wow...was wondering how everyone was this morning...looks like it was a long night...sorry for the folks who have lost so much!
  4. yesterday I hopped on my Honda, put it in netrual and coasted down the driveway...wheeeeee!! fun. When I can afford the gas, I'll start it and drive it back up the hill (Grin)
  5. couple years back... in more "normal" times... we had a shutdown of the Colonial pipeline...I watch for those and make sure I'm stocked up before the average sheeple realize there's bags on the pump handles...then the lines start, then folks cut each other off, and then the fights...the last of these events we had 3 reported gun incidents..with one actually firing shots..and this is in a civilized smaller city where we know that in a couple days, normalcy will return. I'm expecting this longer term price pain at the pumps, and then at the grocery store, to ramp up the ugly. we ain't Chico by a long shot, but this boy doesn't go to the pump, or shopping after dark and without my sidearm.
  6. see...those guys are crazier than me
  7. a pedal bike is probably the one rig that I would consider for E-power these days...not an reasonable size solar rig to recharge, etc. just still so dang expensive and I really have no need for one..if I was in the city...sure..but out here in the sticks?...naw. Love my ol Trail 90 for scooting around the property, taking rides on country roads, and touring small tourist towns on our vacation runs. who knows what we're gonna need after the current crop of politicians gets done "not letting a good disaster go to waste" . might be the ol 100mpg rigs are what we have to use a bit more.
  8. probably run like a scalded dog...if IF you could get it to start ...LOL.
  9. oh...so you do dress up to mow the lawn (LOL)
  10. Love the pic of your tractor...that's how real men roll.. around the big city up the road, the boys wouldn't be caught dead on anything less than a shiney new top model rider..and of course are out there with their $60 cargo shorts and ArmourAll polo shirts etc. my old Husqvarna has a ripped up seat that makes yours look like new. but we get the jobs done (grin)...nice work on the landscape by the way.

yep..back to back rain patterns...my back woods where the creek runs, was once again under water..not historic flooding, but my old 300 was axle deep to where my boot tops were wet as I rode through..other areas, water still moving swiftly and deeper, I didn't even bother to try.. I'm not snorkeled and really no point other than to get really wet (grin).

ton of production in the video.. best part...the first time they show him in his fur coat at the gun counter and he strikes the rapper pose on the "yeah" moment. not something I can share with family and friends...but wow factor on the production and content he squeezed in there.
  13. actually just came back in from a short ride...we have had a couple days of flooding rain..last night was the one that put the creek over...woods flooded etc...so wanted to ride out on the property and see how bad things were...the wife likes to take pictures. so yeah, first time starting the ol 300 in about a month...and man did I have to dig into the choke...but after about 5 spins on the starter it kicked in...let it warm up...and sure appreciate the old air cooled design on a day like today..winds in the 40mph and chilly !! getting down to 20 tonight...mind you, we've had 80 degrees just last week...welcome to the Carolinas.
  14. I am always amazed that my 300 can sit for a month and is ready to crank...a bit cold natured, so when it has set..yeah...couple taps on the start button...
  15. I rented the brush cutter deck once to put on the front of the big skid..gotta say I was thoroughly intimidated by that machine..in part I guess cause it's out in front, not pulling behind..but I was going after 3 incher trees like they were grass
  16. always enjoy time in a skid...large or small. have both available to rent in my area and since I own a 3500 duramax I can hitch to the big rental trailer no problem. But the smaller units I can get from Home Depot usually do just fine..just got be a little easier with them. bout once every 3 years we get some back to back storms that dump inches of rain and I have to redo the driveway and road here on the property..so it's really just pushing gravel and smoothing things out work...snow would be fun.
  17. only advise I've got...get ready to really enjoy some ride time...the smaller bikes are so much fun....more like "riding" than "driving"

yousers you guys !! in the upper 60s /low 70s here...but it's back n forth..and will be now for another month...still..the geese have arrived on the pond, red maple is blooming (sneezing time). frogs and turtles have even come out on the pond.. I know this isn't spring and we'll get a march hammering..but it's awful nice at the moment...now that I'm recovered from Covid... I likely will pull a honda out of the garage this weekend...get my body back to strong
  19. very true statement. I've found that some folks seem to stay in it and push through that moment...where others, like me, bail out. Seems like most every time I've gone to an extreme, I wind up "giving up"..had I hung on for that last split second, I might have landed right, etc...but because I flinched, it was crash n burn..and usually some broken bones. I noticed this early in life when I was doing competitive martial arts...some guys just don't flinch/blink...others have a natural blink factor that is just so hard to overcome and it costs them when the "fists of fury are flying"...grin... I've been on 250s on back country roads...rough asphalt and wide open throttle and my brain came to its senses and said...this bike ain't meant to run this fast...you're about to loose a lot of skin...and I backed off the throttle...other times what seemed like a good idea and a moment of glory... I just didn't ride it out...and wound up needing a few days of medical care...LOL
  20. wow....you guys really get into some stuff !! fantastic pics. the one ride that continues to get talked about at my end was actually on my lil 1979 Trail90....and it really wasn't that big a deal...the reaction from some other riders was what made it fun. Location: Adventure World - ATV park in SC. place was stupid muddy that day and they don't maintain the trails so massive ruts from larger machines made riding smaller ATVs tough as they'd bottom out and some 2 wheeler kids were getting stuck in the ruts that had them literally waist deep on their 3/4 size dirt bikes. I had taken my old red wonder there for the day just to tool around a bit on the easy trails and enjoy some relaxing cruising....kinda see what old school could do. Was by myself, so I pulled in with a dad and his two kids all on 2 wheelers...but the ruts were causing his kids so much trouble that I left them...I wound up following a string of about 8 ATVs in various configs..and I'm directionally challenged, and the trails are very poorly marked...one thing led to another and we wound up down in a basin..where the boys love to drown their machines in mud holes... I stopped and sat and watched the fun for a while and then my train of guys were ready to head on...trouble was, we were on most aggressive trails and we came around and was looking at a pretty steep hill climb. I sat the bottom wondering if the smarter move would be to backtrack against traffic and I waited while the smaller machines almost toppled backwards, mud flying everywhere, etc...they finally made the hill and it was time for me to get going. I actually just watched my balance and rode up the middle hump...so while it was definitely a low gear careful climb and all the bike had in it, it actually wasn't that bad..nothing compared to what the ATVs were struggling. when I reached the opening at the top, the whole bunch of them had stopped for a break and checking a couple busted parts on at least one machine... They looked up to see me coming out and they let out a cheer...the one guy walking towards me saying "Man...you're the effin Man!!! I can't believe you took that hill!!!" I've got it on my gopro that was handbar mounted...so, yeah, old white haired granpa on an old moped....that was the imagine they had... I didn't bother to tell them that it was just about balance and riding the hump. ya know, there's likely no way my lil fourtrax 300 would made it up that hill that day...just not enough clearance and the side walls of the trail were impossible to bridge from center hump.
  21. also..check the gas tank for rust and the brakes...if you don't do your won work, you'll be surprised at what a brake job costs at the local shop.
  22. wow Wilson....thanks for sharing those pics.. I continue to be amazed at what folks ask our smaller 300s to do. I really baby mine I guess. on rare occassion, the wife wanted to see some of the flooding out back so she hopped on my 300 with me...that's about 430lbs total body. and then there's the occassional 10ft trailer but loaded with branches and smaller limb cuts, not full sized firewood. past life would see a couple bags of feed out to the plot, and a deer on the rack back home...again, nothing unusual nor pushing the bike.

cousin in Ohio ping'd me this morning... 1 degree F. we've been perching mid 20s at night here...which is colder than I want... and now forecast is for this weekend...3rd in a row...we'll see dusting to 2inches of snow. I've yet to both to put the generator back in the garage...it's out behind the house from 2 weeks back (yes covered under tarp)...ready to go. the area where all my utils live.. (3) HVAC, water heater, pool pump and pool heater...all behind a tall privacy fence and only way you get to that area is to walk between the back deck stairs and the pool gate entrance..and my security camera and motion lights will get ya...anyway..out of sight, ready to rock.
