Are you using stock wheels and tires? Tires can make as much difference as suspension in some situations. I use aftermarket wheels to widen the stance a little and I think it helps with the ride but if you have a non power steering model you might notice a little more feedback from the steering in the rocky terrain.

Yes, stock wheels and tires. I have added wheel spacers to both but that didn't change anything except giving it much more stability. I installed new pull offs from a 500 rancher on one.......it is a little harder to steer.......it's probably a little more plush tho because they are one inch taller which give a half inch more "suspension" per wheel.

People swear by Elkas, but that tosses out your "don't want to spend a fortune".

Do your 420's have adjustable shocks on them?  I picked up some factory 420 shocks on ebay for my kid's 300 and they were adjustable.    I think they were advertised as being from a 2012?  I guess those wouldn't work on a newer machine though.

The pre load is adjustable......they are full soft. Thanks

  3. As stated I'm looking for shock upgrade suggestions. I have two TRX 420"s straight axle. One 2014 and one 2017. As Ya'll already know Honda doesn't come stock with the best shock absorbers. I know, I know the IRS is much better so let's just talk about my situation please. The wife and I are OK with the suspension for the most part because we don't ride in rough areas too much. When we go to Colorado that's when my wife really needs something more plush. I've found that 3 psi in the tires is a very plush ride,......anything less makes the steering vague. 3 psi also allows rocks to dent the steel rims at high speed in the rocks and my wife's shoulders get tired because of the extra effort required with the low tire pressure. 3.5 is better for her for all the obvious reasons but adds a little more jolt to her arms. 4 psi is too much jolt but better yet for the steering effort. I guess what I need is a set of shock absorbers that are plush enough to allow a little more psi in the tires. Plus....and a big plus, I do not want to spend a fortune! LOL Yes, I want it all. Please give me your ideas.......looking forward, Thanks guys.

There is an evap purge solenoid undee the battery. Could have been trying to actuate with low voltage? Only thing down there i can think of that could make a thumping noise?

Yes, it sounded like a solenoid. I guessed that the computer was trying to send some kind of signal but just confused what ever that was.

  5. Just like the title says.....strange noise with my truck. I'm sixty and still learning stuff so I'm passing this on. I fueled up my truck a few days ago, hopped in to go and it's suddenly like my battery was removed. Then after a few seconds a strange thumping sound from under my battery. Hurriedly I open the hood to see what's up. No power of any kind but this thumping sound! WTH? Check my battery voltage....6.5 volts........disconnect the battery and the thumping stops. New battery ...........everything is back to normal. Just a heads up. LOL I have no idea what happened, does anyone out there know?

  6. As the title suggests.......this was the best day ever. A few years ago we talked about our favorite things to do. I said it was a great day when I ride, shoot and smoke meat. That's what I did today.......in addition to that my two daughters were here  with there husbands. That made it the best day ever. Merry Christmas everybody.

Kid wasn’t hurt, should have learned a lesson.

Yeah Carlos was lucky the kid wasn’t hurt, but ultimately he wasn’t.

Dad should have been thankful his kid wasn’t hurt, and should have tanned his rear for riding where he didn’t have permission.

A few weeks ago all the kids in a Science class got in trouble with the teacher. I grounded mine and made her go apologize to the teacher. All the other parents complained that the teacher shouldn’t be so strict.

In the real world, Carlos could have used a wire, and the kid would be dead. The dad didn’t teach his son properly, so the whole thing is ultimately his fault

Jeep, I admire you for having your daughter apologize to the teacher for her part in the problem. If all parents were like you we would have far fewer problems in society. Down here in Houston a police officer was run over and died of the injuries by a 21 year man that has a history of violence and gang activity. His grand mother and her boyfriend helped hide him from the law and lied to the law for about two days. She says it was an accident and he was off his medication.  She also accused the law of slandering her too. She is out on bond right now and says she's not worried about the charges against her. This is mind exploding for me!

  8. I'm mostly a seventies music guy. Graduated high school in 1977. I've asked many younger people about the best are for rock ( those that really know) and they agree with me that 70s rock was best. I had a group of guys in their early twenties hanging out here about eight years ago and we were listening to my music and one of asked if this was on the radio back. I said yes, this was normal for me back then. I think it was Diee Straights........Sultan of Swing that got him to say that. Anyway. My favorites from then that haven t been mentioned yet are Dire Straights, Steely Dan.....Aja is by far their best album, Emerson Lake and Palmer ,Trilogy album. Best of Seals and Crofts,Jimmy Buffet,  Santana,  Supernatural album. And for Christian rock you must, must listen to Hyperstatic Union, Lifegiver album. These guys rock! Probably 20 year old music though.

well I'll add this, just due to I am still not happy LOL

I USED to use Schumacher tenders' and well, battery chargers

till like 2 yrs ago, I went and bought  some new tenders, BRAND NEW one's

hooked one up to a skid steer I had and the tender went nuts and over charged my system, ruined battery and a whole bunch of electrical parts on machine, costing me a LOT of money to repair

things fail I get it, BUT< when I contacted  Schumacher, they were nice and understanding and CLAIMED they would stand by there product and help with repair costs due to tender was under warranty and  all, they started a claim for me, and then, STOPPED responding to calls and emails and just plain refused to ever get back to em after they opened the claim and SAID they would help

been 2 yrs now and not a single reply to any reach outs from me,  and even if I use a different email address or phone number, once they know its me, they  stop talking!

SO< this being said, I will never use any of there products again! there customer service was filled with nothing but liar's! apparently and they DON"T stand behind there products at all IMO or experience!

I am now using Battery tender plus maintainers and so far all seem to be doing what they were made to do problem free!

I had a Schumacher at first too. It didn't last but a few months.......less than a year I'm sure. I asked for suggestions on the old forum about five years ago. We had a great discussion there too. A member sent me a Battery Tender Plus as a gift!!! Great guy in my opinion. Some of you may remember him........he always defended the electric shift Honda. LOL

  10. LOL the members map had you on the southern shore of Hudson Bay!  I think......I didn't verify that but it looked like Hudson bay. Well, I've always wanted to be up in your area as well. I  thought you were up around Lake Superior.

  12. I had a 1978 550 four. It was slow and uncomfortable but reliable. Now they are very sought after.........couldn't hardly give them away after Japan started making faster and more comfortable bikes.

  13. Holy Smoly!!!! Thats way up there! I've always wanted to go up in that part of Canada. I guess there's just about ten weeks of warm weather? ( relatively speaking)  Your Summers are longer than our winters!.........I live about 70 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.......as the crow flys..........mile marker 92 as the freeway drives.
