Got a little sidetracked with our new baby girl and this sweet old gal. Needed piston and rings and I put a new wrist pin bearing in as well. Cylinder had some transfer that I sanded out. Stihl O44 red lever. 10mm pin. This was my holy grail saw that just fell into my lap. Here’s how I got it. Removed the covers. Cylinder needs some cleaning. here’s the cylinder after some sanding. It’s not perfect but it’s super smooth all the way around. I couldn’t feel anything with my fingers. Cylinder back on. Ready to cut some wood. I picked up a 20” light bar for this as it’s probably going to be my limbing/play saw. I’ll have to get a video whenever it get back into the woods to make wood this fall.

This has to be one of if not the dirtiest saws i've ever seen. But the oil and filth really preserved all the paint on the exterior of the case. Whatever conglomeration of mix fuel that sat in the bottom of the case, not so much. It pitted the bottom end pretty bad but i'll just grind that out. Shouldn't hurt it any. The little bit I've got through the parts washer, have come out really nice.

The saw I just rebuilt brought over $600 and looked similar to this inside. And they are really nice saws to run.

Here’s the guts to that saw. She’s a dirty girl. Bottom end was a little crispy but crank still good!!! also. This is what happens when the muffler bolts are stripped. Sacrificed the muffler but didn’t hurt the cylinder at all. Cylinder looks brand new as it should. There was no shortage of lube anywhere on this saw.

Yup. I got two of them from the same owner. He used the same oil in both. Price was right though.

I didn't see this thread until now... But I got you all beat for Fathers day. At 447 am on Sunday, my wife gave birth to a baby girl. Everyone is home, healthy and doing great. She just broke her birth weight today. Happy belated as well to all the other Fathers out there.

And here's another cool saw i picked up a few weeks ago as well. Homelite Super XL 925. It has an automatic oiler and a thumb pump manual override. 82cc of thunderous torque. I had to source a bar and chain for it. Ended up with a 30" homelite bar. Fairly uncommon length but it came with a rocked out chain. So I took some time to square tooth hand file the chain. Took a few days of here and there hand filing. It sure cuts fast when you lean on the saw but doesn't self feed very well. I need to knock the rakers down a little more. I'll have to get you all a video of this saw in action. The sound and demeanor of this thing puts it in a whole other class imo. This saw was burned up with the rings seized when I bought it. I was able to save the original piston and cylinder. I had to get some NOS rings for it though but they were pretty cheap. Lots of 600 grit polishing to bring it back to life.

Here's a cool saw i picked up a couple weeks Jonsereds 50. Before they were bought by electrolux and changed to jonsered (no "S") sadly i haven't touched it since i brought it home.

I’m jokin around. I was watching happy Gilmore at the time I wrote that. I love the mudlites. Thought about those for when I might do more road riding in the area.

You'll have to do a review of those tires after a while. I was tempted to get them but shadey-mcgavin swayed me into getting mudlites. Nice looking machine.

I agree Ted. With the cast iron stuff, not sure about the flatulence confession but i believe we've all been there. I stay away from burger king for that reason. But to add to the non stick that sticks... over the weekend, i finally broke down and threw away all my shitty non-stick pans. I was lazy and didn't want to clean out the bacon grease yet from breakfast so i grabbed oen of the non-sticks to make a grilled cheese for one of my boys. Even loaded with butter the thing was a burning on the sides and needed to soak and scrubbed in the sink. I said to the wife, that it's, do you care if i throw all this crap away and only use cast other than sauce pans? So they went to the dump saturday morning. They were about 2 year old pans, expensive ones. And if you dared cook sausage gravy in one, you committed your entire afternoon to soaking, scrubbing, resoaking, praying, resoaking, pressure washing.... you get the idea. I made sausage gravy in my wagner #8 sunday monring, Man that was good on fresh biscuits. To clean, i rinsed in the sink, quick wipe with the stainless steel scrub pad, rinse and wipe dry and it's as good as new. It takes me 1/4 the time to clean a cast iron pan as it did the non-stickers. And food just tastes better. I was just boasting about some of my pans again Sunday night. I gave them a quick rinse and wipe, then thin layer of bacon grease everywhere, and wouldn't you believe it, i could see my reflection in the bottom of the pan. I just about have another batch of pans ready for the smoker to be seasoned. These will be for sale though to cope the price of the better pans hiding under my stove right now.

I do not have any good recommendations unfortunately, but your post had me thinking about how long it might be before dash cams are just a standard feature in cars? I'm surprised the government hasn't mandated that just like the requirement to have a back up camera on all vehicles. Then they could be watching every vehicle on the road.

You could always put a front hitch on, flip flop your tires side to side, and go up the hill in reverse. 🙂 Kidding aside, if it were me, I'd just take smaller loads like you've been doing. OR!?! you could modify your trailer? get a rubber wheel mounted to some type of jack stand that swivels? of course then you'll loose your hitch weight and probably spin even worse. I'd say just keep on keepin' on. Looking back at your other pictures... What's that contraption mounted on wheels to the back of your quad? A log skidder with a winch? It kind of looks like that's creating a moment arm to your rear axle. Do you think that's actually taking the weight of the trailer tongue and picking up the back of the four wheeler? I'd be interested in seeing a better picture looking at that setup. Not only for your weight distribution ideas but for my own log skidder fabrication. Good day.

Skf main bearings oem seals and oring new recoil and brake handle hyway 372xp 50mm top end. new hyway jungle muffler. many other new parts. $650 power head only Negitives: chip flap has caught a chain or four and is chewed up in the clutch cover and rear handle/tank has some scratching and wear. See pictures. $750 with tsu light 24” bar and stihl RS full chisel chain.

I have had charter spectrum for the last 5 years or so for internet only. It started at 45 a month for 100mb then went to 55 and now after all the promos have ended, it's monthy is 69.00. The nice thing though is we only have sling tv which is an internet streaming tv service for 30 a month. So out total monthly bill for tv and internet is $100. which has always been my goal to stay under for the combination. I've had one 4 hour outage in the last 3 years with charter spectrum. I can't complain about that.

The way they look, I might need to learn how to dye plastic. I see a lot of guys take the orange stihl plastic and dye it black. Might have to find a red dye.
