  1. Weight Loss, becoming more lean, etc. It all should really mean the same, regardless of the words we use as we know the pure weight isn't the real issue. I've been up and down, like many others. I had a few surgeries in a row and allowed myself to get up to 290 lbs. You may not know that if we were in person as I carry it a bit differently. Recently I had to stop training for a boxing match (I box amateur, Masters USA Boxing) due to the stress I was recently putting on a recently cleaned out right knee. I backed out of my March 12th match and am not focused on getting down to about 240 lbs and will again start training for a match. Meanwhile, I'm not just staying at home but still doing the activities I need to do, just not as frequent. I would say where I would go in for eight sessions a week, four of those were to spar or to run the bags (simulate rounds) or otherwise to up the conditioning and other benefits. The other sessions were either weight lifting or skill work. Shadow boxing was daily. The scale is just a general guide and I'm not overly focused on it BUT it is a tremendous gauge to how things are going. Assuming I get down to 240 lbs I'd have to switch from the scale to the mirror to see where I should land. 201+ is the heaviest weight classification and I don't THINK I can get that low and sustain it, but I won't really know until I get down there. Most likely I'll land around 230 lbs and be a good bodyfat %. So ... that's a brief background. I'm down to 278 lbs as of this morning. All I've really done is reduce my night snacking (fresh cookies are an issue) and tried to reduce how many calories I drink. I WILL drink some calories while at deer camp or a camping outing, but outside of that I need to remove it. I'm challenging all here to improve their bodyfat and fitness. I'd even go as far as to host a little contest to add a small incentive. That's what this thread is really about. We would make the loss % be the marker as pure numbers are a bit unfair for some. Maybe you aren't as overweight as I am, maybe you just want to drop 5 or 10? Super! I'd track the numbers and report back and keep you anonymous. Some want it that way, others don't care. Whose in? Maybe each drop a few dollars in and the winner gets a gift card or something, who knows? Proposed Rules <- Give me input on this Everything is on the honor of the participant. Contest will be based on % lost Contest to run until mid-July, or some other time. Contestants can remain anonymous, but I will have to know who you are in order to track. Weekly, Monday check-ins. If no check in, then participant gets the most recent numbers. Use the same scale each week. The outcome of getting healthier should be enough, but a little prize never hurts, either. We may put a small amount in the kitty if that helps. What else?
  2. Which one did you have that didn't last long?

    Weather

Wow, that's cold! I spent a full six months near Fairbanks while in the Military, and it was also cold, so I feel your pain! I camp during the Winter around me, but I don't know if I'd go out in that or not!
  4. I finished the install for my winch today. I won't keep the hook on the end, and I'll snug up the bobber-stopper a bit. Also, I'm going to replace the fairlead in a few weeks.
  5. It hurt my head to type! I would generally agree on the pre-Chrysler jeeps. Having a family, etc. and using it for my general vehicle I had to wait until the 4 door (JKU) came out to get one. I do enjoy it.
  6. I have a Jeep also, but a Wrangler. I also have a Rancher 420. If I added all the things that California required to be road ready, to my Rancher, I'd have another Jeep, but I'd call it a Rancher. But I have a trailer, so no need. I'll attached the trailer to the Jeep then put the Rancher on the trailer. I COULD have someone drive the Jeep, with the trailer attached, holding my Rancher, with me sitting on the Rancher, and I could FEEL like I'm driving it on the road, but I suspect that would be a DIFFERENT violation, resulting in a ticket. So I won't do that.
  7. * high five I'll reserve a hug for some other time, though.
  8. I don't think there is any issue. And no kissing. A hug at best.
  9. Now you have a pocket full of change. Save that and your retirement is set!
  10. Alright. I was basically just mentioning who had the good idea.
  11. Jeez, sorry I didn't get the quote exactly right. I covered the intent, didn't I?
  12. My fur is now unfluffed. I spent some time in the dryer with an anti-static sheet, all good now. I generally like order, but when my incompetency at a skill arrives I work hard to "let it go, man" and I do. I suggest you avoid my posts when I run the wire for this winch, that may explode your head like that old movie, Scanner.
  13. I've been following along on this thread. You are doing things I would NEVER attempt. I'm now emotionally invested in the outcome. I'M ROOTING FOR YOU.
  14. I finished up some plastic surgery on my atv. See the following link for that thread, if you wish. Cutting A Bit Of Plastic - What To Use?
  15. I purchased a WARN Winch Kit to keep with me when I'm on anything but a trivial ride. I will spend quite a bit of time reclaiming allowed multi-use forestry roads that have been ignored for some time and using the winch or the two straps to get trees out of the path will come in handy. Why did I mark on my kit? I do that with all of my stuff just to make it easy to identify. Sometimes it keeps an almost honest man honest, but it also keeps from making simple mistakes like picking up someone else's kit, since these are a frequent purchase.
  16. I purchased a roto-drill (Dremel) type thing. I purchased it initially for some plastic surgery on my atv but I figure I'll have uses for it beyond that one task.
  17. Thread dedicated to your purchases, whatever they may be. When you actually DO something to/with your atv, use the thread titled What Did You Do With Your ATV Today
  18. My apologies to @Fishfiles, I overreacted to his input. I wasn't upset or anything like that, but it may have appeared that way in print.
  19. Thanks. I would say that if this was an easily visible fender, I would not have had that been my "first go" as this was. I would not have experimented, etc. I plan on messing many more things up. I'm not a mechanic, nor so I work on my house, etc. I'm new at this. I have TREMENDOUS apprehension doing things like this as my aversion to failure is high on things I'm new at. Installing this winch hurts my head, but I ALSO have a high desire to do as much as I can to take care of and mod my atv. This site is TREMENDOUS for that.
  20. Here is the progression of my first attempt at cutting some plastics. Remember, it's under my atv so I wasn't worried about messing up as I could clean it, as I did. Far Left: On the left is showing the plastic hitting the wiring post. Even if I just notched for the wiring post the winch would be hit. Middle: Raw and not dusted off. You can see where some of went "ok", and others got away from me a bit. I did take the advice from several people (thanks!) but I clearly messed up here and there. I didn't clean it up (at that time). A fellow member, @_Wilson_™, suggested I put it here to show people what happens if you go the wrong speed, use the wrong bit, etc. I thought that was a good idea and put it. I used several different bits (cutter, grinder, sander, spiral) to see what they would do. Some of my experimentation had nasty results, but again, it was underneath so I was ok with it. Far Right: I cleaned it up as far as I'm going to. I COULD have removed more plastic to get the lines to be better, but that would just to be for the sake of aesthetics, and I decided to not do that. No sharp corners or burrs exist, and in the end it turned out "ok". Summary: I'm not necessarily proud of how it turned out, but I did overcome my apprehension of cutting on my brand new atv, and got it done. It's functional.
  21. Well gee, thanks. I did use the spiral bit, and others, first. Since this is under my machine, it really doesn't matter, and as I've said, I will go back and clean it up. The photo makes it look worse than it is and when I finish it will look much better. But thanks for the kind words. That's what get for putting something up here to demonstrate how something didn't go quite right. I shall not do that again.
  22. I purchased a Dremel type device and just a bit ago I removed the part of the plastics that was preventing me from reattaching my plastic. I also left a bit of room for the wiring to come through. As you can see in the below photo, some of the cutting was clean, and some wasn't. As others have mentioned, if you use the wrong speed you can get a bit melty, and that's what happened at the bottom. Since this was my first time and nobody (other than this forum, as I was told!) was going to see it, I played around with the speed. You can see the part that I got wrong. If this was a visible piece, I would not have experimented and would have even taped off the area to prevent some of those random marks where the roto-drill had a mind of its own. Tomorrow, I'll use the grind wheel and drum sander and clean the edges up. Even though it looks like !, it worked well and got the job done. Thanks to all those that helped out in this thread.
