One of the features of this fine forum is the Chat area. If you look up there (go ahead, look), you will see something like this image. Click on it! The "3" means that there are three people currently in chat, but if there are no numbers, YOU be the first! At various times of the day, people click in there then click out. In the evenings there are regular and semi-regular chatters that arrive and we chat about all manner of topics, and sometimes ATVs! We would love to see you stop in and say hello, and come back as often as you would like. Of course, it doesn't have to be in the evening, it can be anytime, so click in there and keep it open on the side and see who shows up!

Should look like this. What are the numbers on the carb? Might be from a different machine. The Rubicon TPS points towards the front diff. There are resistance measurements you can ohm out using a multimeter, and those are in the FSM.

Yup that's my plan right now. I only picked the bike up on Sunday and drove it for maybe an hour. I knew it wasn't working right after that so it went into the shop and started coming apart. So, no I haven't been able to monitor the oil level yet. That was my thought as well after I got into the carb. The shape that the carburetor was in could be causing the smoking and that could explain the high compression if it was causing excessive carbon buildup. If the carb is the problem, then some premium gas and a can of Seafoam should help clear it up. I'm hoping to start putting the carb back together tonight. I also just realized the tappet cover that I am waiting for, for the valve cover is the same part number as the gear oil plug on the rear diff of my son's Recon, so once its back together I'll be able to test drive it and should know pretty quickly if the problems are fixed. I'll update once a get a little farther along. I still think its very strange that the compression is tested with the throttle wide open and only expected to be 64psi. I would think that the decompression should be disengaged at wide open throttle. I'm going to look into how that all works when I have a bit of time.

Hey all, new to this forum. I just picked up a 2005 TRX500FE5, and it seems to have a few minor issues. Looking forward to getting some good advice and suggestions from you guys. I have never owned a Honda before and now I own 2 (my son just picked up a TRX250 Recon). I have mostly owned Suzuki and Kawi quads in the past and like those bikes I'm sure these have there own quirks.

I'm with Retro, like mine more or less straight ahead. Makes steering easier. When working on other people's machines, and from the factory, they are toed out a bit. This makes them more stable, but steers a little harder and will usually wear one front tire unevenly. I tie fishing line to the rear ball, run it around the side and the put the pole about 10 feet in front of the wheeler directly out front. If the line is touching the tire at both 3 and 9 oclock on the front tire, it's straight forward. If the line is touching the left tire at 9 oclock and not touching the left tire at 3 oclock, it's toed out. If touching at 3 oclock and not at 9 oclock, it's toed in. Does that make sense?

Nope- its perfectly fine to repair/reprogram speedometers on my end What you choose to do with it, and how, is where it has the potential to be against the law The owner is free to do what he wants with his own vehicle and speedometer-he owns it It is it up to the owner, to notify upon sale, of any mileage correction, change or error on that vehicle/speedometer The same thing is required when putting new speedometer on when you sell it Misrepresenting mileage on any vehicle being sold is against the law When this "hoopla" went on before on the "other" forum, I went straight to the DMV and asked what was, and what was not legal If you look online there are many other speedometer repair services available-and they have the laws/legal posted Feel free to check them out - I just do it cheaper and quicker 😃 $45.00 and 1 day turnaround.......... http://www.bluegauges.com/mileages.htm https://socalspeedometer.com/ https://www.bobsspeedometer.com/1/120/index.asp etc....etc...etc..
