98 450es head install question.

Recommended Posts

Hay folks: when installing the head, Clymers manual says to replace the washers under the acorn nuts. Is that necessary?  not to be cheap, but it takes 10 days to get parts here. I have all new parts already in the mail.

See link at top of page for the service manual. I downloaded it and have large sections printed out from my troubleshooting and rebuild I did last year.

Thanks Wilson/87Iroc. Will do. Akatv also thinks it's not necessary to buy new washers. Thanks you all!

I don't worry about changing the washers or self locking nut  when the manual tells you too -------  or the crush washer on the drain plug , unless it is seriously scared up and some sand paper on a flat surface will fix that washer up sometimes

i always re-use those washers, no need to replace. the manual will tell you to replace a lot of stuff ?, but this is honda's way of ripping us off. re-use them !.
