and haven't noticed any corrosion. Last time this happened I was in my garage and shifted N, 1st, 2nd, 1st, N. When I shifted in reverse out of my garage it wouldn't shift up again.
  14. So I posted earlier about my Foreman not shifting and thought I narrowed it down to the oil seal behind the gear shift spindle for the angle sensor. So I put the new seal in put a new control motor on started it up let it run. Reversed out of my garage drove gently down the road into 5th then back down to 1st, N the reverse. Went to shift out of reverse and nothing. So I had to use the emergency shift to get back, which it will shift all the way to 5th using that. So I am at a loss right now. I might put the old angle sensor back in to see if that might be it but I check the continuity of the new one and its fine.
  15. Thank you I will look into it further. I will also try that site as well. I don't want any more than than anyways, just enough to give it more clearance but not to much to cause issues with the cv joints
  16. Besides buying a lift kit, are there other ways to lift my Foreman, longer shocks, shocks from another atv things like that. I know a kit is around $100 or so but the shocks are 20 years old and could be replaced. Thanks in advance.
  17. I have noticed a slower shift when I am plowing and its cold, I live in Maine. The previous owner put this battery in and I feel it helps. Even on cold days my Foreman starts right up without issue. I just read through that writeup and will put it to use. I never thought of going through all the electrical connections wit dielectric grease.
  18. I will, parts should be in Tuesday or so. Thanks again everyone for the help.
  19. Thank you for the info. Yah I managed to break my control motor so I am now waiting for a new one to come in as well. What kind of grease did you use after? I have a multipurpose moly grease. This is what it looked like when I pulled the motor, zero grease.
  20. I found this also and was think of doing the same thing. At first I wasn't sure if it was going to be a bigger job than that, but by the looks of the seal, it appears I can just pull it out and put a new one in. Thank you for your help.
  21. Thank you I'll give that a try. Hopefully I can get some assistance on the oil eal as well.
  22. Thank you, I was posting on my cell phone and must have clicked on the wrong thing.
  23. Accidentally posted in wrong forum earlier. But here it is. I have a 2000 Foreman 450 es and like they seem to do, its not shifting. I did some trouble shooting and realized the angle sensor was full of oil. There was no grease at all where the reduction gears are just oil. So I think I've narrowed it down to the oil seal on the gear shift spindle for the angle sensor is leaking and it is pushing oil into the sensor, shorting it and not shifting. Now my question, how hard is that seal to change? I need to take a better look at it but I belive thats what is going on. I would appreciate any help. I've owned this fourwheeler for a few months and have had nothing but shifting issues. I also screwed up and pulled the control motor all the way put and am now having a hard time getting the brushes and springs to stay in place while I put it back together, so any pointers with that would also be great.
