  1. Bofore using loctite i would get a nylock nut. My lonestar steering stem came with one and i still put the cotter pin in for good measure. But the nylock nut should make it stay put and still be able to be removed down the road.
  2. Yep those would do it. The only scary part of changing them is those collector bolts can be very stuck. And can even snap sometimes. So changing those is always a last resort.
  3. Awesome! So were making progress. Only thing is the popping now. I would have to at this point bet its the header gaskets leaking.
  4. Sounds like exhaust leak to me! Hows it run otherwise? Shouldnt be getting mega hot anymore?
  5. Both jets get tightened all the way. The pilot mixture screw you do not. But that is more than likely a D shaped screw that you wont be able to turn without the special tool.
  6. Ok remove these 4 screws. You will want to do this process as fast as possible. Once the rubber bowl gasket gets gas on it and is in open air it will start to expand. Making it harder to get back on. If were quick enough it will not expand much and go right back on. Take a picture when the bowl is off. You may also want to remove the big phillips screw holding the idle adjustment screw. It will make lining the bowl back up easier.
  7. No problem bud! I may be alittle slower than normal. Got the family at the cincinnati zoo and newport aquarium this weekend.
  8. Yeah should get you closer for sure. The big one is the 40 pilot. The popping is more than likely from when its switching from main to pilot cercuit. The 40 should also make it start easier in the cold. So thats a big plus. The 38 pilot is lean right out of the factory. And removing the lid made it leaner.
  9. Welcome aboard! We all came from other failed sites lol. But its their loss! This place is better! Haha
  10. Heck yeah man! Im glad i could help you get this thing ripping again! That old carb was holding it back alot. It wasnt even a sport quad carb lol. You think its fast now. Just wait till when you get it tuned properly!

  13. I get mine at jetsRus.com you just buy individual jets though. Thats the downside. Those cheap ones come in kits with a bunch. Also oem ones are about what you paid for that whole kit each.
  14. I will warn you though. Those cheap jet kits like that arent always drilled properly. Just ran into this like 30 minutes ago tuning my brothers pit bike. He ordered a cheap kit like that and all of the pilot jets were actually drilled the same size but numbered different. They were all smaller than his stock one and the thing wouldnt even run after changing it. Thats when we found the problem. I buy only oem keihin jets.
  15. Yep those are the right ones. The one you had in your hand was wrong.
  16. Ummm. That isnt the right main jet at all? The right main jet is a small hex not a round jet. Those are mikuni jets. Not keihin.
  17. Yep thats the exact swing arm skid plate that the chain would be hitting. Its most likely bent and making contact with the chain near the bottom of the rear sprocket.
  18. Does the quad have a skid plate on the swing arm? Take the carb off and take a picture of the bottom. I will draw an arrow to each screw to remove and when the bowl is off i will label the jets for you bud!
  19. Haha for sure. Taking carb apart is super easy. Dont know of a youtube video though. You had to airbox off and put the carb on. Its kinda reverse of what you did. I suggest removing the gas tank again though so you can take the carb over off the side and have plenty of length to get at it!
  20. Main jet yes. Pilot jet not on that carb. You gotta remove the bowl. But you can leave the throttle cable attatched tho! Just gotta remove the filter box and remove the carb and take the screws out of the bowl.
  21. If your gunna put the airbox lid back on i would only be upping the pilot 1 size. And the main 1 size. So 40 pilot. 150 main. Stock is 38/148. If your gunna leave the lid off. Which is kinda free power. I would go 40/155.

  23. Airbox lid will go on. But you are missing the white plastic snorkle coming out the front of the box. If you put the lid on it will seal off and you will get no air into the engine. It wont run long if it all without that snorkle. Im glad you got jets! What is your elevation? As long as your under 5000 to 10,000 feet above sea level i can get your jetting near dialed.
  24. Video 2. Sounds like chain hitting the skid plate on the swing arm. If it has one? Or chain rubbing on something no doubt. The pop is a lean pop no doubt. To get rid of it jetting the carb will be required. The reason you need to jet it is the airbox lid has been removed. The snorkle has also been blocked off it looks like so you cant just put the lid back on either.
  25. Take it for a rip. And then do a video of revving it. My bet is its a lean pop happening. But go clear it out a bit! Let her eat alittle bit!
