Well, I sold off one of the Can Ams. No, I didn't replace it with a Honda, but did get a different machine. Was able to upgrade 4 years to a 2020 Can Am 570 Outlander Max. 4 years newer, 1200 less miles, and same color as my wife's. Was able to buy it from my brother who decided that getting out on the mountain trails was getting to be more and more difficult for him due to some health issues. So even though used, I know the history of and how well it was cared for. I was able to keep the wheels and tires off of my other machine, removed the breadlock rings and repainted them to match atv color. Just have to add a winch and heated grips. Bummed my brother is fine with riding but he took the funds and bought himself a Can Am Spyder. Being a 3 wheeled bike he doesn't need to worry about leg strength sums balance issues. Will miss riding the trails with him, but look forward to the road rides with him, my sister, and her husband on our Gold Wing. Looking forward to hitting the trails this summer on my new to me rig.

Not gonna happen Jeep! I did give her the windshield off of the one I sold, the one I bought didn't have heated grips. I think she's gonna want to keep hers.

Yeah cylinder isn't too bad but after I replaced the valves it is still smoking (and yes I lapped the valves my father-in-law who is a mechanic for 40+ years came over and helped me). I also checked the front and rear diffs and while they are low, the fluid is clean and not milky. When I pulled the cylinder head off this morning there was a puddle of oil on top of the piston, so I'm pretty sure the rings are bad? I did make sure it was top dead center before I started removing anything maybe it's from the piston moving up and down a few times? Either way pretty sure oil should not be on top of the piston head. When I removed the cylinder the rings on the piston were not lined up they were staggered I did check that as well, pretty sure you all know what I'm trying to say. I'm going to the post office to ship the cylinder off to G&H for machining this afternoon. Will post after pics when I get it back.

Nice looking machine. For some reason you don't really see a lot of Yamahas around here. Everything is Honda, with Can Am and Polaris being a distant 2nd. From what I've read, and some of the ancient Yamahas I do see around here, I think they would be right up there with Honda were I looking for a new machine.

That's a really nice rig your brother bought. 👍 I must admit to you gentlemen that like Freedomflyer I have joined the dark side. The Rubicon is up for sale. I bought a 2024 Yamaha Grizzly 700 EPS XT-R. Pick it up from the dealer probably Thursday. Go ahead and jab away guys. 😄

this ^^^...tells me its a fuel issue. as in..the air fuel mixture is not correct.

ok. did you flush the fuel tank out before you installed the carb ?. did you check the pick-up fuel filter on the bottom side of the tank ?. did you check to make sure you were getting plenty of fuel from tank to carb ?. all of this will give you problems. it sounds like you got some trash in your carb from a dirty tank ?..or..you are not getting the right amount of fuel from tank to carb ?. anytime i build an atv, i always try to cover all bases when it comes to getting my engines to run right. also, check to make sure your choke cable is working right ?.
