  1. That reminds me of the therapy that I'd do for a knee surgery. Engages the muscles around the knee very nicely.
  2. It was just a light-hearted response. Take it as such. I will continue to interject things for my amusement, though not on your posts. I appreciate the heads up on how you like to interact.

    TSA

    But what about their FEELINGS?

Thanks for that, I couldn't find anything. That's terrible. They still aren't bypassing security, but the fact they are allowed to ever go through security is a sad thing.

I'd check on that information. Many forms of ID are allowed as an alternate to passports, etc. but none let you bypass security. Do you have a link to his resources?

    Weather

Went camping this weekend. It got down to 10 degrees on Friday night. I know that's a warm Spring day for many of you right now but we don't get much colder at this time of the year in SE Ohio.
  7. And the bad part is that most of them feel they are in the right.
  8. It certainly is the few that ruin it. When near a creek or other water source, I take campsite baths, etc. I go out for a week at a time into Canada so I've practiced keeping myself reasonably clean.
  9. With what you told me, I'm a bit of a "right versus wrong" kindof guy. There is a point where I'd take that guys keys. He'd get them back but I'd make him go through quite a bit of stress before he got them. It would be entertainment for me. I'm a jerk like that.
  10. The reason why they stopped letting people take atv's etc. there is because of how tore up the trails would get. No personal regard for the damage they were doing. So the ruined it for everyone. I've been going to this area for years and studied topo maps to find old roads and would explore them. All by backpack. When I got my atv last year, I knew a few of them would support riding them. I load my stuff up and go, eventually ending up at a large creek that feeds a river about a mile away. There are other places to go but that's my go-to. Other people also go there as I can see signs of them, but since it's not an obvious path, it's low use. I'm going there in Jan to spend a few days. My brother lives in the town so I have his son (my nephew) meet me as my brother's business and take us to the get-in point around 6:30 am. He then comes back around 10 am on Sunday and we load up and leave. We make no fuss and am very friendly to my surroundings. This area is awesome country. I practice man-tracking (myself, usually), map reading, fishing methods, etc. Very relaxing. I take a little Bluetooth speaker and sometimes listen to music. Other times I stare at the fire or the creek, contemplating life.
  11. The places I go I used to backpack in, walking the old roads. Since I have knees that don't like the miles, I now ride. I don't go there and ride around for a few hours enjoying the sights and the ride itself, but rather I use the atv for transport. When I get to where I'm going I park it. As far as being allowed, well that's another story.
  12. I travel to ride. Either rolling farm land during hunting season, or old logging trails and forestry access roads about 4 hrs away.
  13. Anymore videos of you playing? I just bought a new kit and am enjoying playing it.
  14. There you go. AKATV has fixed this issue for several members.
  15. This an upbeat and cheery thread! No? Agreed.
  16. So much death to follow death, and years of anguish for your cousin. It's too bad she couldn't resolve what she found and went through.
  17. Terrible watching your sister's baby choke. It would be a helpless feeling. I first became aware of Peabody's coal in John Prine's song called "Paradise", which included Peabody's trains, Muhlenberg County, etc. When I was a child my family would travel Down to Western Kentucky where my parents were born And there's a backwards old town that's often remembered So many times that my memories are worn. And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away Well, sometimes we'd travel right down the Green River To the abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill Where the air smelled like snakes and we'd shoot with our pistols But empty pop bottles was all we would kill. And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away Then the coal company came with the world's largest shovel And they tortured the timber and stripped all the land Well, they dug for their coal till the land was forsaken Then they wrote it all down as the progress of man. And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away When I die let my ashes float down the Green River Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin' Just five miles away from wherever I am. And daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenberg County Down by the Green River where Paradise lay Well, I'm sorry my son, but you're too late in asking Mister Peabody's coal train has hauled it away
  18. The ONLY thing that can possibly help, but not prepare, is going through it over and over. You talk yourself into be desensitized to it the best you can. I've seen death in the military, but those were people actively engaged in what we were doing, not children or those not involved. In reality, I COULDN'T handle it, but I got through it because someone had to crawl under that trailer. When it was confirmed that it was her, I texted my director and I left. I pulled over (eventually) when I had cell service and called my wife and sat there and cried for a bit.
  19. It was thought that the trailer was blown through the house and that's why she was under it. I can only hope that the initial impact relieved her from any following pain.
  20. Thanks. I make myself do these things as I feel the pain of my effort (schedule, sleep, body hurting) is less than what they and other disasters go through.
  21. I knew it was 200+ in length, I'm sure they will get more detailed on that number as time goes on. Two of the lives lost were a man and his daughter. The man was found quickly but the reason WE were at this location was to find the daughter. I won't spell out the whole process but in the end the K9 I accompany hit on a location and eventually, through man power and a backhoe, uncovered down to a utility trailer that had blown through the house. The dog hit again so I crawled under the trailer and near the back I noticed part of a small shirt sleeve in the color she was wearing visible through a bunch of debris. I backed out and informed the DNR that was onsite and I and my K9 crew walked up the hill. They distracted the mom (who was onsite) and the backhoe hooked up to the trailer and lifted the front end. The DNR person examined what I had found and confirmed it was the girl, deceased. Our director made eye contact with me and nodded to indicate it was her. At that time, I said goodbye to the K9 crew, sent the director a text, and left to come home to be with my family. I was destroyed for a while and still now I'm really down about it. I'll recover just fine, but it was tough. If the DNR person had not been there, it would have been me or another person in our group that would have confirmed it was her. I would not have hesitated but I'm glad I didn't have to do this one.
  22. I don't think this lake is known for Lake Trout, but when I place my call to the outfitter I'll have more information. I'll ask him the same things I'm asking here to get his input.
  23. As many in our area know, there was a tornado that the went through several states, with parts of Western KY being hit hardest. Late Friday evening myself and others from my organization went down to help. On Saturday I was part of the K9 team (a "not good" result was found) and on Sunday I went with the chainsaw crew to help make roads passable. While there I took some photos. These photos don't even come close to showing the devastation that happened to the area. All photos were from the area where we were searching for a missing female child, which was found (deceased). Below is the path of the tornado, followed by my photos. What looks like piles of "whatever" were once houses. A photo looking across a bit of water on a hill that looks kindof clear is an area that was just picked clean by the winds and thrown elsewhere. Several vehicles blown out of garages and rolled down hills. Boats turned over in the water.
