JRB 22 Posted August 15, 2021 Hay folks: when installing the head, Clymers manual says to replace the washers under the acorn nuts. Is that necessary? not to be cheap, but it takes 10 days to get parts here. I have all new parts already in the mail.

JRB 22 Posted August 15, 2021 Thanks bcsman. I know that there are two sizes, but I'm ready to get this bike going, but I want to do it right the first time.
_Wilson_™ 6,593 Posted August 15, 2021 you need to get a honda service / shop manual on your model, and shelf / or get tid of that clymers book..... Haynes is just as bad. welcome to the forums.
87Iroc 344 Posted August 16, 2021 See link at top of page for the service manual. I downloaded it and have large sections printed out from my troubleshooting and rebuild I did last year.
JRB 22 Posted August 16, 2021 (edited) Thanks Wilson/87Iroc. Will do. Akatv also thinks it's not necessary to buy new washers. Thanks you all! Edited August 16, 2021 by JRB
Fishfiles 20,147 Posted August 16, 2021 I don't worry about changing the washers or self locking nut when the manual tells you too ------- or the crush washer on the drain plug , unless it is seriously scared up and some sand paper on a flat surface will fix that washer up sometimes 2

shadetree 5,970 Posted August 16, 2021 i always re-use those washers, no need to replace. the manual will tell you to replace a lot of stuff ?, but this is honda's way of ripping us off. re-use them !.
