On another note. My plexi arrived. Totally not what I asked( reverse engraved vs printed black), but apparently they have sent another one out done correctly so I have two I guess.

Well it still does a good job when it welds. Now that You got me headed in the right direction I can cut time more then half and not spend soo much time trying to get it started. Man I really appreciate you pointing out the duty cycle. I would never of known.

Yeah man that was it! I can actually get it to arch and start a pool and go with a lot less amp. It actually works on the recommended settings now. Still looks like crap, but more practice and I'll get that better. Thanks Fish. Your awesome man! I'll be up all night now lol

Ok I thought swapping the leads would mess something up. I have watched a good bit of vids. They helped tremendously. The way it is now it's like I have to darn near max out the amps to weld anything. Them I have to move fast or burn holes. I'll swap the leads and start from scratch.

BTW the ones in the pic were the worst as the weld would never only go to one piece of metal no matter the amp setting

Well i have 3/32 and 5/32 - 6013 and 6011 rods. I honestly haven't the slightest clue if they are for DC or not. I got this welder due to needing to weld stainless bolts on a big stainless humidifier tank at work. Been practicing since. I just got what ever the shop who sold me them had. Maybe these aren't dc rods? Idk what brand the couple I have now are but the pic is what the shop I got the welder from sold me. Those are 1/16"

Yep that's it. I'm using it on 120v.

Hardest part of welding for me is dialing in this welder. It's a cheapo $500 Forney stick welder. The recommended settings do not match the material welded. Burned a few holes here and there, but I also learned how to fill those holes in with the welding sticks. Learning in progress makes us better. 🍻

Used the piece of the factory grab bar I cut off and tacked it on the front bumper. Looks cool. Figured I'd get more practice welding. I should get my plexi in the mail soon.

The tech in me says the 2 stroke oil got to that idle screw. Idk just throwing ideas out, nice fixer tho I'll keep an eye out for one. The little ones would love something like that during summer months. Looks like fun

All that 2 stroke oil has the carb gummed up get err done lol. Makes me want to buy one for the grand kid lol

Hey when you checked the ignition switch did you bypass all 4 wires or 2?

Good day to be on the lake here breezy 74° lol. I bet that won't last too long. I scalped the front yard a couple days back. Lots of green grass sprouting up.

Oh at this point I'm just considering rebuild or buy new options. I have to justify money spent for a bike that will never see off-road action and only be used to put around the streets. I'll likley never drop a dime on hp mods, though fitting the electrical and exhuast to the new engine would require mods I assume. Thank you for your time.

If you have some free time you mind reading over( this )old post? It sums up why I am concidering the x, mods, hp, and so forth. Also looks sorta easy to fit plus it's a new engine vs something that would need a top end rebuild in hopes the bottom is worth running. Lots to consider when buying then dumping money into engines from the 80s. That would likely run $1k+ at that point I may as well get a real powerful quad and if I did 700 would be in the description. The next one will be a couch lol All in all I'm trying to keep it free and or cheap as possible with this little one.

The thought did cross my mind even thought of using the torches To make a sump to catch all the debris. Idk I'm doing my research on a few things. Web search finds guys pumping 20-27hp heavy modded and hanging with the 300and 400ex. Stroked and ported of course. That's least of my concerns. I honestly like planning smart decisions ahead, so if I can find a legit seller of the engine I posted that can verify the engine uses the same aftermarket parts I'll just get that and make it work. Just seems like the more responsible thing to do. And hey I couldn't hurt to say I still have the original engine un modified. Plus guys here already said the 200sx is a crap engine lol

So I did a bit of searching the net and found the X to have the same top end and is said to have bottom end support. With that today I came across this ebay deal. Has very good reviews and is sold on other legit sites with the same reviews. If it has the same internals as the X I'll just get that and upgrade later. I'm no purest with this little quad lol.
