It's HERE!😕🥶Supposed to be -5 Friday night, waaaaayy to early for that crap. Supposed to be 13 tomorrow morning at 8a.m. then get colder tomorrow night.
  2. Have to clarify the Rock crawling around Sylvan Lake. Always amazed at the clarity of the phone camera, pretty incredible.
  3. Know this is an old thread but was just there, wife's mom and sister live in Rapid. She has a cousin who has a 2nd home in Lead(Leed) we stayed there and toured around for a few days. Always amazed at Rushmore, only took 14 years to complete. Been going down there for 41 years, Crazy horse isn't even close. First time I saw it was just a flat leveled area with a would become his armpit area. And does But it would be further is not funded by the government but still, Thought it would be further along after 41 years. Pretty sure it won't be done in my lifetime. It's always a great area to go visit, Hope someday to meet up with my wife's cousins and do a little riding. Did a little rock crawling around Sylvan Lake. Needles highway is always cool, very unique rock formations.
  4. Unfortunately we live in an area where accidents like that can happen, not necessarily due to "Death Fog", (not sure if this is a new thicker type of fog or not, heard of pea soup fog, and brume fog) but due to extremely icy roads and snowy conditions. https://youtu.be/k0_1EV1GXMw?si=NphPl2vGAageSUq3
  5. Improvisation,😁 turn that sucker over and it's to high for the Deck, maybe user wasn't the builder. We're improvising right now with a set of steps that surely weren't built for this concrete patio. They were just on the job site. Dug the dirt down a bit to make it level.
  6. Agreed! Construction wipes out the body, I sure havent been in accident like Shade but the last 35 years of crawling up and down ladders carrying sheathing, siding, building materialsin general, hasn't been so good on the body. I'll admit it I'm a wuss, I too like the independent suspension, PS, and.......really enjoy the no shifting and engine braking of our machines. They're still going Shade!!!😁 Ain't been pulled out yet, will let you know when I do. So might as well ride in comfort, body is worn out. The one I really respect is Derf, not sure what he's riding but at 83, he's a stud. Rode over 60 miles a week or so ago in snow. Pretty cool, hope I'm able to keep going for a long a I can.
  7. Yup, it will be fine, pretty hearty grass here. When we moved into our house, we laid sod on the 30th of October. We woke up to 6 inches of snow on Halloween the next morning, it never left til April of.the next year, it was fine. 😁
  8. Unfortunately the floor is not real wood. Luxury vinyl planks, snap together, 100% water proof. Beings its going to be a vacation rental they had to make some concessions. I put it in the laundry room as well. Then a waterproof tile in bathrooms along with shiplap on the walls. Wood would not be the best choice, needed something durable. They own the farmland, will never be developed. It's in some sort of conservation program. They own thousands of acres, which is huge in this valley. They farm hay and grain. This year they had over 7000 acres of hay alone, over 5000 in grain. It's in a nice setting and should do well as a vacation rental.
  9. Exterior finished and landscaped, last bit of inside work entailed bench seat and hook board made from extremely old and hard fir planks that I have. They have a bit of touch up painting to do am going hoping to get back in for some final pics of everything cleaned up and ready to rent for their first vacation rental clients.
  10. Pretty close at this point.
  11. Skipping a lot of steps, there was so much to figure out on how to finish everything and how to explain to homeowners how things were going to look as well as incorporate their ideas.
  12. Built this house over the course of this last year. Pulled off of it a minimum of a dozen times gor various reasons, 1 time for as long as 8 weeks to build some storage units. Multiple other times due to other subcontractors either not showing up or being delayed, other times to take care of other commitments we had scheduled before starting this particular project. Was supposed to be a remodel of a 1920's/1950's added onto conglomeration. It was an absolute disaster that ended up being completely torn down and starting from scratch on a very crooked uneven basement foundation. Original foundation was only 6 ft from top of basement wall to the basement floor. Had 2 bdrms, 1 up and 1 down with a very disgusting bathroom in the corner of the basement with a shower unit under the stairway. Through multiple conversations with the homeowners, we were able to convince them to start over. This was the extent of our plans we built from, we'll that's not true we did graduate to 1/4" graph paper for a final decision on over all size. But this is where it started. Overall footprint 20X40, original footprint 16X40. We ended up catelevering 4 ft over foundation wall to add 200 square ft to upstairs level. Stairs were moved to other side of the house, added a 2ft pony wall on top of foundation both squaring and leveling as we went. Original basement was a parallelogram and uneven on all 4 corners. Finished floor deck ended up a strong ¹/¹⁶ low on one corner. A miracle considering what we started with. There was alot of conversing through the building process and a lot of reworking things, and mind changing, and reconfiguring due to not having any architectural plans of any kind. Was an interesting project and in the end well worth the effort for the finished product. Ended up moving plumbing for bathroom in the basement basically to the opposite corner then adding another bathroom directly above it on the main floor. Total of 1400 sq. ft. Going to be used as a vacation rental/guest house. Has a beautiful view from living room windows and deck. Unfortunately I lost a bunch of pics from the of the project when I got a new phone. 😕 should've downloaded them before trying to transfer them to the new phone.
  13. Colors were beautiful down low as well.
  14. It's hard to believe that another year is passed. Took my bride on another ride, Wasn't as fun as last year, But was still great to get out. We went with some friends to an area that I've ridden a little bit too often this last month. They had never been up there so took one for the team and took them up to Jackson Creek. I keep saying it's always different each time you go up, especially if you go different times of the day. This particular day was no exception to the rule. This was an absolutely beautiful day, mid-sixties when we got on the trail. Pretty bare up on top but gives a great view of all the mountains surrounding. As always is a great time to be with my bride, Our friends enjoyed the time as well.
  15. @Freedomflyer, I added your list to your entry above and removed it here.
  16. Yikes wonder monkey.!!!!!! Hope that didn't land on you.
  17. This is always one of our favorite parts of the ride.
  18. We've never been in The Swan Creek drainage this time of year, so things looked quite different, normally it's during the summer, so it is always greener, the colors were great. We don't have a lot of different kinds of trees here in the mountains, Fir trees, lodge pole pines, rocky mountain Juniper, and Quaking Aspens. The only ones that really change are the Quaking Aspens, there are different types of ground cover that have different colors, but I have no clue what the different names of those are. Saw several muley Does and thud one small muley buck, also a ton of grouse.
  19. Got up the next morning and headed out around 9:15. After perusing our file of pictures, They decided they wanted to go on the ride that we took my friend Prov on last year. We were so grateful for the weather Saturday, the forecast was for rain but that got pushed back until today. We got on the trail about 10 then. Then about 9 miles in we stopped for a break. I went to the trunk to get some snacks out and discovered. I had left the lunch in the back of the pickup.😕 So......... Hold the trunk off the front of our machine and took off back to the truck. The ride was a 30 plus mile ride and I knew the women were not going to survive without food. My screamed background failed as I could without flying off the corners. It ended up only taking me about 45 minutes to go the 9 miles down and back. Once back we decided to just have lunch where we were. As we dropped down into the other drainage, we started to see some of the fall colors. There was still enough moisture on the trails from the snow we had a couple of weeks ago, so it was not dusty. The day was not a Blue Bird sky day but was pleasant enough with intermittent sun and clouds. Our friends do live near mountains in Wyoming But said our area is totally different than theirs. They really enjoyed the dand we're already talking about Coming back next year. Let me get back that night to the house my friend Ryan was already looking on facebook marketplace in craigslist for a machine. They really enjoyed the comfort of our 2 up Outlander. He said he was going to pursue something, and actually found a package deal of a two up sportsman with trailer, We'll see what they decide to do. Said they want to bring family with them next time, Hope so it's a lot of fun sharing our area with others. We woke up to rain this morning, so was grateful. The weather held out for our time out. We've got a text around one o'clock that they made it home o k And were thankful for the opportunity to make it out again. I know a lot of these areas are repeat, however, Every time we go, It is different times of the year, As well as different times of the day, So things always look different.
