  1. Makes sense but when u hit solid u can't go anywhere, Mel thinks there's a snap ring, the only one I got out that I could see is in the floor, so I'm confused as to what that is on top of the bearing. Going to see if I can pry it out with a screwdriver. The object above the bearing.
  2. A 2nd one, the original is in pieces on the floor. So what could this be then?
  3. Well got the snap ring out finally a few questions though. Is the bearing race hardened, I hit a rust ring and can't get the bearing to pull out or budge. Feels like a 2nd ring, it's a gap I can put my fingernail in, is this normal when you pull one part on a 2WD 300? That whatever is is is stopping me from pulling the bearing. If it's a rust ridge would heat n quench with a torch compromise the bearing race? I'm almost out of ideas but puzzled by if that is a rust ring or something else. Help requested. 😁
  4. 125 or 175 preferably, don't tell fish lol but I'll think on it. In the end I may stick to my dream of having an old CJ3A jeep. Ones close to me for 1,600.00 I redone my old Willys MB so I know what I'm in for.
  5. I thought about it, but I don't wanna be shifting all the time, heard you have to dont know if it's true, plus I'm new and dont need instant response. Just asking if you seen the concern I had in the post above being a first time rider, although been watching riding motorcycle videos and looks easy on tarmac. I'll update when I get it depending on bills taxes ya know.
  6. So from what your saying a CL125 like one of these would b easier for dual use, mostly street but tear up trails on weekends, (that's the plan assuming life doesn't get in the way) Any tips first time two wheeler ,control ,technique since handles different on dirt? Or just something I have to figure out. My mom rode back in the 70s and I can't wrap my head around plant the rear tire in a turn to avoid laying down since don't have pavement to grip onto when leaning. Seems to me full power right in or middle of the turn regardless of lean angle u go straight for the wall or whatever is on the upper side of the curve or turn. Just my logic.
  7. Just curious to see and hear your thoughts and opinions. My mom's nagging me to get a bike so I can ride with er. Going to post some pictures tell me what you guys think. Found this in Niles Ohio. Hard to use on the road, get parts for ect ect.
  8. Lol I can't find the holes on the ends or the ends for that matter. I sprayed it with PB yesterday, going to try try n get Friday off so I can have the weekend to do it. Whole 3 days. But I know what ur saying.
  9. 2wd sorry yes I'm at the rusted on there point and I do have a new snap ring. Was just checking to see. I thought of torch but the rubber brake line close had me concerned. You said to soak n move it do I could see the ends I don't even know where they are at. I'll try to drive the bearing through the top this weekend.
  10. Hey guys, it's been a while, been busy working a summer job still am. Anyway I'm replacing the lower bearing, any advice or tricks for that pesky snap ring or cir clip that holds the bearing in. Gotta dive the bearing from the top down I think. Here's where I am so far PB Blaster don't have the good stuff. The top seal if u look from the bottom is still in by the way. Driving me nuts. Or is the snap ring on top of the bearing hard to exactly tell by the parts diagram and looking from the ground.
  11. Yea wilson I did, sorry have t been on here in a while. And yes I hate those ants.
  12. If your replying to me curious about that JD 400 mower, I'll ask but the guy is always concerned with making a buck, good heart but doesn't chat much.
  13. I had to pick weeds by hand in a lady s flowerbed oh joy lol. Hated it mirco manage to the extreme
  14. I'm trying to get the ball rolling to see if my neighbors buddy will sell me his JD 400 garden tractor. I'd love to have it.
  15. Kohler for me would be the K, Magnum, and command series. Briggs for me, opposed twin, and 5-8HP flathead. Just me. Hey don't matter if ya don't have one just wanted to see opinions and thoughts.
  16. Welcome to the form, I couldn't find the photo bcsman had put up it was a photo of retros post I think but couldn't find it, I was going to say IF it's like the ranchers or rincon far as the shift motor you can take it off, take the gears our "remembering where there went before" and put white lithium all temp grease in and after you reassemble it, should shift much smoother of course assuming you have a shifting issue. Or you just want it to shift better.
  17. All good points, I'm just more partial to quality. But yea I'm a guy that wishes things were like back in the 40s and 50s. Well built and simple.
  18. Guess I'm more partial to the older ones, newer ones to me and in my research aren't built right, but hey guess I'm in a time warp lol.
  19. I have had nothin but issues with Briggs, only good one we have is an old 80s I think 8hp flathead water pump engine, sat forever drained the tank put good fuel in, pulled it over a few times to prime, fourth time, fired right off. Again sat for who knows how long.
  20. Should've said push mower choice but hey if it works use it lol. I heard those are good engines. Never ran em.
  21. I'm just curious what mowers or engine choices you guys have and like. Me personally Briggs and Kohler are NOT what they used to be, and don't get me going on the 450-550e series briggs, I have an HRX217HYA. Love it, I accidentally deleted the first picture so I got a screenshot. Bought it almost a year ago 4/28/20, and it does very well especially the GCV200 engine. Hydrostatic transmission blade stop, Nexite deck. I'm the envy of the neighborhood. 800.00 but worth it. My mom got a mower for free, troy built 21in last year, and that thing is a steamy turd, I work on it more than I use it. Can't get it started for one thing without fighting it for 20 minutes a putt and stall at a time, gotta drill out the rediculosly small jet to let more fuel in, just haven't done it yet. Been using the good one.
  22. Wilson, what I meant was for him to see if the compression raised when it was hot and if so how much.
