  1. Yesterday, as i was taking stock of the work I have to(choose to) do on the atvs, then looked at the torn seats of my skidoos, the loose bearings in the idle pulleys and boogie wheels, the ignitions switches, intermittent spark problems, no lights etc etc etc, I got a little overwhelmed 😅😅.
  2. Spring after the melt is the best time. When folks realize they left tools out and they’re rusty, they’ll throw them out, or if an atv/skidoo has been sitting in the backyard for acouple years and they are tired of being reminded they own something that doesn’t work. End of May is when I’ve had to bring a trailer to the dump to pick up treasures. My yard is pretty bad, but, in my community, everyone’s yard is bad. So it’s no big deal.
  3. I’ve had the fever for awhile, can’t help it when things are free.
  4. Waiting on some parts for my 300 build, have to sort out wiring issues and a short on my foreman 450s. 2016 Rubicon runs great, I gotta dig in a set the valves though. Then a kodiak 450 doesn't have any compression, don't think an oil change was ever done, so I'll be tearing into the top end at some point. And a little suzuki lt 80 2-stroke that needs a new top end from a failed oil pump. Also a big bear 350 that has a rotten frame, so I'm tearing it down, as a parts bike, then waiting for a none-runner to pop up for sale some day.
  5. I heard my friend's uncle's cousin's estranged drunk dad heating a bolt up with a torch then peed on it. Said it worked like a charm. But,I dunno....
  6. Wow. I can see why Harvey Spooner on Youtube keeps adding to his hoard. The holes in the muffler brackets allow for some adjustments, so I bet these little variations where in mind when it was tacked together. I think I'll hollow out the holes abit more, and make some adjustments to how the fender sits. Today I'm heading out in the morning to do some logging on skidoo, then to the post office around 1:45 to see if some more goodies have arrived (this is the highlight of most days lol) Maybe head to the dump and see what scores I can find! I'm about to order a conversion kit for the front brakes. There's a guy in Canada (Powermodz) that has the kits, but he's not responding to any of my emails, and when I contact him through his youtube account he answers right away, but tells me to email him on his website. I do, but he doesn't respond. Bah! If I order a kit from the states I don't think it will be cost effective, exchange rate is terrible right now. Anyone know anyone in Canada that has these kits? https://powermodz.com/brakes/8365-super-atv-disc-brake-honda-front.html
  7. Ive been using PB blaster alot, then there liquid wrench and the WD40 penetrant. I like PB blaster most.
  8. I just checked lol. The new(used) frame is P, so '93. The old frame has S so '95.
  9. It is listed as fitting 93-2000. I'm pretty sure the quads I'm piecing together are a 93' and a 95'. Oh well, it just needs acouple small adjustments.
  10. Update! I ended up throwing the new head on without lapping the valves. I’m probably going to have to go back in someday to do just that, but I’m still waiting on the lapping tool, it’s been 3 months now, the snow is melting, and I’ve got more projects coming up, so I need my shed space. SHE FIRED RIGHT UP GREAT SUCCESS. I bought a replacement muffler off of eBay. Dont do it. None of the mounting bolt brackets line up with the frame, and the bend isn’t correct near the muffler, it sits out and is too close to the fender plastic. Have any of you had to deal with something like this before? Should I try heating the pipe of the muffler and bending it correctly? The mounting bolt holes are all about a half inch off, I think I’ll make those holes bigger, and see where it takes me. Pics are coming...
  11. I wanna say if its been sitting for 4-5 years with little use, maybe fuel/pulse lines have dried/cracked?
  12. This is what I was going for initially, but I wasn't planning on filling the rear diff with grease.
  13. Good eyes goober, there are brackets just like the original to bolt a heat shield to the muffler. The one from the old 300 was completely useless. I have acouple of heat shields floating around that I might try to bend and make them work.
  14. Hmmm, the muffler I was sent is all one piece. Guess I’ll save this for my 450s!
  15. Can’t find anything about these two parts in the manual, they came with the muffler. I’m assuming the green ring acts as a washer to meet the cylinder head? But the other grey piece? It’s a hard felt-like material.
  16. Adding a disc is ultimately where I'd like to go with this project. Just not sure where to start. Ok, so doubling up the bearings won't seal it very well. I might keep it the way it is for now and see how it runs. With an installed zerk. Does your custom block have the same inner diameter as the old brake housing panel? Can you post acouple more pics, with different angles for this mod? I have a bunch of disc brake calipers laying around. In my mind the tricky part is figuring out how to get the disc on the axle, and this bearing block...
  17. Well, there are two sealed bearings installed, and I plan on filling the tube with some grease. I know you're not going to like it shade, it'll just be something I'll keep an eye on.
  18. I deleted the rear brake , and shaved down the panel.
  19. Well guys, the parts have been trickling in! Today I got the muffler, and am EXTREMELY tempted to throw on the head and cover and fire it! Still waiting on the lapping tool......but man! Should I!? Lol. Currently going through my misc bolt buys to find the correct bolts and nuts for the muffler. The rear axle , hubs and nuts where sent in three different packages. Received the hubs last week. They are nice. Hoping the rest make it in this week, but eBay isn’t updating the tracking for the other packages so I’m worried. got the 6007 bearings installed. Hope that will add some support to the rear. They fit nice.
  20. My community is on the shore of a salt water bay. While I can’t confirm it, I think it’s safe to say it was always run in salt water and put away wet. This is the same situation as I was in with my 300 build. I bought a replacement used frame for the 300. The rot doesn’t seem as bad, I think I might hang on to everything in case I stumble upon another big bear.
