  1. I got far enough into hooking my electrical up for this '88 I am restoring. got the fuel gauge wired up, battery wired up, brand spanking new oem sending unit ( very rare to locate, and high dollar ! ), I turn the key on, got no led dashes on meter, hmmm. checked all my fuses, all good..hmmm. checked all my connections, all clean and tight, hmmm. then I thought, ok, tank is empty, I grabed my pick that has a hook on it, reached down inside the tank, grabbed the wire on the sending unit, turned key, lifted sending unit up, watched the fuel gauge, sure enough, the red dashes slowly went across, filled up the bars on meter. sooooo, bottom line : chances are, your sending unit is bad. BUT !!!!. it is fixable depending on how bad its corroded over ??. you will need to pull the tank in order to get the sending unit out of the tank. once the tank is out, remove the sending unit, you will notice on one side of the metal arm, it pivots ?, as it does this, it has very fine tin fingers that drag across the circuit board, this is what sends the signals to the fuel gauge. the part that drags, over time, works loose from the plastic housing, and not enough downward pressure to keep the tin fingers against the circuit board. the rod is held on with a small round clip, like a pressure clip, if you can tighten it down on the circuit board ?, this may fix your problem :-).
  2. haha..veryyyyyyy funny !..lol. Wilson is correct, speedo cable.
  3. second pic, is it me, or is the cam sprocket not lined up with the top index arrow to punch mark on cam ?.
  4. dim gauge tells me your battery is weak. fuel gauge reading empty either means the tank is empty ?, or the sending unit is bad.
  5. got my hook installed on the paint front bumper, got winch all done, cables all hooked up, mini rocker switch working, sub lights working, tail lights working, new battery installed, bunch of little stuff, seat is just sitting on the atv. got alittle paint on the front rack, its hanging an drying.speedo cable connected an ran to front, i'm beat..just came inside, done for the day.

  8. I got to run for a bit, but is the neutral light lit up on the dash ?. if you watch the dashes, count them, they are trouble codes !. you may be able to get the service manual for free from our site here ?, if ya get the code, look it up in the trouble code section, that will narrow it down for you !
  9. welcome deerhunter, I see you made it over ?..glad to have ya here !.

  11. waiting on my dealer ship to open, then head down there, pick up a new battery for her. then I will get back here, and start hooking up some wires, cables, try to get the back end all installed. not sure if anyone noticed in the pics ^^^ ? , but I installed the mini rocker switch on the left handle bars, got the hot wire tapped into the pink wire from ignition switch. this atv did have the old style turn switch to operate the winch, but I wanted to clean it up some, bought a mini rocker switch, and new version contactor switch, no more old round style solenoid style switch !. now all the small work is making this restoration go slow..i hate doing this part of my builds !..lol. I need to fab up a hook some how on the front bumper for a place to attach the winch hook, might get that done today ?.
  12. no clue ??. all I know is..its coming together , slow ?..but together !..lol.

  16. when you pull the starter to replace the brushes ?, BEFORE YOU REMOVE ANY BOLTS TO TAKE IT APART !!!!!, scribe lines across the ends to the middle section, makes it so much easier to go back together.
  17. if and when he gets it up here ?, i'll go through it really good, get it all cleaned out, back together, get it shipped back down to him. I can't do a test run ?, but it will run, and run good on my end..lol.

  24. but my silver don't make my motors over heat ?..lol. and its a lot thinner than powder coating is. what ever he wants. makes me no diff, i'll still rip it apart, and clean it all out, build it back together :-).
  25. bowl has nothing to do with what your checking ?, bowl just fills up with fuel, once its full ?, the float SHOULD stop fuel from flowing past the float needle !. with the bowl off ?, you got your eyes right on the float and float needle to see if fuel is leaking past the seat once float is all the way up ?. I do it all the time this way !. saves me from having to put the bowl on, take it off, back on..back off..when I can watch all this while the bowl is not on the carb. just don't do it in a enclosed area ?, or your run the risk of making yer wife mad from fumes ?, or blowing yourself up ?!..lol.
