I would add oil. If its supposed to be warmed up then thats what i'd go by.

So my "ATC" bud is looking at possibly getting this 1982 i sent him online. Looks really good, but not all original & left fender is a little rough.

I have a completely beat 185S in the yard that @basfnb gave me.  It currently has a plastic gas tank on it.  I have the original tank but it's rusty/leaks. 

 

 

Pretty sure the tanks are the same as the 200, but not 100% sure. I know that black wider gas cap started in 83 tho.

Naw he's not used to hard work like my wheeler bud in the other pic lol was 3 of us on Sunday. All 3 of us went to the same elementary school in the 70s.... Yea thats kindling  buddies ex g/f  bought, they split up after 12 years so thats why we cleaned out all the wood he got this summer as the house already sold 😫

OK i'll bump this...seeing how my back is wrote off from all the wood movement, & not done yet 😅😵

Oh i should ad, buddy i met once said when you leave the key on for a few seconds before cranking (when engine is cold) it started easier/faster.

Yea keeps the carb from icing up, i imagine they may have just put it on all machines to save assembly costs. Unless its a machine that was originally sold way up north 😅

Yea ive done it to a 400ESP. Might not look as smooth after, but works the same.

Geez i always thought it was the Beach Boys who did that 😮

Funny you say that, the 84 i had for a little bit had the fork bent for 3rd gear in it 😆

When mine did the 'grind' noise it was low on oil as i was not checking it right. My experience, not saying yours 'isnt' bad, but mine did the same thing a couple times in close to 8 years after i had changed the oil, it was low only. 

How many miles/kms on it?

I doubt they are worse than any other machine that old.  If you want it bad enough, & you may not get another chance to own one, just get it IMO. Any issue would be worth it.
