  1. I've got the diff loose and slid forward, driveshaft is loose. Oil drained, filter out and oil lines pulled back. Does the driveshaft come apart for more room when removing the cover. Is there anything else that comes off (13 bolts) or needs to be loosened before cover removal.?
  2. Hey guys, I'm back. As some of you that followed the 2001 shift problems, I bought a 2000 Foreman to sort of use as needed. I finally got finished with it and one of the grandsons has taken over it so I'm going to try and start on the 2004. I'll need help!
  3. A little update on the 2001. I let the friend I got the 2001 from have his bike back for what I gave him for it. He is happy as can be, he had had the bike for years and was really glad to get it back. He is aware of the work you guys put into trying to fix it and is very appreciative of your effort. Thanks guys for making him happy.
  4. Thanks again, I wasn't aware of that but it is what it is. I thought I had screwed something else up.
  5. This 2001 is the one that just keeps on giving. I got the manual shifter fabed up and installed, shifts good but now of all things it only shows R,N, 1 and 5 on the screen nothing for 2,3 or 4 even though it shifts. I'm sorry the screen for 2,3 and 4 shows - -.Is this normal? Help!!
  6. If I ever get this 2001 put back together and out of my way I'm going to jump on the 2004. I believe I will get the help I will need. Man Retro and Mel are awesome.
  7. Welcome to ATV HONDA. Great bunch of guys. AKATV is great, I sent him 3 a week or so back, he fixed me up. Don't let him being in Alaska think things will be slow , listen to him he knows how to make it happen and fast.
  8. Oh, we are going to do it. The 2001 first then the 2004. Y'all get ready I'm going to need help.
  9. At this time I think I will do as Retro said and remove the gear reduction gears and install a sturdy foot shifter. I will still be in my comfort zone doing that. When I start on the 2004 shifting problems I will be way out of my comfort zone.
  10. Fishfiles, I see what you are saying, something to think about. Retro, thanks I will remove them.
  11. Thanks for the advice. If I stand it up do I need to drain the oil before I stand it up?
  12. Don't feel bad about me spending my time on this project. I was the one that asked for help and the help I got was tremendous. You and Melatv spent way more time on this thing than most would have and I really appreciate it. No failures here, I feel like I may have gained a friend or two, that can't be a failure. I'll start in a few days fabing up a manual shift and put this thing back together and ride on, Thanks again.
  13. I've seen 18, 19 and 20 before I wish that was the problem but I bet it's not, that would be to easy, thanks.
  14. Fishfiles, that picture scares the crap out of me, I don't even know where that stuff is located. Shadetree, I agree I got to dig into this thing, thank god I don't think it's electrical. Thanks to both of you guys for your comment.
  15. Well here is another one but this one is different from the 2001. This one shifts gears from neutral to reverse back to neutral then to 1st no problem, here is where the problem starts, push the button to go to 2nd, 3rd and so on it sounds like it is shifting but push the down button and on the first shift down it's back in neutral. After all the up shifting it never leaves 1st gear, it does the same thing with the manual shifter. It sounds like it is shifting but it never leaves 1st. I've tried shifting while moving and sitting still same results.
  16. OK guys keep studying just let me know what I need to do.
  17. As I've stated more than once these guys did a heck of a job and I probably messed them up. I am not flipping these bikes.
  18. Retro and Melatv, do you guys know of any more test we can run on this thing. Hey it is what it is, I'm so proud of the effort you gave and hung in there. You spent all this time trying to help a person you don't even know, that tells everyone what kind of people you are. It's up to y'all I'll leave it sitting there stripped down till y'all tell me to reassemble it. Just let me know when to start reassembly. Besides I've got another one that has shifting problems we can start on anytime. It's problem is nothing like this one. Thanks Guys!!
  19. The Red 300 is gone, a man bought it for his wife, going to a good home.
  20. Key on. Jumper between b/r to w/b no shift, b/r to w/y no shift, b/r to ground reads 5.01
  21. You guys did a great and through job, I figure the problem is me , I probably did the test wrong and gave you bad info, but what a learning experience. If we mark the project off then I'll change it over to a mechanical shift and one of the grandsons will ride the heck out of it. Retro I'm still smiling and very appreciative of the help I got. I got other projects that I need help on and this is where I'll come to for advice. By the way the coyote hunt was a mess, no wind and the mosquitoes were hungry , the repellant I believe attracted them. The night before my son got 2 coyotes, a wild hog and a skunk.
