  1. Some more of those bad China parts… be careful as I’ve had a couple customers already purchase these trying to fix their rancher 400 displays One customers worked for a week and then went blank The other one developed big black spots that you couldn’t see through i’m not sure the Rubicon will interchange with the Ranchers I’ve never had a chance to try it out Let me know if they do -AKATV
  2. Do you have spark? If not, have you checked your voltage regulator? the meters probably picking up stray voltage, in Ohms mode it will go crazy Try unplugging Voltage regulator and see if crazy readings go away voltage regulators have diodes that go bad that could possibly back feed voltage to ground Also, bad regulator can make a no spark- no start condition Let us know what you find -AKATV

  7. I do a lot of repairs on these Sounds like it’s not getting the speed signal to the ECU and it’s stuck in limp mode. It’s likely caused by a bad power output circuit to the speed sensor on the circuit card Do you have any water damage to the card at all? -AKATV
  8. Welcome to the forum! Does the meter register speed or stay at zero? There are some components that can go bad on the board that will cause this If you would like to look into a repair, I will send you my direct contact information -AKATV

Welcome to the forum Len ! What jeep said above, - post a picture or two if you can, I might be able to repair it for you depending on what you have going on Honda is not "releasing" or manufacturing these anymore, a lot of online parts places like Partzilla etc...SAY that they are on back-order and keep pushing the date forward month after month until 12-18 months of waiting they finally say it has been discontinued and no longer being manufactured I have had 20-30 Customers go through this process- so heads up -AKATV

Sounds like you have a loose connection or a fractured cold solder joint Can you replicate making it turn on and off? Usually if it’s a loose connection or a fractured solder joint, you can thump one of the handlebar grips pretty good with with a rubber hammer or your fist to simulate riding vibration trail, bumps, etc. and it will turn on and off that way If not, you also might have a corroded or burnt pin down on the lower speedometer harness from water, and or corrosion I will send my contact information to your message box as well if you’d like to look into a repair -AKATV
  20. You definitely have some water damage down on the lower left, you can see the rust and corrosion around the silver capacitors and I see a couple resistors there that look like they might be shorted by mineralization Most likely your board has a CPU or power circuit failure i’ve never seen a partial back light failure like that but seeing as the water damage is on the left side and your left side is not illuminating, I would assume that they are associated If you power off your card with your display removed, can you confirm that only the right LEDs are working? I would check your power inputs first to make sure they are good at the circuit card. You should be having 12volts at the red/black wire and the brown/black wire with the key on using green as ground. Also, one thing I noted, I see a part of the broken backplate still screwed to the circuit card, which is indicative of have been cracked or ripped out of the back plate if that much force has been applied in or around the circuit card, you could’ve fractured solder joints or component mountings Or cracked the card That’s just my two cents from what I see from pictures I will send my contact information to your message box as well -AKATV
  21. Hi krod welcome to the forum I still do repairs on these Post a picture of what you have going on and maybe I can offer some insight If only half of your back light is coming on, you might have an issue with circuit board and/or water damages -AKATV
  22. Thanks Jeep! Yep water damaged boards are pretty much a lost cause, most have sit for such a long time and parts are just falling off everywhere with circuit traces just corroded and shorted/burned completely off the boards etc Member had sent a duplicate message on this, I sent him my contact information and I am currently sourcing a replacement board for him -AKATV
  23. You might get away with trying to repair it but in all honesty, water damaged cards have a high failure rate, even after repair You can bypass the plug and solder the red wire directly to the board and try replacing the capacitor, but I wouldn’t have high hopes I would stick with it as is and keep your eyes open for a possible second hand replacement circuit card, your display is in good shape and you could just swap that over if you found one -AKATV
  24. Definitely some water damages… That red and black wire that you pulled out of the harness plug is the reason it will not hold clock memory. -AKATV
  25. You might want to check your red/black wire, which is your constant power to the speedometer that’s what allows it to hold the clock time
