  1. Thanks for the advice and the photo. It has been interesting ,to say the least, undoing all the redneck rigging this poor beat up old dog has been through.
  2. Thanks! that is exactly what i wanted to know.
  3. So is there originally a positive cable going to the battery besides the one that connects to the starter silinoid?
  4. Sorry the lighting makes the picture hard to see. But you can see the red wire coming out of the white plastic connector that should go directly to the fuze box but instead it was cut and the only way i can figure out how to get power is to connect it to the battery
  5. The solid red wire going into the fuse box was spliced when i got it and the only way i can get power to the dash is by connecting it directly to the battery. Everything seems to work fine but obviously this is not right. Any ideas?
  6. Thanks for the input. Starting to sound like im just going to have to bite the bullet and cough up a cupple hundred bucks.
  7. i got my axle on new years and thankfully everithing seems good. Now im back to tinkering with the small stuff. I took off the fuel pump in hopes i could simply open it up clean it to solve all my problems lol. Looks like the bugger is sealed up tight. Darn thing works but it leeks. Maby it just dosnt like the extreme cold of MN. Aniway im looking online for a pump and i would appreciate any and all advice. New oem pumps are very expensive. Used ones are a bit cheeper but still upwards 50 bucks and im a little woried i might end up with the same issues with the cold. There are cheep new pumps that are not oem for 15 bucks but do those things even work? Im about ready to put an air filter directly on the carb and convert the airbox into gas tank and just let gravity do the work. JK but the thought did cross my mind
  8. Hi im new to the honda fourms (any online fourms in general) so bear with me. hopefully i dont need to pester you guys too much but i may have bit off a little more than i can chew with an 87 forman. I felt confident after rebuilding my late grandmas 87 200sx. (Witch is y i chose an 87 forman to give grandmas ol girl a partner) and i rebuilt two 70s yamaha endoros. All three seemed easy this summer compaired to the forman. So far ive redone the front suspension.. had to grind off part of the center drive shaft gaurd cuz someone thought it was a good idea to weld the shifter on. Had to torch the frame red hot and use a 1/2 impact to get out the right swing arm pivit bolt out, but got the bearings in the swingarm at last. Put in new shocks, good, everithing seems solid With frame/suspension. Now on to the fun part, getting it running. No relly, i do enjoy tinkering with carbs and engines. I can put together most carbs with my eyes closed. The hardest part was the mess the wireing harness was in and trying to find a diagram online without paying 50$. Never did find a good diagram but good ol trial and error got the starter going. Got it running good, real good other than a small leek in the head gasket. Played in the snow, draged the indor horse arena. And right when i was bragging about how it dosnt leek any gas it started. Fuel pump must be going bad but not tosted. After looking everywhere online i decided to join the atv fourms for help. Tinkered and just when the gas stoped leeking the rear end went out while driving. So there it is on blocks again. New axle on the way, im sure ill be bugging you guys for info on this ol dude pleanty
