  1. The ole Honda did it again!! Pulled 2 more deer outta the bush for me!
I still have 1 more tag left! I gotta tell ya, it was my first time butchering a deer at home. Took me 2 days to get them all done!

2 rump roasts, 30+lbs burger, Lots of steaks, 4 back straps, 4 tenderloins, 3lbs stew meat, ribs, 20lbs jerky meat, & all scraps cooked up for the dog! Went by myself into the middle of no where. Had amazing time by myself. Came around trail first morning out, first hour out, to a doe standing there. Got her with 7mm at 40yards. Windshield made for great rest!  Next morning, first hour & half out, I was on trail which was hard to get too just idling along & looked down another trail.. what do I see? A doe staring at me off the side of trail. I know my firearms very well & practice a lot. I jumped off, put the 30-30 over the mirror as rest, lined up the Burris Fast Fire 2 red dot right on her head, (it covered her entirely) squeezed the Ranger Point Precision Trigger & let my hand loaded  150gr Nosler Ballistic Silvertip Fly! Well heck she took off across the trail & into bush. I reload & go down the trail to look for blood or anything. NOTHING so I think! I looked a little further down the trail & there she was.  DRT! It was another deer I didn’t see that took off! I hammered her. Ranged back to the quad, 115yards. Longest most accurate shot I’ve made with the 30-30 & red dot to date!!!!

(I do not recommend anyone actually take a frontal shot!)

  3. Had to fix my neutral wire, replaced the battery under warranty, & new to me Voltage Regulator. After 700kms or 435miles I checked the valves in new engine. Still bang on .004. As per Webcam. The plug looked great too.

Believe the 2007 Grizzly fan I’m running is using a lot of juice!!

  4. The reason that the Zillas don’t last as long as others, or wear faster if ur on hard pac is due to how soft they are. Reason they are so light. I know I looked at a set of Bugs back I. The day, but I’ve nester got to try a set out.

  5. I pulled the pin & going back with Zillas again haha. I weighed the Executioners on the rim (26”x10”x12”) for a total weight of 38lbs per tire, or 152lbs

The new weight per wheel with Zillas (26”x9”x12” & 26”x11”x12”) was 32lbs per wheel. (Makes no sense as the fronts are smaller & rears wider, but that’s what scale showed) So I actually saved a total of 6lbs per wheel or 24lbs of rotational mass. 128lbs total. That’s huge for a small cc engine. It’s all about power to weight ratio! Lol. 400bbk with light tires should give me quicker acceleration haha. Everything counts. Haha.

the Zillas run taller than the Kendas for sure.

  6. Today had to call Honda & order a new U-Joint ($192!!) Replaced it 5 years ago. But when I put it in gear I’m getting a clunk 8-10 times. The shaft from joint to diff is discontinued or I would have bought one too. Got some swing arm bearings as I did them with diff rebuild all at same time. Rear diff seems ok.. but I’ll inspect better once parts arrive & swing arm off… the 355bbk wasn’t easy on gear let alone the new 400bbk.

  7. What a wild last few weeks!

Two weeks ago I was preparing for a week n half mountain off grid camp in mountains. Well line behold my frame was cracked. So I fixed it, (brazed crack, then made coffin/stiffener from 1” pipe cut in half. Welds look bad, but held up & work!!) got quad running as good as I could for jetting & gave er a full send in the mountains. Total miles were roughly 265+

400bbk worked amazing!! Lots of torque & power. Worked better & better once broken in. Got winched out of the muskeg, (I was just letting my cousin use his new quad lol). On last day in way back to the campsite I hit the river bed & some sow water. I pinned it… then this….

The rear end is fine..the axle made it 5 years…

New Bronco Axle, bearing & seal, brake pads be here Friday. New 5” pod lights today…

I’m running a 42 slow, 125 main, & K&N filter. In the pic that’s how plugged looked. I was getting lots of pick pack on deceleration. So I swapped back to the foam Twin Air Filter. I’ll try that out & see how it goes. The fan & oil cooler were KING! She be back up & running by week end!!!

Glad I built this motor! One reason is I had to swap clutch covers from 355 onto new motor. Found a valve seal & pieces in bottom crank case with metal in oil.

I’ll post up videos once I upload from my GoPro.

  8. Making headway. Fingers crossed I get er fired up today. Welded a bracket, new oil cooler & fan mounted. Fan is from a Kodiak 350. WOW does it move air!!! Just have to install jets, run lines to the cooler, (fill it first of course) top up the camshaft cavity with oil (has moly all over journals & cam now) & triple check everything…

  9. So foot pegs all back on, 424 installed, front diff fixed (washers doubled up inside) & installed, new axles in, just need to tighten up the front end bolts & toss cotter pins in. Not too much left to do..

Need to fill front diff, engine oil, (transfer case filled) buy some new jets & oil cooler. I have a plan on how to mount the fan & cooler.

should have er hopefully fired up by the week end!

  10. Rookie Move! (again!!)

while my front diff was out, for the rebuild of my 424, I inspected it prior to install. Well compared to my spare open diff it was loose! So I figured the gear was worn too much. I was gonna swap the locker into my spare diff.

    LOL!!!!

I open it up only to find my mistake when I originally installed the Torq locker. I had both diff spacers on the pinion side causing excessive slack between the gears trying to mesh! What a goof up on my part! This very well may explain the snapping of handlebars & jerking I’ve tried to explain to you guys while in 4x4. Prolly slipping on the gears under hard load!

Anyway problem solved. & I’m still loving the locker!!! With the fully rebuilt 424, 400bbk, now proper diff, & new axles, I’ll be super solid!!!

    Cheers!

  11. So I was trying to get the nut off the exhaust stud which was out off the head. Heated I & snapped it in vise. Then tried tobget one from the 355 & snapped it. So had to order new ones from Honda.

now… the big debate for me begins…. I’m “thinking” rip the 355 engine apart, hone cylinder, new rings, cam, rockers, chain, & clutch…  lol haven’t even fired up the 400 & debating on what to do with the 355 lol!

In before shadetree replies in all caps about you using that red RTV.... LOL

I KNOW!! I wanted it together & it was going together even though the Honda Bond tube was messed up! I went light, inspected inside the valve covers. Nothing to complain or worry about! Lol.
