  1. some say these models have a habit of the oil pump chain coming off ?, from what little i know, this chain is behind the front engine cover.
  2. my money says the hondamatic is bad..but hey..what do i know ?..lol.
  3. welcome to the forums hunter54, i am in central arkansas, great members here for sure !.
  4. tells me those spacers are too thick for those rims/hubs.
  5. gear transfer case right next to shift motor, a few bolts, then pop the cover off, under it is your transfer gears, this is what you clean out, replace with fresh grease. pay attention to how the gears are installed !.
  6. if it wont move ?, chances are, that $ 1800.00 dollar part is your problem, its the main thing that makes it move. unless you have a tranny gear issue ? ( highly doubtful ), i see no other answer to fix it.
  7. nope, your wrong, rtv sealant is NOT the same as hondabond/yamabond !.
  8. lol..'' mudder ducker '' woulda been better...lol.
  9. lol wifes makeup mirror..now thats using yer head !. prob the best use that mirror will ever have huh ?..rofl.
  10. rtv sealant ??..oh man..i don't see this engine lasting long.
  11. you could, but you will need a two-way rocker switch to change the polarity of the power source to make the shift motor go both ways. this is what the buttons on the bars do.
  12. flashlight and a mechanics mirror works very well !.
  13. update: got the new duracell battery installed, impressed with the dual connections, not impressed with where they made the cable post holes in them though..but i made it work after telling fish about it, he told me what he did, i just cut the lip off the end of the cable, made it flat then, bolted it up, connected my battery minder connection, then installed my contactor for my winch, got all that hooked up, she fired right up right out of the box. 220cca, little pricey ?, but after the online discount, refund on core, i came out the same i did with the interstate battery if you figure in all the driving i did back and forth to them !!..omg...i will never buy a atv battery from them again !.
  14. 450 rims, they are the same as the 500 though..same rims fit the 400, 450, 500, in 12 inch size.
  15. i see how its made in the pic i linked ^^, check the shaft, and check to make sure the inside matting area does in fact turn when in gear ??. should be a female end..inside the rear cover there where it mounts.
  16. found this for ya if ya HAVE to buy a new speed sensor ? --> Honda 37700-HM7-751 - SENSOR ASSY., SPEEDOMETER | Partzilla.com . please check rocky mountain atv for the same part, will be cheaper !.
  17. before you buy anything !!, pull that sensor out, and ohm it if it can be done by the service manual ?, also, have a look to see if the gears inside there really turn when in gear ?.
  18. update: just got a tracking number for my brake kit last night, say's it will be here by tuesday ?. wont take long to get that mounted on i hope ?!..lol.
  19. i avoid hf for the most part, unless i want some throw away stuff after one use ?, i stay away from them. yes, it was pricey, but my '89 trx350D foreman is worth it !.
  20. what..not 4x4 ??..lol. ohhhh this will be good to watch !....lol.
  21. great !. if shift motor does work with power straight to it like you did ?, then this tells me about 3 things, switch button on bars is bad ?, cpu/ecu/cdi/control unit is bad ?, or angle sensor is bad ?, or no power to connector to shift motor ( this is caused by one of the first two problems.
  22. deff a speed sensor for sure !., before buying parts, check the connection at the sensor.
  23. i am going to toss in my .02's worth, and you can take it with a grain of salt. first : the clutch has NOTHING to do with why it will not shift, ever !. the clutch only keeps it from moving once it is in gear..that's all the clutch does..has NOTHING...AND I MEAN NOTHING TO DO WITH WHY IT WILL NOT SHIFT ?!. second: deff get the gasket taken care of, may as well replace the final shaft front out put oil seal while you have the front cover off..does it leak ?, maybe not ?, BUT NOW IS THE TIME TO REPLACE IT !. third: you need to test the shift motor to see if it is getting power while you have it out of the cover, plugged in, key on, hit the up or down buttons..does the shift motor move at all ?..if it does not ?, this very well could be a bad shift motor. DOES NOT MEAN IT IS THE SHIFT MOTOR ?, BUT IT DOES NARROW IT DOWN. if it does move when tested this way ?, then you need to inspect the electric shift transfer gears right there at the motor area, chances are , you either have a gear with bad teeth ?, or the shifting shaft splines are stripped out ?, either one..or both ?!. last but not least, very well can be a bad ground from battery ?, been there, done that. this should keep you busy for a min or two. please keep this thread updated , thanks !.
