  1. (How To) load test your battery with a multimeter . In some cases, our Hondas will crank with a bad battery, but the voltage is not enough to operate some of the systems, so it will not start. . In MANY cases, our Hondas will crank AND START, with a bad battery, but the voltage is not enough to operate some of the systems, and then other problems show up. . First step with any troubleshooting is to eliminate possible problems and then move to the next. Even with a new battery, if there are problems, it needs a load test. . Most people do not have a battery load tester, but you can use a multimeter. Hook up your multimeter to the battery. Key off, what is the voltage? Key on, what is the voltage? Turn on EVERYTHING , high beam head light and any other accessory, step on the brake. Now what is the voltage? Now with all that still on, crank it over while watching the voltage. . This test tells us a few things If the voltage never drops, you have a loose wiring problem. If the voltage drops below 10 volts, your battery is weak/bad. If the test shows a weak/bad battery, you may have something drawing power with the key off. Unhook both negative and positive cables. Trickle charge overnight, low amps over a longer charge time is the best way to charge a battery. . And, over night charge, retest after hook up. If it fails this time, you know, bad battery. If it passes, find the power drain. . Have a good day
  2. Howdy and welcome from Northern Iowa. . By any chance, is your idle set to high? Try a slight clutch adjustment maybe? . And nope, I don't know a darn thing about your ride. Just general mechanical knowledge. . I'm sure, someone with more knowledge about your equipment should pop in shortly and help you out. . Have a good day
  3. That time of the year is coming again, so I thought I would post up my firework fuse igniter. . Every year on the Saturday after the 4th of July, we have Our Annual Independence Celebration. This year, it is on the 8th of July, and yes, you are invited. If you come, bring what you want to eat and drink, a side dish to share, and fireworks to add to the night time show. Here was our display setup 2022. . Lots of fireworks throughout the day, gun range, trail riding, BBQ, and then the big show that night. This handy tool makes lighting fuses so much easier, and no burnt fingers. haha . . . . . . . . . A few in use vids Cannon test fail Cannon test pass Cannon tennis ball adaptor . Have a Safe 4th of July, and Have a good day . Edit to add AND IF any of you all patent my idea, send some money to our firework fund. HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! 👍
  4. Yep, old thread, but if I found it, someone else can also. Here is some additional information. . The (CEL)Check Engine Light blinks if there is a Fuel/Ignition issue. DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) In the Service Manual, DTC codes start on page 4-9 . The gear indicator light blinks if there is a transmission or driveline issue. DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) In the Service Manual, DCT codes start on page 11-11 . A long blink is a 10 A short blink is a 1 . Flash codes for fuel injectors: 12 Front fuel injector circuit malfunction(12-1) 13 Rear fuel injector circuit malfunction(13-1) . As @toodeep said, you can get the injector wire ends many places online. I have 2 on hand, for when mine go bad. The little wires inside the wire terminal crimp break. It is Highly recommended to change them both. . Here is a good YouTube about it. . Have a good day
  5. Just a little late to the party. 😁 . I read your thread from the beginning, and the mech in me was thinking something on the exhaust side. Not knowing that your engine had guides that could possibly move or come loose. haha . Being on the exhaust side would make sense though. It would not effect how it was running, because any oil is being pushed out the exhaust as smoke. . If it would have been the intake side, it would pull it into the engine, burn some of it, and eventually start fowling the plugs. . Glad you found the problem and posted back. Now maybe it will help someone else. . Have a good day
  6. Howdy from Northern Iowa, . I bought our "Wild Blue", on 19OCT2021, a 2018 Honda Pioneer 1000EPS 3 seater, warn winch and moose snow plow. . About me... 20 years Army, Retired in 2007. Work for a local trucking company, as a mechanic/computer tech. Wife, 4 children. 2 finished college, 1 still in college. Bought our 40 Acres from my parents in 1996 while still in the service. I grew up here, and I knew I was coming back here to live. . Yes, I know this is an ATV Forum and I have a Honda Pioneer 1000 SxS. I joined because I was helping out on another ATV Forum, and @jeepwm69 mentioned your forum. I have been a mech my entire life. Helped dad with his 18 wheeler, and everything here on the farm growing up. 20 Years in the Army as a mech. I used to tell new Soldiers in training: "Everything is either electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic. Once you know the basics, you can work on anything." So, if I see someone post a question I know about, I'll help if I can. I am not saying I will even be here very often. Probably only once in awhile. I help over on the Honda Pioneer Forum and The Honda SxS Club. Like your forum here, owners are looking for answers. Heck, I even help over on the Polaris General Forum. Even though that was a dumb assbeep.. mistake. hahahaha!! When I joined over there, I thought it was for ALL Polaris's in general.......Not knowing that there was a Polaris called a General. hahaha Hey, if you can't laugh at your own screw ups, just give up living.😁 . We share Our 40 Acres if any of you that are close to us need a place to ride some short trails through woods. I say short, because any trail is fun, and it is a place to ride, but nothing compared to places like Ride Royal Blue. Hunters, Riders or Walkers | our40acres If you look at my website, you can see the trails that are on Our 40 Acres. I do need to update the map though. My nephew got the mowing bug and started making more trails. haha! . NO, I am not selling anything, and NO, I do not charge anything to ride or walk our trails. We can share Our 40 Acres, because Iowa changed it's Laws to protect the Land Owner. Before they changed the law, any idiot who stubbed their toe, I would have been liable for their injury. Luckily, nothing like that happened. You can read the LAW on my website. . . Enjoy the ride!!! . Have a good day
