  1. August 3rd thru 12th. Silverton Lakes RV. We are renting a cabin. It's not 100% we will make it. I had to reserve because the availability of cabins were slim. "Can't run with jeeps" what do you mean?
  2. Well I just made reservations in Silverton for nine days. Me and the wife are riding all the jeep roads and trails there. I've been many times so its no surprise. There's only a few dead end roads that I've never done. I'm going to schedule those just in case one is a hidden gem. The other close towns are Lake city, Ouray and Telluride. If anyone wants to meet us for a day just let me know......I know the area well enough to be a guide.
  3. I thought of doing that mod too but was too lazy. LOL If it happens again I may do something different. In reference to the diameter of the cotter pin mine was fairly stout on the 2014 TRX 420. Now the cotter pins on the tie rod ends, they were tiny.
  4. This cotter pin doesn't lock the nut they way you would expect it to. It just goes thru the end of the shaft to prevent the nut from completely unscrewing. Silly design in my opinion. I almost didn't install it but did anyway.
  5. That's correct, free handle bars! I have a set of Pro Taper S E/seven eighths bars for free. I wanted an upgrade for my 2014 TRX 420 because the stock bars bend fairly easy. I just asked my local Honda dealer to order a set of Pro Tapers or similar high quality bar for my specific wheeler. This is what I got. They are not even close to stock bars. They were acceptable( barely) for me but my wife didn't like them, she said they were too low and had a further reach than the originals. She is correct, they are an inch or two lower and about the same distance further reach than stock. They are 32.5 wide so they are probably a little wider than stock too. Anyhow, if anyone wants them they are yours.........just pay for shipping and $5 for my time. That sounds fair don't cha think? The do have two eighth inch holes drilled in the left side for the locator dowel in the plastic control for the original wheeler.
  6. My 2014 trx 420 has been wrecked by many friends and family members. Wrecked hard only once. It seems usually they just run into something. Since the hard wreck about five years ago it has had some minor slack in the steering. It has worsened slowly thru the years until recently one of my adult daughters ran into a small pine tree with it. Since then the slack has doubled in the play and a minor squeaking noise accompanies it some times. I quit riding it immediately so as not to have something break and causing a steering related crash. I took a quick look and it seemed one or two tie rod ends were loose. They were less than $7 each my cost so I just ordered them because it has many hours on it and wouldn't be a total waste of money at that price. While working on it I noticed the big nut at the bottom of the steering shaft was a little loose. I removed the tie rod bracket to inspect the splines.........everything was fine so i just lubed it and tightened the nut real good. The loose bracket certainly was one of the problems for sure. Now it steers like a new one! Any insight from Ya'll? Oh yeah.........I spent almost the same time centering the handle bar location as I did on the tie rod replacement. LOL
  7. My low hour 2017 trx 420 manual shift wheeler has a few problems that I think are related. None of the lights work and it will not start in gear with the brake lever pulled. There are no other problems at this time. I don't normally ride this wheeler so I don't know when these symptoms appeared but they may be related. I haven't even checked the fuses yet because of the starting in gear problem. I figured I would go straight to some of the smart guys here before poking around. Any wisdom will help. Thanks in advance.
  8. That will leave a streak of uncut grass between the two blades or the blades will hit each other.
  9. I've been riding dirt bikes for decades and never had a problem like this. Just a limit on the counter shaft sprocket before it hits the case.
  10. Same thing happened to my fridge a few years ago.I called a friend who is a professional. If I remember correctly he said to check the heating element for the defroster with an ohm meter. If that was ok then it must be the controller. I think my element checked good and it was the controller.
  11. Well that helps my understanding some. Thanks for putting up with us. We just can't wrap our heads around this! LOL
  12. This is very unusual. Are you saying that a 14/38 will fit? If so I don't think Honda thought that out very well. Very very little tolerance huh?
  13. I'm not experienced in four stroke wheelers tuning but I am an expert with high performance two strokes and small engines. My thoughts on it idling funny after revving tells me it is a needle or main problem. Here's my logic. When the engine is dropping revs after blipping the throttle it still has the mixture of the blip influencing the overall mixture. If it is off this will affect the idle speed until the engine turns over enough times to equalize the idle mixture. The is more pronounced in two strokes
  14. Fuel tank vent......popular with echo. never seen one on another brand.
  15. There are options. Generic pipe thread mufflers are available in many varieties. you could direct the muffler in several other directions. Do a search on different mufflers and see which ones would work best. I'm fairly sure there is something else possible.
  16. If the exhaust port is threaded then use pipes.......if not tap it with 3/4 pipe thread.......should be easy enough
  17. South main Auto tried that trick......didn't work for him. He has an automotive repair shop in upstate New York. I is always fighting rusty/seized/broken bolts because of the salt. Heat seems to work for him. hes has many different Heating devices. One is an electric heating element that wraps around a nut.........it worked on that special occasion.
  18. Wolf Pen Gap in Arkansas and Red river Motorcycle Park in north Texas are a few suggestions that i can recommend. Meeting in Silverton Colorado would be great too. I know that area well enough to be a guide.
  19. Project Farm on you tube did it a while back. The guy is very thorough.
  20. Check the fuel supply hose. some of them are a hose inside of a hose. The inner hose will collapse with no outward signs. Next i would check the ignition coil. With a spark tester hooked up to the plug run it until it dies. If it was sparking when it died it's got to be fuel except for a one in a million bad spark plug.
  21. Over a year!!!!!!! That's too long. LOL......."How long has it been since you had steaming bowl of wolf brand chili?" LOL
  22. We live in the country but there is an adjacent neighborhood. The other day we heard the ice cream truck and piled on two wheelers and chased it down. We couldn't find it so we split up and went down all the streets until we found it. Me and my wife on one and one daughter, her husband and my grandson on the other. We looked like crack heads needing a fix real bad racing up and down the streets. Ha Ha.
