nice write up !. yep, first bad thing with tail light, and i'll bet a dollar to a dime..it wont be the last time you mess up !. I kinda like the idea of relocating the mini rocker switch ?, but the one thing that would bother me is if it hit my legs when making tight turns ?, but if it works for you ?, all good !.

here's a simple trick: before you install the float bowl back on the carb ?, ( this works very well if you have a bench vise ? ) place the carb in the bench vise, attach a fuel line to the carb, use a squirt can, or funnel like retro said ^^, add fuel to carb, all while your holding the float up all the way, when the fuel line is full ?, slowly lower the float, then back up, see if fuel leaks past the float needle ?. think of this as eyes on test ?.

maybe ?, but the problem is, its powder coated on the outside, and when this is done ?, powder coating retains heat, and this was his problem from the start, along with powder coating paint inside the engine !..lol.

you say you replaced the carb ( couple times at that ) , was these purchased from honda ?, or amazon, ebay ?, if the later ?, then they are china junk !!. if they are oem from honda ?, then I would pull the fuel line from the carb, and see if you get good flow when you turn the fuel on ?, if not ?, then its time to have a look at the petcock as to why fuel is not flowing good from it ?. tank full ?.

stuff a rag under the piston around the rod, in that little loop under the cir-clip, take a small screw driver, pry it up out of the groove on the piston end, be careful not to drop it down in the engine !. the cylinder does not look like it has deep grooves in it from looking at your pics ^^ ?, you may get by with a hone, new rings. IF !!!!!!!!!!, YOUR ROD IS OK ?, and your cylinder is not over service limit ?. right now you need to get the piston off the rod, and check it like it was said above ^^^^^^^^. if your rod is bad ?, it time to pull engine, split it, because you will need a new rod on the crank. in the future ?, IF YOU EVER HAVE AN ENGINE THAT THE SPARK PLUG HAS BEEN LEFT OUT OF IT ?..DO NOT CRANK IT OVER AN OVER !!. more than likely rings and cylinder will be rusted over ?, and all your doing Is damage to the cylinder when you do this !!.

deff toss a oil pump in, just in case !!!!.

nope, don't need any parts for my trx450fm, unless you want to splurge for a battery, so I can replace the one I took out of the '88 trx300fw ?. other than this..nah..i'm good bro !. and you will NEVER get me to swamp ride !!, h__ll will freeze over before that happens !..lol.

first get the oil done, then check your battery ?, the es models MUST HAVE A FULLY CHARGED BATTERY TO RUN RIGHT !. BE SURE YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE OIL FILTER BACKWARDS !!!!!!. I can't stress this enough !.
