Honda prices change all the time. For example, the 420AT rear diffs for the 09-14 models just went from about $500 to $692. If I had to guess, Honda raised their prices, and the guys we buy from will be raising theirs to cover their increased wholesale cost. It's all going up over time. A few years ago I could get an 07-13 420 knuckle new for $70ish. Now they're $166 (or at least they were last time I looked).
  2. I ordered some tan 300 fenders when they were still available and didn't get hit with a shipping charge, but they are small for fenders, and I ordered the front on one order, and the rear on another a few months later. If you look at the "list" price (retail price) on Partzilla's schematics where you add the stuff to cart, that's normally what your local dealer would charge. You could try the "I'd rather buy locally, will you price match" line with your local dealership.
  3. Might lose a finger on that left hand too if she's not careful.....
  4. Probably seized up. Pull it out and gently work it back and forth. Probably stuck in one position. You're not making me feel confident about these pink plastics! At least I have an extra set of green I can put on it if I need to.
  5. Hmmmm. What about wet sanding? Wonder if that would work?
  6. Looks about like the 2012 Rubicon I picked up. I'm going to see if I can get it more red with a heat gun. You might try that.
  7. The scum will never let it happen. They need the tax revenue from the working people.
  8. Looks good. You're missing a tail light though!
  9. LOL. I have one of those wired onto my sprayer on my old JD lawn tractor. What was even better was the light switch wired into the ignition of my neighbor's 350 Rancher when he bought it. Like a wall light switch. LOL I would have thought it was stolen except the guy had a title for it.
  10. If Northern CA could split off of the cities, you have a huge number of good hard working rural folks out there. It's like like Illinois though. Whole state is controlled by the cesspool urban areas.
  11. On your fenders, Partzilla is likely going to tack on a huge shipping charge. I've lucked out and ordered ONE fender at a time and slipped through without incurring the big shipping charges, but looks like most now get an email after the order is in telling the buyer there's a $$$ oversized shipping charge.
  12. I've tried to get Harig to come over. Haven't gotten a reply lately. That guy was the guru on the Hondatmatics. I need to pull the engine on the 2012 Rubicon I bought a few weeks ago and see if the oil pump chain jumped or if it has much bigger problems. The guy up in Indianapolis who had a CL ad selling rebuilt ones has disappeared, so he and Harig were the only two guys I know of who could work on the actual Hondamatics.
  13. Welcome aboard. I would use a 450 cylinder, piston, and rings, keep your 400 head. As Shade said though, you need to really check it over. If it's been sunk it likely has all kinds of crud in the bottom end that will work it's way up to that new top end and ruin it in short order. I always go all the way through any motor I get. Tear it all the way down, clean it out, and put a new timing chain in, and a crank if it needs it (check out www.mrcrankshaft.com for crank rebuilidng service). Then you know things are good to go for that new top end.
  14. Same here. I think they sometimes do a rebate that includes all the usual suspects/ FNPS, and sometimes they do it where it's just farm stores. Might call and ask. I know Walmart isn't listed on the Mobil rebate page, but some of the guys on BITOG forums called and they said Walmart was good to go (Amazon is not....)
  15. Now when you ride an older one that doesn't have that feature, it will REALLY irritate you.😅
  16. Only two rebates per household, before anyone goes full "jeepwm69/ hoarder" mode on them.
  17. On my kid's 300 I have LED pods run to the tail light wire. That way with switch on, the pods are on wherever the hi/lo switch is set. I wired a lightbar in on the front rack and put it on the high beam wire. so with lights on lo beam, just the lower pods are on, and with lights on high beam both lower pods and lightbar are lit up. You can see the setup on the 300 in this pic. The lightbar fits underneath the factory hoop on the front rack perfectly. Had to cut out the little crossmember right in the middle.

  19. Oil on clearance at Tractor Supply. Pull it up, check availability around you. Shows up at $29 but when you add to cart the price drops to $14.99 https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/mobil-1-truck-suv-full-synthetic-motor-oil-0w-20-5-quart-124572 I just ordered 2 jugs, 5 quarts each, for $15 + tax. Rebate on each is $12 so that’s about $9 for two 5 quart jugs (4.50 for 5 quarts, or less than a buck a quart) of full syn https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/promotions/motor-oil-rebate-program-2020 I did customer curbside pickup.
  20. Yep, installing these parts that you rebuild is tough!
  21. Hey I've been hitting the snooze button going on two weeks when that early morning alarm goes off. My shop is feeling very abandoned in the early mornings.
  22. No I've seen a lot of people with the same problem over the years, and every one of them had the thing up on jackstands trying to run it after they shaved down the speed sensor. The 7mph thing going to 4th gear popped up in someone else's thread from a couple of years before I was troubleshooting. Sure enough, mine was the same way. Put it on the ground and it's been fine since. Back up on jackstands, won't go past 3rd.
  23. You're not gonna melt! Seriously though, I had worked on the wife's Rancher AT for weeks trying to figure out why it wouldn't shift. I had it up on jackstands, had done a SRA secondary in it for an ~18% GR, and shaved the speed sensor down to read the new gear. Speedometer worked, but the thing wouldn't shift past 3rd gear with the exception of it going into 4th, but only at EXACTLY 7mph (that tells you how long I'd messed with the thing that I found that out LOL). Anyhow, I was working on it and it started raining, so I took it off the jackstands to pull it under the carport to mess with it. VOILA! On the way from the yard to the carport, it starts shifting. Turned out for whatever reason those bikes won't shift past 3rd on jackstands! And that's why you shouldn't be afraid to work on stuff in the rain!
  24. Looks like Caltric makes an aftermarket unit. Caltric is mostly junk, but they do have a couple of useable items (their TRX300FW ring and pinion gears are good, but bearings that come with them are junk). I don't think that bearing would be something I'd way to buy from Caltric unless it was a last resort. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Clutch-Bearing-for-Honda-91101-Ha7-674-91101-Ha7-671-91101-Ha7-672/283413450374?hash=item41fcc20e86:g:XnwAAOSwkCZchtat Or you could buy a used one, but you'd have to hope the bearing was in good shape.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-TRX-350D-TRX350D-Fourtrax-Foreman-9544-Centrifugal-Clutch/372863455203?hash=item56d064cfe3:g:NokAAOSwvvJd5ulG
