  1. If your planning on building your own exhaust header you will need to be pretty skilled at welding very very thin tube. Best option is stainless. There are alot of things that can be done but the way to perfect it requires alot of calculations and a flow bench. Are there any aftermarket places that make a pipe for the 200sx? The aftermarket places would have already done all those calculations and save you alot of leg work. If not this process gets alot harder. Its not a simple bigger is better situation. Pipe length and diameter all play a roll. But there is a point where its too much and a point where its too little. And this is where trial and error with a flow bench are necessary. With alot cheaper material at first obveously lol.
  2. The other reason you will see them on alot of race quads mainly the pro's is it helps with scavanging of exhaust gasses and can also change the tone to abide by the decible limits required for racing in a particular class. But yeah the 250r is a 2 stroke and there would be no benefit from putting that big of an expansion chamber on a 4 stroke at all.
  3. Yep i run one step hotter for my 12:1 big bore stroker 400ex. Stock plug for sure! Get like 4 so you can do some plug chops. Welcome to the world of tuning! Its a pain but well worth it in the end! Btw. Didnt take a video but i started my quad today. It got up to 6 degrees so a heat wave lol. Did choke it but it fired on 2nd revolution. 400s are notoriously cold blooded. But mine isnt at all. Proper tuning makes all the difference in the world!
  4. I just got a kick out of you calling 27° cold lol. We saw a high yesterday of -2. Today we may get out of the negatives. Wind chill was -30 yesterday. Today wind chill should be single digits to teens. Gunna feel like a heat wave monday with a high of 15° lol
  5. I do residential hvac installs. Mostly retro fitting but sometimes new construction build outs aswell. Havent been doing it for 12 years tho. I did appliance repair since i was a kid working for my family business. Transitioned to hvac 2 years ago. When covid finished off the appliance repair business already on its death bed. (Throw away world)
  6. Plastic tanks on air cooled engines isnt an issue as long as its jetted right and you dont plan on driving stop and go through town or something lol. All 400ex are air cooled and have a plastic tank and i have never had a problem. And i have seen alot of them jetted crazy lean and not have any problem either. You braze for work? I do too! HVAC-R?
  7. Nice! Yeah i have 4. A rustler 4x4. A e-revo, a tamiya tt-01 touring car, and a tt-01 euro truck. Did some local carpet club racing last year. But the local hobby shop closed. So now waiting for a new place a friend is starting up to race this year.
  8. This is exaxtly what we are here for. Helping people out. If you want me to remove any of my replys not related to your jetting. just let me know. Any mod or admin can help you with that aswell to de-clutter your threads. As long as its not censoring anyone or removing peoples posts because you dont like them or what they said. We will be glad to help.
  9. No problem. After a certain amount of time it wont let you change the title yourself. Cant remember the exact time frame. But any mod or admin can change it for you at anytime. And will be glad to do so for you.
  10. Yamaha blaster or 250x would all be the same length. You can find some aftermarket shocks for 300ex or blaster from time to time. I have seen some old TCS shocks and old works shocks on ebay. My daughters trx90 runs stock blaster front shocks all the way around. Made a huge difference on her quad. But stock trx90 shocks are kinda hilarious. They look like rc car shocks lol. I know for sure some lawnmowers have more travel than a stock trx90 haha.
  11. No problem! The jetsRus site is alittle hard to navigate. May be easier to call. I have had great luck with them and they ship super fast. My brother got one of those amazon kits and we ended up throwing it in the trash. He couldnt figure out why after re-jet his little pit bike ran worse. We found all jets to be drilled the same and they were main jets drilled small enough to be pilot jets. They all had number printed on them 75-125 and they were all more like a 20 or 30 at best lol. He couldnt even hit the throttle without it just bogging and stalling lol. Got some kehine jets and it runs perfect.
  12. +1 on jetsRus. Used them many times. Your talking 5-6 bucks a piece but oem kehine jets. Avoid aftermarket from anyone but shindy. Shindy are aftermarket but drilled right. Most of the cheap ones on ebay or amazon will say they come with 10-20 different sizes and all are drilled identical size.
  13. Yeah i saw the end of the lsu game. As much as i have a strong dislike for michigan and harbaugh. Cant say they didnt deserve that win. They 100% played better than we did in every way. We sold out to stop the run and they made us pay for it. I honestly think michigan will go into the cfp and be dismantled as they always are. I would think if they put osu in the cfp they will play harder. Cuz chances are it will be last games they get to play for Ryan Day. He will almost undoubtably be gone next year sadly. Or atleast thats what statistics show.
  14. Welcome to the forums! Have you ever adjusted the clutch free play? These dont have a traditional manual clutch assembly. Its a centrifugal clutch more like a utility quad. The trx90 my daughter has was slipping really bad when we got it a few years ago. Did an adjustment and hasnt slipped since. Ours is a 2002 with the stock clutch still in it. All you do is loosen the lock nut on the right side cover it has a flat tip screw down the center. Turn the flat tip screw (counter clockwise) until you feel resistance and at that resistance point go an 1/8 turn (clockwise) tighten the lock nut. Cant hurt to try it and see if it solves your slipping. I had to do it a few time turning in and out to feel the resistance difference.
  15. You can add alittle heat to the casting around the bearings. But dont go crazy. The cast should expand at a way faster rate than the hardened material the bearings are made of. I would put some pressure on it with the seperator and heat it gently. It will probably start popping and moving little by little.
  16. I use a case serperation tool like this one. Screws into the holes in the case halves and pushes against the end of the crank.
  17. I would suggest going over the normal stuff. Make sure it hasnt thrown a chain and cracked the cases. Always remove the case saver if the seller will allow. If not get in there with a flash light. I always do a compression test on any 2 stroke i look at. If the seller wont let you do that make 100% sure they havent started and warmed it up before you get there. Witness a cold start. I have legit turned and walked from a deal when the seller wouldnt do this. 250r's arent a problematic machine. But at its age anything could be worn out. Check carrier bearings and all the front end parts for excessive looseness. I would put the quad up on the back grab bar and look closely at the frame. 250r's almost every single one was raced at some point. Cracks and bent frames are common in racing.
  18. Saving a 135 per month dropping at&t is kinda blowing my mind. We have 4 lines and unlimited data and our bill is 162? Either spectrum is that cheap or maybe prices are that different up north? But being we just got a metal roof installed on our house i am eager to see what can improve my cell signal. Although havent really noticed much of a change we arent living at the house fulltime yet since we gutted and are remodeling. So maybe i am in for a surprise lol.
  19. That is without a doubt a 400ex carb. The dyno jets go on a different scale completely. So yes number would be way crazy. They are also round with a flat head slot in them. Where the oem jets are hex jets.
