Technically not in the woods , on the edge of the woods , my surveillance cameras picked up and recorded an orb of something that looks like electricity or call it a plasma ball , the whole deal took about 2-1 1/2 minutes , it is about 6 -8 ft diameter , it floats slowly down to about 8 ft off the ground and hovers  , a lightning bolt looking things comes out of it very slowly and makes it way to the trail head at the end of the dead end street and goes into the woods , then it slowly retracts back into the orb , which then slowly goes up out the sight of the camera , the street light on the near by pole is flashing high and low as this is happening , it was raining when this happened -----  I think this can be explained , it was something to do with the weather and the cameras , I walked to the front door while this was happening and couldn't see it with the naked eye , must have been something to do with the  infra-red side of the camera and the rain

Sounds like Ball Lightning but that's viewable with no special equipment. Amazing to see regardless!

To use buddy tracking he must need a transmitter also.

yeah, whoever you ride with needs to have the Voyager Pro as well. For us that's fine, my son just ordered his too so that's the fifth now in our riding group.

I've always used a Garmin handheld in a Ram mount and transfer my data to Garmin Basecamp program.

I've got a Garmin 680t that I've been using for years and it does a good job and have several map programs on my phone (Avenza, Gaia, etc) but this new gps has a few feature that really caught my attention. Buddy tracking! Very cool for riding in groups. Has more features I like so I decided to order one

  4. So I have a TT Voyager Pro sitting in a digital shopping cart and I just can't quite bring myself to "Buy it now!". One question I have is if any of the gps data (telemetry) can be taken and extracted for, lets say overlay info in videos. Does any of you have a V Pro? If so, what are your thoughts?

You know I never mentioned the Atv stolen above was stolen out of a locked sea can / Conex container and Behind a locked gate.—$3,500 wow ,  you’ll pay dearly for sea cans.  My 20 ft in great condition was $600 and $300 to deliver it 35 miles.  But I do live in a port city  and know people who work for the port.  I see them go for eas high as $2,200 for a forty footer plus moving fees from brokers selling them.

Oh !.. so the thief knew where to look and bold enough to go through a locked gate as well? Oh I would go all medieval on this clown if I caught him.

Our shed door was kicked in and a great many of my tools taken. So living where I do.. yeah paid a premium for a new container

  6. We recently tore down an old shed with the intent of getting a Conex shipping container. Found a brand new (never been to sea) container for about $3500. Not having to worry about shingles or siding us going to be nice (all the hail we get here.. bring it on!) But being able to to lock this thing will be so much better than than flimsy plywood door that was broken into. We aren't stopping there, found a camera system (up to 8 cameras) that I get notifications on my phone when movement is detected and I can even view it on there too. Anyway it does a ton more but my point in all this is people these days feel entitled to everything! Doing the best I can to protect what's mine just at times feels extreme but the lengths thieves are going to these days is unreal

  7. I read through it again and didn't see any mention of insurance. Was it bought outright or financed? Just hoping it was insured, at least to help close that door.. but if not, yeah. Maybe get lucky and they guy breaks his leg. It's how I managed to get my XRR back.

  8. And for the record I hate mud. I go around puddles as much as possible.. give me dry dusty trails!

My son on the other hand.. well he thinks his raptor is a mudding machine

  10. We've gotten quite a bit of riding in the last few days. I got my Ricochet skids installed on my 700xx and so I've finally got to really open it up. With all the rocks in the area I was nursing it through or just avoiding heavily rocky stuff all together to avoid any frame damage. My son also got skids for his raptor and we went out and had some fun!

excuse the clarity, cameras were dirty and I took screenshots from the video...

and when you see the cattle guards its really hard to not want to jump them..

  11. Oh I hope they catch this guy. 🤬 thieves.

I've been the victim of theft, a car and a dual sport Suzuki. That feeling you get when you look at the vacant spot where your vehicle once was is gut wrenching. Great idea for a thread!

  12. I'm personally fond of Amstel synthetic lines. Easy to repair on the trail on event of failure (very rare) but I can fix it literally as good (and stronger) than new in less than 5 minutes sitting trailside. I use heavy fishing line for the lock stitch and I've never broken the line at the stitch. For the atv (Can Am Renegade 800) I use a Superwinch Terra 35 that has a steel drum that uses either cable or synthetic. Why not have one where you can use both?

And experience has taught me ever use a winch that has an aluminum drum with synthetic,  will crush it like a pop can

  13. My 680t had done something similar, only to find I was in the wrong profile. I dont recall what I was using but it kept the tracks from being shown. Once I switched the profile they were there. Wish I could remember which profile it was... not much help but wanted to share!

  14. I always keep an eye out on craigslist or my wife does on the Facebook marketplace. I got two gopro hero 5 Sessions that were practically brand new and paid about $120 total. The 5 Session has image stabilization were the earlier models didn't.. huge difference!

As for recoil they handle it really well, I've had them on my .223 with no issues. Why some ask? Mostly for fun but I do like seeing how my target transition can be improved by watching them.

  15. The Black Hills offers another playground the locals call 'Farmingdale' or 'The Buttes' but Railroad Buttes (offical name) offers a whole different riding experience than the trails found "in the hills". From rolling plain riding, hill climbing, motocross to riding the badlands. The Table (a big butte) just off the main access road is center attraction and next to it is the main parking lot that even provides a biffy! There is no shade and no potable water so means of hydration is bring your own. Very dusty when dry but if its wet do yourself a favor and skip it... Missouri mud has nothing on this stuff.

I've been riding and camping out here for the better part of 30 years and is always my first place to go come spring.

Cell reception is none to poor and having an accident out here is royally bad news even though it's just 30 minutes from the nearest hospital. Over the years I've seen some really bad accidents and deaths aren't uncommon.

  16. So I've been searching high and low for a picatinny mount for a gopro session. The best I've found is (was?) made by Patch-me-up called the "sidekick"

anyone heard of it? I nknow the company went kaput but I'm still searching even for a used one.

lol, that chamber view indicator doesn't help though. fun to shoot and inside close quarters that bullpup sweeps corners very nicely
