I admire you guys doing your own reloads.

I'm, well, not too lazy, just have other hobbies that I'd rather spend time and money on..so it's never been on my short list

thanks. Many of my friends like the idea of reloading but not the effort. You’re not going to save money on ammo but you will shoot more. I know my rifle a lot better now. was thrilled to take my antelope at 375 yards, 1 shot, with a handloaded cartridge that is not offered by the manufacturer.

yes my chrono reduces bullet point of impact by a little over an inch. I work on muzzle velocity first, then seating depth to finetune group size.

Im Having good luck reloading. Trimming 7mm Rem Mag brass this morning.

I’ve learned that my magnetospeed V3 chronograph changes the bullet point of impact. So i can work up muzzle velocities and relative accuracy, but if i want to sight in—gotta pull the chrono.

I suspected the muzzle mounted chronographs would do that.  I've experimented with gobs of duct seal placed in various locations along the barrel.  Unfortunately group sizes usually got worse but it did prove the theory that barrels vibrate and the rate can be changed.

Congress makes laws.  No POTATUS, not the ATF.

This was addressed in Bruen, and they're still ignoring the ruling, so F em.

My state passed a law forbidding local LEO from assisting the feds from enforcing any new gun control laws, and that's on actual laws.

This is not a law.  Ignore it.  Even if it was a law, it's unconstitutional, so again, ignore it.

This is the only way forward guys.  I'm not saying flaunt the fact that you aren't going along with them anymore.  I'm not saying do stupid things, but for complete and utter BS like this?

No, will not comply.  Kiss my !.

I can neither confirm or deny. 🤔 That being said, I find the ergonomics of holding and firing are very comfortable, especially as I get older. Your trigger hand is in a more comfortable position. You can sit comfortably with a bipod and a hand on the grip while waiting for a shot on a predator. Great for coyotes, prairie dogs etc. I personally would not use it for deer hunting. In spite of the media calling it "high power" ( there is no such designation) there are much better options. They can be very accurate with the right gun and ammo. You can also shoot  .223 in it. One issue can be the mil-spec trigger. Most of them are rather gritty feeling. You might want to upgrade that for better accuracy. If you're carrying it hunting I prefer 10 shot mags, they don't stick out so far. Let us know what you do.

I'm thinking about it not 100% yet was looking and liking AK-74 but ammo is scarce, so now looking at AR-15. I have no plans to hunt with it want it for target shooting and home defense. After hunting season I'm planning to construct a shooting range (getting crazy at Sherburne WMA shooting range) to practice and have some fun with my CZ-512 .22 mag, Savage .308, CVA .45-70, 9mm and AR-15 if I decide to buy.. Wife enjoys shooting too she shoots 6.5 Creedmoor, Marlin .22 lr, CVA .45-70, 9mm and would also shoot the AR-15.

Palmetto State Armory has far and away the best prices on AR's.  They are not "operator grade" firearms, but I doubt most people are "operator grade" people.  PSA does have functional, decent looking firearms.

One can put together an AR now for about $400-450, which is cheaper than they've ever been.  That is likely not going to be the case for much longer, so if you're on the fence, I wouldn't stay there for long.

The AK market fell apart when they stopped the cheap imported ammo from Russia.  I'd stick with the AR.

I almost bought an AR from Brownells that was a close replica to the original M16A1 but wanted a heavier barrel in the 1/12 or 1/14  twist since I mostly shoot lighter bullets.  This was December 1999 and while waiting on one to come in stock the flipped pandemic hit.  Wisely, in February 2000 I spent my money on reloading components instead.  Ever see CNN or MSNBC talk about the "Crazies" with enough ammo to start and finish WWIII?  Well, that's about what I now have on hand.

You can never have too much ammo unless you're swimming or on fire.

Jeep, I can buy it assembled for $459.95. Friday I'm going to Herberts guns in Prairieville  and get some high mount scope rings installed and get scope bore sighted on my .308. While there I'm going to look at some AR-15's If I  can get a good deal might buy one.

Ok, you said $559 in the above post.

There is a federal excise tax on complete firearms that are sold.   Buying them in pieces avoids that tax, which is why it's usually cheaper, even though it takes practically no work/skills to slap an upper on a lower.

Jeep is right...nothing wrong with a PSA15..and honestly for civilian light use, an AR15 platform should be in that $600ish range..not the $2200 range

I have both ends of the spectrum.

A 2011 Colt LE6940 (stamped restricted law enforcement/govt only). It is basically M4 minus the select fire option

and at the low end, I have S&W M&P15, which when I bought it a few years ago, was a $600 carbine..now they are priced at $900 as they have gained in popularity as a value gun.

The M&P is actually living in my truck since 10/7.  Replaceable

The Colt stays home and it'll be a bad day when  need to press it back into service.

223/5.56 is illegal for deer in my state so there's not pretending that these are "sporting rifles" for me.. They are self defense tools

My battle rig, however is an Armalite AR10.   I trained and am solid on it out to 600yards offhand prone on the ground. and that 7.62 round will do the job at that distance.

Uncle Sam seemed to think the 5.56 was good out to 600 meters, and I still have an original original early 1990s Colt AR15 rifle but I've not had it past 400yards

Ammo is back up in price due to the recent Lake City notice and the usual panic run.

With the war fronts, I don't expect it to recover too quickly, so get what you can, even at premium prices to match that new carbine.

But yeah, it's time for every good man to have one in their home.

used to be a 3 round shotgun for hunting, a 22lr ruger 10/22 for plinking, and maybe a revolver bedside was all   a household needed.
