  1. simple: take the lock nuts off, watch for O-rings, there should be one on each side of that sleave ?, on the inside of the sleave next to the differential, is a oil seal, see if its bad ?. all of these are what keeps your gear oil in the differential. you can down load the service manual from our site for free, that should also hep you :-). you will need to large pipe wrenched to remove the large lock nuts. pull wheel, and hub off first of course !.
  2. the fenders I brought home from my buds place came off an 88 red trx350D, and they don't have foot wells on the rear splash guard to attach to the foot rest. but my '89 has foot wells.

  5. pretty sure this ^^^^ was covered some pages back ?, check rod play at top and bottom, mic cylinder for specs , if out of service limit ?, will require a bore job, larger size piston to match cylinder ( piston kit ). if rod is bad ?, now your looking at a complete engine tear down to change out the rod. to check rod play at top: take the wrist pin, slide it into the top of rod: JUST THE OUTSIDE END OF WRIST PIN FLUSH TO OTHER SIDE OF WRIST PIN HOLE IN TOP OF ROD !, now lift up, push down on outside of wrist pin, does it move any ?, if it does ?, your rod is no good at the top !. now grab the rod, while trying not to move crank, push down on rod, lift up on rod, feel any play ?, if so ?, your rod is no good, again..COMPLETE ENGINE TEAR DOWN TO REPLACE ROD !.
  6. your correct, BUT !!!!!!!!!, YOU NEED TO CHECK THE SHAPE OF THE CONNECTING ROD FOR ANY PLAY AT THE TOP WHERE WRIST PIN GOES ?, AND AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THE ROD CONNECTS TO THE CRANK !. if any play is in either spot ?, well..now your looking as a full engine removal, split, tear down, because the rod must be correct !.

  8. well crap, my day just sucked !..lol. I was gonna get my fenders off my '89, swap my newer red fenders on it, then swap the splash guards over onto the blue '88 ?, that..didn't...happen !.lol. first off, my '89 fuel pump went to pouring gas out of the body of it !, thank goodness I had bought a new oem fuel pump for it awhile back !!!. got that changed out, then was looking at the splash guards, and the ones on my '89 are different than the ones on the newer red fenders ?..nope..wont work !. they made them different between '88 and '89 it seems !. the '89 rear splash guards has foot wells on them !!!!. the '88 does not ?, hmmm. trashed that plan all to crap !. and to top all this off ?, my '' some what new battery '' from honda, that has been on a jr charger all this time, some how..lost its charge ??..holly crap bat man !. I was going to use my '03 trx450fm with the winch to winch my '89 out of its resting spot ?, but that did not happen !...lol. sooo, I had to rob the new battery out of the trx300fw, and put it in my trx450fm. now I've got to buy another battery !..sigh. only thing that came out right today ?, is I got the headlight part off the red fenders I brought home, will send them back to my bud. did I loose ya'll on all this ??..lol. bad day to say the least. said screw it, i'm going in, done for the day, had to walk away before I tore something else up !!!..lol. oh..i did get my '89 cranked up after sitting all these months..lol..that poor girl just wont die !!..lol.

  12. haha..yeah, I noticed ya did not clean the outsides up ?. you know how I do on my builds, I can't stand muddy,dirty, greasy looking engines !..lol.
  13. update: first coat of paint on front and rear fender, best I could do, I think they look great so far. the damaged area of front fender looks 1000 times better than what it did look like, ya'll tell me ?.
  14. I heard of, and seen the early 420's with bad fuel pumps, but them being bad on 2019 ?..wow !. guess they coming from china as well eh ?..lol.
  15. most clutches are all blue like that from the factory.
  16. when I say replace the friction disk, its not that they are bad ?, its just something I would do seeing how I was already in there, same goes for oil pump chain. why bust into later on, waste time and another gasket ?, do it once, be done with it is what I was getting at.
  17. your right. sooo..if we think about this, if his reg/rec is bad ?, will this not keep the c.d.i. from firing the spark plug ?, as it has to have dc volts that start at the stator as AC, then reg/rec converts to DC, correct ?.
  18. unless the trx420's are built different than what I was taught by my 20 yr honda vet that retired not long ago ?, I was told by him the stators have two charging sides to them, one side goes to battery reg/rec, then re-charges battery, while other side goes to c.d.i. , soooooo..I don't know what to tell ya ??. to sum it up, if the stator is bad ?..it wont fire the spark plug.
