  1. Picked up this big bear back in November. Old owner wouldn’t tell me much because he’s sly, his twin brother gave me a Honda 450s awhile ago, but this guy is just suspicious. Anyways, I figured I had a good motor. Thought I might part it out. As I became more acquainted with it, I realized this is built similarly to our beloved Hondas, thing is a tank. I managed to get it to fire, the key from my Honda 300 worked on this big bear! Issues: oil cooler lines need replacing fuel system clean (done) wheel bearings are seized (probably gotta replace) there is frame rot at lower front arm brackets and a spot near the front motor mount. I think I can repair and brace this up though. needs a muffler needs brakes positives: basically a freebie good motor decent tires i have six Yamaha wheels from other bikes I’ve got some Yamaha parts laying around most seals seem to be good plastics and racks are perfect no accidents nothin twisted rear is tight what do you guys think?
  2. Pfft, hop in with me! When things get back to normal lets gooooo!
  3. This is good to know, fingers crossed my parts make it too.
  4. i hope you get the chain off the parts bike too! Disclaimer, I would be all over this too.
  5. So, basically done all I can for now. Valve lap tool is in the mail, ball joints, front wheel bearing kits, rear axle assembly are all ordered and in the mail. Now I wait.
  6. Lol, ya, I really doubt I’m going to get everything right the first time around.
  7. Got more time in today. Wiggles the cylinder in with the new rings. Bolted the transfer case on. Bolted the front differential in. Got the covers on for the shafts too. Starting to look like a quad!!!
  8. Jeeze! had a lot of trouble getting the cover back on, the clutch arm kept catching the the Kickstarter spring would spring off, then clutch arm again. Fiew! Took forever. Then on to struggling to get the motor into the frame. That took awhile too. But she’s in! Can’t believe all I got done the past few days, thanks guys for helping along the way.
  9. I have hondabond, and was considering going all the way around with a very very light amount, (inner side) is this alright? then for that yellow area, I will put some on both sides...
  10. I put the washer on the cam arm where it meets the inner case, which i see now is incorrect? I looked at the diagram again, from what I can tell, it should be sitting on the top/outside/ of the arm? fit it over the white spot, basically.
  11. That also settled the cam arm meeting with the plate, it now meets where it should and is catching properly!
  12. Dove back in. Started playing with the bolts. Yesterday I was having trouble tightening them because the center if the clutch was spinning. Today as I was playing with the bolts there was a loud click, pressure released somewhere something grabbed, then the center stopped spinning, I checked all the bolts for torque. I can no longer wiggle the plates, everything is tight.
  13. This is why I'm here, thank you @toodeep for being patient and following along. Will dive back in tomorrow morning.
  14. I have to step back, I have a super to eat, will report back in acouple hours....
  15. The clutch lifter cam and plate seem to be sitting there very precariously, and the arm is barely catching the plate. Are the clutch bolts suppose to be tightened right down?
  16. Referring to the manual it says the arm should be pointed to the center of the clutch. Like this?
  17. Is that all that is? How do I remove the lock out? Just remove the spring?
  18. Kick starter is on right(I think) , reverse I’m wondering if I have that correct?
  19. I did not play with that cam chain guide. It is too thick to be a dowel pin. The inner is too small for any of the 8-10mm bolts I have to go through.
  20. Gaskets are finally all cleaned up, the old chain is a smidge longer than the new.
  21. I also just found this on the floor, damnit. I’m working with what I have, as far as a work space and it is less than ideal. Bear with me. It may belong to something completely unrelated to this Honda. May have no notices it before, but it was close to the washer where I found it. If you recognize it as something that goes inside.....if not then that’s good...
