LoganLemx 23 Posted November 16, 2022 So I painted my plastics awhile back and now realize that it was a bad color choice. what is the easiest method to remove paint on sanded plastics and then get them smooth again? I started with a angle grinder and a plastic bristle wheel but its too time consuming and takes material off.
_Wilson_™ 6,434 Posted November 16, 2022 (edited) Used to be Easy off oven cleaner, but i think because of the EPA regs it's been toned down some...might take a few times, and it won't harm the plastics.... But don't get it on any other aluminum parts and only use it on painted parts you wish to strip... And be mindful of over spray..... As for smoothing the sanded parts ? I won't advise ... Because ive never sanded any ... Edit: leave the oven spray on till you see the paint wrinkle.... And it just wipes right off.... @Goober is who I'd talk to about polishing the plastic.
