  1. not so fast !..legend has it ( msm did not mention it ! ), he had a back pack on full of gasoline !!!.
  2. update: well..got the dreaded phone call from rmatv ( a month later ! ) that the front fender is no longer being made from honda !..not sure how this pan's out after i spoke to a rep from honda motor corp ?..lady told me back then most parts were still being made ?..yeah..what ever lady !!..lol. had to speak to the gal ( give her the bad news she was not getting her fav color..sigh )..she choose to go with red..and even that color may not be around for some of the body parts ??..sigh. anyway..had all plastics changed to red now...we'll see how this pans out in a few weeks ?, yes..i said few weeks..as the front fender is also on back order..which tells me..it may too be discontinued today ?..man..this project is killing me !. and i know dang well..IT'S CUZZ THIS MF STARTED OUT YELLOW !!!..lol. i've said it b4..i'll say it again...YELLOW DOES NOT LIKE ME !..THAT GOES BOTH WAYS..ROFL,
  3. i'll say this..and leave it at that. some things on atcs..atv's..you can make it work..and some things you MUST put the correct part on them ?..and this is not one of those parts you cheap out on !. ever hear of the saying.. '' you get what ya pay for '' ?..well..this is one of them !...lol.
  4. you must have the choke installed in carb, or yes...it will suck air, not run right.
  5. HAHA..still no word on fenders ???..you might just finish before me after all !..lol.
  6. never rule out the timing maybe off on the cam. when i build an engine, i start with the cam chain first, then i check the rear pull starter cage to make sure the timing mark on the cage tab lines up with the raised arrow right behind the cage, about 1 o'clock. it is very wise to make sure piston is on top dead center , cam chain marks are lined up, rear pull starter cage timing marks line up. when all this is done ?, then rotate the pull starter cage counter clockwise off the timing mark, as you do this..the intake valve will start to open. if it does not ?, then you have the piston on top dead center on the exhaust stroke from the start off the cage marks. rotate the cage clockwise back to the line on cage tab, then rotate the cage 360, all the way around to where the line on cage lines back up with raised arrow, now rotate backwards again, as you do this, the intake valve will start to open. word from the wise: NOT ALL ENGINE PROB'S ARE FROM CARB ISSUES !.
  7. same as jeep ^^, i do not use anything on the studs.
  8. just checked the jet sizes, you will be good no matter what size you run, 120, 125, 130 will run just fine. as for the carb heater not being hooked up ?, it will run fine without it. they really serve no purpose on these machines , unless you live in alaska ?..lol . CAUTION: IF YOU RUN A SNORKEL SET-UP ?, THEN YES..THE JET SIZES WILL MATTER !. i do not run snorkels at all, so i do not worry about it.
  9. yes, a 450 carb will work on your 400, but please check to see if the jets are the same ?, i do not know, as i have not checked to see.
  10. in the past, i have used jb weld on the backing plate to build up the area where the large o-ring sits in. then smoothed it down with my dremel tool. pretty easy to do. DO NOT TRY TO WELD ANYTHING TO THE BACKING PLATE !!..its not something that takes to welding.
  11. yep, no post..means its prob a trx300 backing plate.
  12. unless someone welded the hub to the drive shaft ?, the hub should just pull right off the cv shaft, and out of the knuckle. there is nothing holding it in there. it just slides right into the knuckle bearing.
  13. then you got the wrong rims on it !. that model requires 25x8x12 on front, and 25x10x12 on rear. just a fyi: the backing plate from a trx350 rancher, trx400fm foreman will be a direct swap for the rear brake backing plate if you can not find one for a trx450fm ?. p.s. welcome to the forums !.
  14. 1 time..lol. they said as far as they can see ?, there are still in the process of getting them to them, then to me.
  15. moving this thread to build section sail :-).
  16. haha..well...you just asked the $ 64.000.00 dollar question, the answer you seek could be anything in that engine !.
  17. made a front weight for my b2100 kubota, about 100 lbs give or take ?.. and a pic of my tractor with the new 3ft brush hog.
  18. here is my rear rack fix, mind you..i'm not a pro at welding...and this rear rack is a rust bucket in some places..lol.
  19. welcome to the forums.
  20. if i remember ?, i'll snap some pics of the rear rack today. she's been very happy with the way its turning out, then again, she's known of my work for many yrs..she knows i build great atvs !..lol. as for her coming on here ?..good luck with that..rofl.
  21. update: spent some time today welding the rear rack back together, got that done ( no pic's..deal with it !..lol ) this is all i did on her today, still waiting on plastics to get here, no word yet ?..sigh.
  22. i just know they are 2-strokes..and a death wish !..lol.
  23. the relay will be back near the battery. the 420's are prone to bad fuel pumps.
  24. that is the high lifter, i highly recommend them, even though they are high dollar ?, i had no issues what so ever installing them on any of the 450's that i have built, where with the super atv kit ?, i could not get the brake line to attach to the calibers without the lines rubbing the tie rod end. yes, you can also use this very same kit on the trx300's without any issues, but !!!..you will need to run 12 inch rims in order for the calibers to clear the rims.
