  1. update: stopped by my local honda dealership, picked up 4 new upper and lower ball joints, and 4 tie rod ends, there went another 130 bucks..lol.
  2. it could also be the oil rattling too ?..hmmm...rofl.
  3. update: she starts great, runs great, stops great. no metal to metal coming out of the engine now. although !!..yeah yeah..you just knew something was gonna be off huh ?..lol. i've got some '' creaking '' coming from the front suspension, pretty sure its the shock bushings ?, and i've got a worn tie rod end ?, sooo..i'll see if i can solve the shock bushings first with some grease. see about getting 4 new tie rod ends. i also need to re-check the upper and lower ball joints ?, they seemed ok awhile back ?, but i'll re-check them. main thing right now is the shock bushings, and tie rod ends. got too much '' slop '' in the steering, i'll fix that. other than all this ?, engine sounds great, shifts great, stops great.
  4. update: got the engine, and most of the body parts back on/in this project, had to come get some coffee, i'll get back out to the shop here soon, put the engine oil back in, give her a test fire ( like i'm worried it wont run ?..lol ). will update with some finish pic's once i give it a test ride/run..and make sure everything is right ?..it dang well better be ?..or i'm setting this MF on fire !..( i only wish ! )..lol.
  5. very nice job !, coming from someone who does this on a regular basis ?, i think you did an outstanding job. if you plan on keeping this ?, if i were you ( and i know i am not ) i would be looking for a better rear axle, and brake drum if that drum is bad ?. keep the pic's coming, we love old gal's breathing life again !.
  6. update: got the bearings in today, got the lower engine together, its resting on my jack stand lift. did not put the top end on the engine, i'm wore out, been going at stuff sense 7 am this morning, cleaned my carport off to make room for work on my tractor, it has a leak, and i found out where its coming from, of all places, the hydro oil pump, dealership wants 1k for the pump !. sigh. i could spend 400 bucks on a china pump ?, but this is NOT a part i want to gamble on, for one, it takes a couple hours just to get it off ?, and two, this is the heart of the hydro oil system..i do not want to gamble on this part !. drove that to the back yard, started in on the gal's trx450fm, been going at it for about 5-6 hrs, had to call it quits, my leg is killing me, needed to get off it. will get/try to stab the engine in the frame tuesday..i'm just too tired to go any longer. i've got some parts coming in for my camper, gonna do a axle flip, raise it, put some larger tires on it later, parts for this are showing to be here tuesday. hopefully i can get this engine back in the frame before these parts show up ?. Oh..i forgot to snap some pics of the new bearings ?..oh well..like i said...i;ve been going full steam today sense i got up at 6 am, had to run truck to dealership, drop that off, got back here..started in on the carport cleaning, then finding the tractor hydro oil leak, then putting the lower 450fm back together..i'm beat.
  7. i just happen to know where some plastics are for your trx400fw, but i will not ship, you would need to pick them up., to be honest, i know where a trx400fw frame is, all of it is there cept the wire harness and engine.
  8. both the sensor and thermostat are on the cylinder head, thermo is kinda big and round, sensor is small, screwed into the head near the spark plug.
  9. always post up the FULL MAKE/YEAR/MODEL. simply saying its a foreman does not tell us anything. if this is a trx500fm ?, the water temp sensor is screwed into the cylinder head.
  10. front drive shafts are not the same from the 450's from '98 to '02-'04, different lengths because of the early versions '98-'01 being full time 4wd, and the later years '02-'04 being electronic diff's.
  11. no, the 400 motor will not fit in a trx300fw frame. two different styles of engines. you need to work on your quoting ?, you keep adding your first video to every post ?..lol.
  12. i'm not building any v-8..you shoulda stayed awake in chat lastnight !.
  13. when honda came out with the cb750, it all went down hill for all other motorcycles. then in the early '80's, honda came out with the v65 magna, it was the worlds first production motorcycle to hit the record book for being the fastest. i had a v65 magna, and let me tell ya..that was one heck of a bike, i named it '' the beast ''..lol. needless to say, i got rid of it fast..i was not ready to die just yet.
  14. how about, '' the border crisis is only short one box of ammo '' ?..lol.
  15. welcome to the forums.
  16. yes..tires are wrong, the tread pattern should face forward. look on the face of the tire, there is an arrow facing the way they rotate :-).
  17. i hate to burst yer bubble ^^^^, but the tires are mounted on the rims backwards ?, or you mounted them on the wrong sides ?..lol. the tread pattern looks backwards ?.
  18. dang it..i had a book typed out, and the web site ate it ?... you better start with a good harness..that one is trash. a pic of a before and after trx400fw i did a few yrs ago. wanna do it right ?..you better spend the money..it wont be cheap !..lol.
  19. welcome to the forums.
  20. better stay out of the tire threads then ?!..lol.
  21. i'm kinda confused here, if you are just trying to see if the engine will run ?, then why worry about the wire harness ?, its best to fix it with a good harness, then see if it will run ?. if all you are wanting to do in the long run is keep the engine as a spare for the good running bike ?, chances are, you will end up replacing parts on the spare engine anyway !!. in other words, you are wasting your time on that messed up harness. now..if you are wanting to build another running atv out of this project ?..THEN STOP WASTING TIME ON THAT CRAPPY WIRE HARNESS..AND GET A GOOD HARNESS..AND FIX IT RIGHT. ditch the china knock-off c.d.i., ditch the china knock-off spark plug coil..AND ANY OTHER CHINA JUNK YOU ARE BUYING ??..HONDA'S DO NOT LIKE CHINA JUNK !!!. when you are tired up wasting time with it ?, drop it off at my house, leave some cash here..give me a few weeks with it, i'll have it running in no time !.but it won't be with china parts ( that you buy ! )..it will be with the correct parts...and it will run when i am done with it. until then ?, get a good harness, get the correct parts, and fix it the right way. you are just wasting time and money the way you are doing it right now. i am not trying to be hard on you ?..but omg..that harness beg's for shorts everywhere !!.
  22. word of caution with partzilla about parts being in stock !!. if you do not sign in ?, they list the parts in stock, but once you sign in ?, then they show the parts NOT in stock ?!!.
  23. update: got a couple bearings in yesterday ( small order ),,i got them all oiled up, pressed into the case halves. gotta wait until i get the rest of the bearings before i can bottom up the bottom end. i'll snap some pics when i get all the new bearings installed :-).
  24. i wonder how long it's been sitting there ?..rofl.
  25. i'm in north little rock, good to have some one close by !. i've had my share of a few motorcycle rebuilds, what kinda motorcycle are you working on ?, anything i could do help you out ?, let me know !. ditch partzilla, go to rocky mountain atv, the prices are alot cheaper than partzilla, and they have cheaper shipping !, partzilla wants you to order 149 bucks worth of parts to get free shipping, where is rocky mountain atv only makes you buy 75 bucks worth of parts to get free shipping. my '' black beast '' is a 1985 vf700c magna,v4..love it !.
