once apart, start looking at the shift forks and shift drum !.

the balancer will fall out regardless of said bearing, but !!..once the crank is out, stick the balancer gear back down inside the bearing, rock it side to side, see how much play there is ?, there should not be any side to side play at all ?..if there is ?, the bearing is wore out.

under the balancer is a bearing, most likely it needs to be replaced. when in doubt ?..now is the time to replace ALL bearings in center cases !!. been there not long ago ?, it cost me to rip a brand new engine all back apart to replace all bearings in center cases..lol. I WILL NEVER MAKE THIS MISTAKE AGAIN !!.

that piece is the main jet needle seat, once you remove the tube, tap it out from the top side, it comes right out. as for that bent tube ?, you will need a new one, that wont fly. shidy carb kits DO NOT come with this tube in the kit.

don't even need to watch the video ^^ ?, when in neutral, everything should turn easy and free. its no diff than any other gears in our newer trannies...they are work the same way ?, just made diff is all.

yep, clutch one-way bearing is going out. they make a whirling down sound...then '' clunk '' this is a one-way bearing going out.

too bad i am late to this thread ?..lol. yep..the left side lower case has the mounting bolts to mount the front transfer case, where as the 2wd left lower engine case does not !.

agreed with jeep ^^..your gear position switch is 180 out. the switch has a tang on it ( little rod ) the longer end of it MUST FACE the small letter N stamped on top of the switch housing.

tip: the trx400 crank is the very same crank the trx450 uses !.

@jeepwm69 , read back at the top jeep, my first thought is a bad shift drum ?, thie sub-trannies are bad about bad shift drums, and weak shift forks ?. they do roll when in neutral.

when new..yes..they are a tad harder to shift...don't worry..it will shift easier the more you ride it. other than normal oil changes, brake shoe checks , air filter changes, spark plug changes, lubing the cables, keeping the fuel treated when sitting ?, its an easy atv to maintain.

update: last and final post, it's done , loaded , headed to the cabin for my gal. we road round for a few miles, it did great !.

just grease the rim beads, and grease the tire beads, they will '' seat '' every time pretty fast.

oh wow !..you got a gold mine right there ^^^ !!..that is the rarest of the rares to say the least.

i always grease my rims along the inner bead...and the tire bead...this helps the tire to pop out ( seat ) pretty fast. i never paid any attention to the air pressure though ?. also..let the tires sit out in the sun for a bit...this also helps them stretch.

yeah..they tend to hit lower hanging limbs and stuff, i don't have an issue with this ( yet ? ), but i also don't want too either !..lol. i want the roll over protection, but not so much that it hits branches and limbs, or anything else hanging low. sooo..in order to get around some of this problem, i wanted to make it to where the rops bar would fold down when i needed it too ?, but the way they designed this rops ?, it just would not work the way i wanted it too. so i came up with a way to leave it on the tractor..and be able to go under lower hanging problems. i will be taking the tractor to the cabin here in the next few days to clean up the yard where the septic tank was put in ( the guy kinda left it in a mess ), so i'll get some pics posted of it when i get it out of my shop. i still need to get it painted, put some springs back on the clutch and brake levers ?, then it '' should '' be done ?.

i've drank bud ( not bud lite !..lol ) most of my drinking days life, and this crap hits home hard all because of this '' wanna be '' tranny dude !!!..wtmf ya know ??. me and my gal now have to search out a new beer because of this crap. Heineken is a good tasting beer, but dang it's not cheap !.
