  1. sure glad to help.... be sure to keep us updated. oh that pic was one i snagged online... lol.... someone did post soaking the gasket in clean motor oil... that might work, i couldn't rightly say... but i do find that very interesting.
  2. nice score! goober...... you luck up on all the treasures.... lol! might have to ask you.... to keep an eye out for a 424 kickout.
  3. it sure wouldn't take long with a setup like you described.... even more efficient then a skidder ..... bobby Goodson (God rest him) did swamp logging, they made roads out of the trees they harvested.. that's pretty much how they delimbed them... drive right over the top snapping the limbs off in the process, but still had to buck them and load up, Goodson atl was a monster logging outfit...
  4. i don't see that it would hurt using a very small amount.... I've seen people use gobs of that rtv sealant, when just only a very small amount is needed, most times it's because the surfaces haven't been cleaned well enough. but i would not use rtv on a honda period! some of the post here... show the damage from using but there are people that use it, and have no issues at all..... just depends on how it's aplyed..... for instance .... i had a truck small diesel toyota i purchased used, and it had a new thermostat installed, the PO had used rtv sealant..... with this engine... the thermostat has a jiggle valve to alow the coolant to reach the upper level of the housing, but the engine would get overly warm, then the temp would drop all the sudden.... so i checked, and sure enough the jiggle valve was plugged by rtv sealant, and wouldn't allow the coolant to reach the upper side of the thermostat, once i cleaned it out it worked fine from then on.
  5. welcome to ATVH.... i hope Ida didnt effect you much, it been bad down your way.
  6. lol! oh i know .... recall some of the stories.... i just had to post that option to see what you would say (painted a picture very well) but you know just as well as i do it's so much fun to get them fired up, just make sure if you try this plan there is NO food coloring in the house ...... sigh... i do t know how good your memory is... seems really good so i will just say .... sleep with one eye open , or you might end up being dyed pink, and shaved bald.... like i was.... if she's a red head... you might just very well avoid this idea altogether.... i was born in April ... so i live for pratical jokes.... one that was always caused trouble....with my pop, and friends) besides that johndeere block heater, that would buzz you if you touched the tractor with out unplugging it) well actually ... they didnt believe the warning sign i stuck on the tractor (warning shock hazard) I'll have to look, that thread up, but anyways.... i was the worlds worst about collecting bic lighters..,always tryed to bum a lite... and I'd carefully have a convo going, and stick the lighter in my pocket... and one day he caught on...said i know what your doing now, give me back all those lighters!!! and told everyome else.... haha! i reckon i had collected about 25 plus from defrent people.... from then on.... no one would give me a light, oh the stories i could tell...I'd most likely be under the Maury county jail.... lol!
  7. i see it, I'd like to see a closer pic if you manage to get a few.. just from what i can make out.. doesn't look like any harvester ... I've ever seen before.

just what i thought is happening that cold front has stalled out the storm front, i see now the storm is slightly expanding just over bowling green Kentucky ... jeep y'all might get some of this after all.
  9. jeep... just an idea... now i say this to help out, but i bet if you try this it will backfire.... when you toy with her like in the other thread, and she gets back at you, you do the same with a fire out on the patio.... use this plan at your own discretion... lol!
  10. y'all put me to shame.... i might as well give up burning wood..... lol! i bet sled is watching this and laughing .... he's another one, i know he's a hoarder of chainsaws.... sigh... lol!
  11. oh I'm very envious ..... dang fire wood hoarders ..... you and Bcs ... lol!
  12. no problem... just curios as to if it was weeping oil at the jug base before you ever broke it down.
  13. even of you didnt take that steering stem bushing cap off... I'll ask this is it dented ? or the light shinning on it messing with my veiw ? if so, wouldn't be hard to knock that dent out some, while you have access to it (no plastic in the way) it was steering just fine before you even started taking it apart ? I'm with the guys take the inner tie rod ends off the steering stem yoke ... when you have it raised check each side (left and right) knuckle for binding up, along with the steering shaft rotation.

glad to have you back... fish.... the pics show some major devastation ..... i thought maybe this one might be as bad as Katrina... at least from your description the flooding looks to be I'm like jeep just amaised at the resilience of the people... and pitching in to help there niegbors in need.... just a long clean up process now, but y'all have always over come the devastation.... as you said in another post.. y'all were on the east side of the storm, and from my understanding .. that's worst (or one of) sides to be on... unless being directly in the path of the eye... from my math... y'all were about 90 miles due north east of the eye ? I'm glad the storm surge wasn't as bad as the news made out, to change this up some, i was woken this morning from a smell, i can never forget... the same scent when a tornadoe touches down... it's hard to explain this smell, but it always gains my attention..best way i can explain it is a smell of destruction, it sure brought back some bad memories for me, and have been thinking about all those times this morning. thank you bighanded ... it was just an idea, but this thread is so popular it might not need to be a sticky, it's not up to me, just an idea i had, because MTEARS has provided me with much better (top notch) reports where as the news / media has not even come close, and this thread does the same just about top notch information from around the country where our members are located.
  15. you will hear many deferent opinions.... https://www.hondaatvforums.net/threads/1995-trx300fw-top-end-gasket-question-for-mudding.98466/
  16. did you install a new steering stem bushing ? and grease it well ? from your other posted pics... i see a defrence in the clamp caps, same bike, but one pic looks like the cap has some damage, while the other does not.
  17. no sir.... but i get the feeling it's not pleasant ... lol.
  18. plus side ? the smell and driving the same area... (avoiding difficult traffic conditions)
  19. been there myself bro... lol what have you been hauling ?
  20. well I'm glad you've changed your mind about that bike :-) i can completely understand about taking a break.

you don't have a repeater yourself, right ? but you can get the local repeater owner to request to be linked.... but a note ... MTEARS is only activated during disaster times / severe weather etc etc... it's not activated very often, and is only about spotting and information, not at all like a regular ham club tx/rx chat... https://wcares.org/repeater-network/mtears-frequencies/#:~:text=Regional Frequencies Repeater Name , 107.2 6 more rows http://mtears.org/

just change the subject... just a tad.... and for what i believe is a valid reason... i would like to recommend this string be made a sticky... i have gained very valuable information ... from members in defrent areas, along with helpfull links / sites...and those members basically are the same as MTEARS ... right there with eyes on the weather, in there area..... we would not know exactly how things are if it wasn't for this fact, it also.... helps us keep in touch with members who might be in path of on coming weather situations what ever they might be.... from huricains to drought conditions severe weather, flooding, dangerous winter conditions, and forest fires..... etc etc. and a big thank you to melatv for starting this thread.

thankfully Ida has moved out of liousiana ..... TEMA (Tennessee Emergency Management Agency) . is headed down to help out, I'm not sure where the staging point will be just yet... MTEARS has been activated... for help with communications..... and the concern now is when this cold front will meat up.... this could make for a major severe weather out break, as this plays on.
