  1. Marketing. It has an air induction to the air filter from the flywheel. Forced air from the flywheel is feed to the intake. Not really a turbo but similar outcome...ish.
  2. I went to my local chainsaw hoarder today for funnsies since I received a bonus from work and wanted to treat myself. Found a 1997 jonsered 2095 turbo. 93? Cc. Tank of a big saw. Picked that up and a case of snap on 1/2” drive impact sockets mm. Paid $200. Think I did pretty good. The saw runs but needs a couple parts. I think I got a good deal.
  3. The MS290 is actually a pretty decent saw. A little heavy for the power it has but it cut over 15 cord of firewood for me over the last 3 years and who knows how many since my grandpa bought it new in 2003. This is my 290 and my son and fourwheeler back when we had snow in Feb. This saw will be passed down to my kids or grandkids someday. This would be a much better saw than the 031AV (especially the 031 i can't get to run.)
  4. I paid $100 the saw not knowing it had so many new parts on it. The parts alone are worth $60-80. If I can get this saw looking good and running good, I'd list it for sale for $300 in my area.
  5. I have a parts washer all lined up to pick up from my cousin's. It was my great uncles and he just gave it to them and it's basically in their way in their shop. I think I might go get that this weekend because this saw would benefit from that greatly.
  6. I'm not sure what's wrong with this saw yet. I'm going to go through everything, clean the carb, break out loose carbon in the exhaust, clean everything to prevent heat soak and then try my luck starting it. It has good compression so i'm not too worried. The no fire is still that 031 AV. I have spark via the spark tester and can see some on the plug. It's there, not a lightning bolt, but there. I have a wet plug when pulling it over a bunch too. compression is good. So i'm not sure why it won't even fire as i have the 3 basics. Something must be grounding or week ignition coil. checked flywheel for timing, checked coil. On my parts list is a spark plug and maybe an ignition module if i can find one. I might have to convert it to the 031 points system as I heard those do indeed throw lightning bolts when set up correctly.... but then i'd need a different crank. so i'm trying to avoid that. the 031 is on the shelf for now because I'm sick of looking at it. She needed a time-out for being naughty.
  7. Well I got another saw yesterday... and actually sold my Homelite super xl. This time up is an stihl ms290. $100. Dirty as all gitup. Looks like it sloshed around in a manure spreader without the stink. Story is it ran out of gas and never got restarted. From a farmer who bought it new. Went and bought a new saw when it would not start. Well after digging into it it has a new bar, chain, clutch drum/sprocket, needle bearing, fuel impulse and intake boot, and air filter. Guts look clean as a whistle. I need to keep digging to see if there’s an oil leak somewhere or if it’s just that poorly taken care of. Looks like the oil cap was leaking for sure. Stay tuned fellow chip chuckers.

    I haven't seen a skeeter in 6months I bet.
  9. Shoot, i cut the final cost off that clip, it was $208 before tax. So like %24 off or something. I would recommend them.https://www.hondaeasttoledo.com/
  10. I bought all my parts from Honda East. (honda east toledo) out of Ohio? i believe. They were quick shipping and very good to work with. Also, saying you found their name online in forums, they'll give you %10-15 off. I would order an engine rebuild "kit A" and "kit B". also, replace all the seals. Front and rear output shafts, footshift, reverse shaft, valve seals. Here's a list of things i bought. You might have to finetune some of the parts.

The weather in WI was excellent today. When I left in the morning it was -18. By the time I headed home at 230 it was up to 27 degrees of sun shining goodness. Hardly any wind too. Snow coming tomorrow then maybe 40s next week. Won’t be long now for spring.
  13. Had a long day cutting wood with a friend of mine. He moved later in the fall and didn’t have a big wood supply so we fixed that today. I put 5 tanks through the 462. Bucking logs from 8am to 2pm. Ufffda my shoulders are sore. But my back isn’t near what it typically is. We’ll attribute that to the 28” bar. here’s a fun felling video for you to enjoy.

I am ready!!! but we have 20" of ice on most inland lakes right now and the flowages have 15-20". Usually around april 10th - 30th is when i'm targeting the crappies. Until then, I'll be fishing large basins through the ice.

Good thing you can turn the thermostat up from your phone! -22 when I drove to work this morning. Which wasn't bad by itself by 15mph winds made if feel like -40. I wasn't even aware of the temps sunday morning. I was outside at 8am sweeping the chimney. apparently it was -10 with 15 mph winds. I thought it felt kind of chilly out there... Regardless the fire felt good once everything was cleaned. Warm up coming this week. looks to be around 30 deg. F. It'll be shorts weather once again in WI. Can't wait for some ice fishing in march in shorts and a hooded sweatshirt.
  17. Had a fox run through the front yard this morning. Must have been looking for rabbits and mice in the wood pile.

That’s why it’s called big sky county. Nice picture.
  19. I am sure there's a fuel programmer out there somewhere that would be adequate for adjusting the FI system. ! I custom made a turbo kit for my 2010 Yamaha Apex snowmobile and all it took was a $200 programer to pour the fuel to her. Worked good. The programmer i had measured boost pressure too and adjusted fuel based on that as well as standard set points. The problem with these types of programmers though is knowing your setpoints. I had other people that had done this already to bounce numbers off from for mine. You might not be so lucking being such a new model. But what do I know now? Those programmers probably sense engine performance and adjust automatically.?

It was above freezing this morning!!!!! 1 deg F. felt like shorts weather to me...
  21. Yeah that's probably why I haven't ordered one yet. Plus I bring way more tools than that would hold along with keeping extra chains in my tool box.

That's the unit of measurement to determine how close the vikings are to winning a superbowl.
  23. I saw one of these containers on a youtube video last night. Where have these been all my life? i literally haul a 2 gal fuel can, gallon of bar oil and a tool box with me every time i cut wood. This would turn three things into one... Great idea, i wish it was about 35-40$ though instead of $65. https://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-Combi-Oil-Fuel-42-01/dp/B00T031DAE/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=oil+and+fuel+can&qid=1612888313&rnid=2941120011&s=automotive&sr=1-1

Weather update from WI. It was -22F on my way to work this morning. Multiple tractor/trailers along the roadside gelled up. It's the week of the winter the wood stove has been supplemented by the furnace for a lot of the night. I woke up a couple times to the furnace running. Wilson, I said it before, you jinxed us by saying what a mild winter we've been having. The weather forecast doesn't call for plus 20 degrees for me for at least another week.

Well the ice fishing adventure with the foreman was..... cold. Took 5 minutes of cranking to get the Fourwheeler to fire. Started and ran good once running. But the fwd actuator wouldn’t engage so I didn’t have it. Pulled the shack about 30 yards onto the ice and she dug down to ice and wouldn’t pull no more. Needed chains I suppose without fwd. so I just pulled the shack and put the foreman back on the trailer. It was -26 when doing that this morning. then when I left I checked the fwd after sitting in the sun for 5 hours and son of a gun engaged. It was up to -4 then. Ohh well I guess I needed the exercise. No fish bounty either. Two 12” perch. still cold too. Down to -10 right now.
