Stay safe wheeler. I’m going fishing in the morning -15 f right now. I just hooked the trailer up and taking the foreman on it’s first cold weather adventure. Let’s see what’s she’s made out of. I’ll take pictures tomorrow.
  2. I used to use opti2. Full synthetic that mixed out at about 70:1. The company actually said to mix at 100:1 but I always used the 2.5 gallon pouch with 2 gallons of gas for 70:1. I haven’t had a problem in 7 plus years using it in weed eaters, saws, ice augers, tillers. Everything 2 stoke. I only recently switched to stihl ultra mix because I got an extended warranty buying a 6 pack. I’m sure I won’t have any issues with this either.
  3. Nothing is wrong with o-rileys, I go there when I have to but prefer to pay the same price to locally owned parts stores.

Forcast calls for 5 more inches on thursday then the cold will be here for a week. highs in the teens lows in the neg teens. Wilson you you may have been correct, we may have not seen the worst of winter yet!

Gonna be a fun morning for my boys. Not a lot of snow but enough.
  8. I bought it. It’s quite impressive. It’s actually lighter than my 290. So it feels quite nimble to me even with the 28” bar. I like the reach. I’ll eventually get one of those light to handle Homelites suped up for limbing if this is too cumbersome. Or use my 20” bar on this.
  9. Big ash ash.... white ash to be specific.
  10. Fiskars x27 and ms462 got some attention this morning. One tank of fuel to cut a cord of wood. Good times had by all.... by all I mean me.
  11. Yes it’s a pro series. 28” light bar. Man it’s almost fun cutting wood.
  12. Here’s a fun video in some of the ash I cut up today. First tank of fuel in the new 462. It was almost empty of fuel on this cut. You can hear it ask for more after the vertical cut. Enjoy.
  13. First 031 back together. Of course no spark. Might be a coil, plug, wires? Idk. Tackle it tomorrow, or this morning?
  14. This also happened to come home with me today. Lots of sold saws and saving for this bad boy. Hopefully she last 20 years.
  15. Another score today. $60. Total. Wilson you can have you pick on 031s lol.
  16. I worked on it last night for a while. This saw has a lot of potential so I'm being pretty meticulous with cleaning. It is evident that 97% of people that use chainsaws never clean them. I spent an hour and half just cleaning dust and pitch out of the flywheel cover. Every hole was reduced in size by about %25 from never being cleaned. That's quite a bit of restriction when you think about the cooling the flywheel needs to do. I forgot to take pictures but maybe this afternoon if i get some time in the garage. But the carb is rebuilt, fuel & impulse lines ready. starter respooled, Its just a matter of cleaning the saw, get the carbon out of the exhaust and get it back together.
  17. Thank you, almost extactly what The problem was. The metering valve was just a tad too high but the main issue was the vent in the gas cap was clogged with the imfamous black tar from these tanks. It was pushing fuel nonstop. I didn't crack the tank cap when I shut it off and it spewed fuel while sitting. Pretty easy tip it gave me there. It runs exceptionally well now. I wouldn't expect to get more than $125 for it. Which would be great in my opinion because I have about $65 into the entire saw. But I think I'll put it on the shelf. Once I build a display shelf that is. Wilson's 031AV is next to get tuned and running good.
  18. Here's some finished pictures of my Super XL Homie (other than dogs which I'm hoping to find friday). It's pretty sweet looking in my opinion. I'm waffling over adding it to the collection or trying to sell it for a decent price to put towards the new saw.
  19. I was out filling the wood trailer tonight after refilling the box inside. Looks like I’m over half way through my prepared wood. Bring on the cold, I’m into some dry red oak.
  20. Since this has turned into an oil thread.... I use lucas wet clutch motorcycle/atv oil. You know why? Because its the only thing the local parts store carries and try not to give my money to wal-mart or oreilys. But that's a different topic just as heated as oil threads. 😛 good day sir
  21. Yeah I’m 6’3” and need a long handle. It helps a lot.
  22. Yup I just got inside from testing it out. Pretty sweet swinging axe. Busted up like a dozen rounds and made a pile of wood in about 10 minutes. I could use my maul but my elbows were starting to hurt from swinging the 8.5 lb maul. If I picked up a piece of wood with either arm extends my elbows burned. I think it’s like tennis elbow to the extreme. But my elbows don’t hurt at all right now. mine thing I’m skeptical of is the handle. I don’t like the hook end of the handle. I’m gonna need some hockey tape to wrap that up to more of my liking.
  23. Birthday gift from the wife. Looks like I'll be givin' er a work out one of these days...
  24. I got my super xl running today. God what a sweet saw. Love these vintage saws for messing around with. enjoy the video!
  25. Started on my 031av today. No spark and no fuel. So she got tore down. Found the lack of spark. Wire broke off from the coil. Fuel will be fixed up with new fuel lines and a carb kit I picked up today.
