  1. I have 420 shocks on the front of my daughter's, but it's a 97/ second gen. Not sure about the first gen machines.
  2. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/atv/2002/trx450fe-a-fourtrax-foreman-es/final-driven-gear Ring gear is #9 Pinion gear is #8 And yeah, that left rear bearing goes and then water gets in there and rusts the splines between the ring gear and axle shaft.
  3. Take it apart and see what you find, order accordingly. You can mix pinion and ring gears on the newer machines. They are straight cut gears so you can buy the ring gear only and use your existing pinion gear if the ring gear is all you need. On the older machines like the 300's and 350D Foreman the gears were helical cut and had to be used in matched pairs. More than likely you'd need a ring gear, an axle shaft, and the left rear axle bearing that sits at the end of the tube right by the wheel. Those are the common bad spots. Again, tear it down and inspect everything. Then see what parts you need to replace.
  4. Probably your best bet there would be to have it purchased by someone here and then re-ship to you directly. I don't know what the shipping costs and regulations are to SA, but I can tell you I shipped a set of knuckles, rotors and hubs, and calipers to SAMUK last year and just the shipping was about $150. Anything over 4oz gets very pricey very quickly when it comes to shipping overseas.
  5. Good to know on that PVC. Beats buying those OEM bushings over and over again.
  6. It'll have a ECU/ CDI up under the front fender. I had an 06 I rebuilt a few weeks ago that had a bad ECU. Fan wouldn't come on. That said, the factory service manual tells you to ground the oil temp wire and if the fan comes on, the control unit is good. On that 06 if I grounded the temp wire, the fan would barely move, then nothing. Swapped in a different CDI and it worked fine after that.
  7. Probably going to need a new axle and ring gear. The splines on both will wear and eventually strip out.
  8. 09 Foreman was still carb'd and air cooled. 05-11 Foremans were the last of the simple Hondas.
  9. Well so far this one doesn't need anything to ride it. But holy crud are the parts expensive!
  10. Got this one from @basfnb this weekend. Someone asked him if he wanted it for parts (his kid has one just like it). Said his kids had outgrown it and that is was "totaled". So Basfnb dropped it off at my place. Hasn't been run in a couple of years. Front plastics and rear plastics are trashed. Charged the battery, aired up the flat tires. I looked in the gas tank. Not much in it so I just filled it up with fresh gas, fired a couple of shots of starter fluid into the air filter, and it fired right up. Drove it up and down the street a couple of times, and while it sputtered a bit at first, after a min or so of driving it smoothed out and ran like a top after that. Need to do a little research on it and see what all maint I need to do other than air filter and oil, but doesn't look like anything's wrong with it other than cosmetic stuff. Plastics for these things are $$$ so we won't be replacing anything. I'll put some LED cubes in where the factory headlights were, and just take off the front center section and what's left of the rear plastic piece. My 14 year old squeezed in it and rode it up and down the street for a bit. It will be great for the little one when she gets a little older. I can start her out in something with seatbelts and a rollbar. The wheels are 4x110 so I'm going to scrounge through my old 300 wheels and tires and see if I can't put together a set of 11" Honda wheels with 24's on them to put on it. The ground clearance is almost non existent with the stock tires on it. I've always said I wouldn't own a Polaris if you gave me one, so I guess @basfnb has now proven me a liar.
  11. Doesn't look like he's been back. The fact that he grounded the oil temp wire and the fan came on, then he replaced that sensor with a new one and the fan still didn't come on, but the engine apparently overheated sounds to me like oil isn't getting to the top end. Either the oil pump went south or the oil filter was in backwards, limiting oil flow to the head, so that the oil in the bottom end where the sensor is wasn't necessarily hot, but the top end would be screaming hot from no oil. That's my hypothesis.
  12. It was as if millions of OSHA employees suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
  13. https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/41310-HA0-300?ref=eb891cd5c1cd5b7dbca2bab47dc18edd4676bdf5 Gears are same 86-89 as well as the BR250 and 250A Fourtrax The PITA pinion bearing on the 250A and BR250 is different than the 350A/350D pinion needle bearing, but they're the same in all the 350's. https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/91061-HC4-003?ref=eb891cd5c1cd5b7dbca2bab47dc18edd4676bdf5 That "related fitment" that shows up on Partzilla down at the bottom right corner is great.
  14. Must have just adjusted the rating. Rear ends are the same all the way through.
  15. The 87 350D was the oddball. 86-87 350A had one electrical system 87 350D was a one year only electrical system 88-up was a third electrical system They don't interchange, so if you have an 87 350D, most if not all of the electrical system is going to be specific to that one year/model. Hard parts should all interchange, but if you're doing any electrical make sure anything you get is specifically off of an 87 350D.

Rain her last night and this morning. Supposed to clear off but gonna be chilly this weekend, dipping down into the low 40's at night. Got the yard mowed yesterday afternoon, knowing the rain was coming in last night. As soon as I got through mowing (on my old John Deere 112L) a guy dropped off a Ferris zero-turn for me to try out😤 Dad's looking at getting one, so the guy brought it by for us to test ride. Wish he'd showed up about two hours earlier with it!
  17. Is it a 350D Foreman? (should be on the sticker up front). Have a gas gauge in the right side of the front fender?
  18. Now you know you gotta tell us how you did that Retro...... I pulled my back scooching a gas can in the bed of my truck last year. Did it again putting the baby down for a nap. But I've carried 1/2 dozen Foreman engines in the last two weeks, and been perfectly fine.
  19. I see you made it over. You changed the oil recently? Almost sounds like oil isn't getting to the top end. That's usually an oil pump that goes south or, more likely, an oil filter put in backwards
  20. I'm gonna need to see pics of that battery in the trunk. I've seen a lot of guys say to do that on a 300. Allows you to use a $25 mower battery (U1) instead of the stock battery that costs 3X's as much.

You live in in the South Wilson! We don't wait for "crews" to do stuff like that. We do it ourselves! I know you can't hook up power to people's homes, but I'd think you'd love to be clearing some roads!
  22. I haven't ever had one flip open. I put a clip on any that are used offroad. I've had one on the wife's Rancher for several years and never had an issue with it.
  23. Haven't had to. It hasn't had any issues since she got it.
  24. I have fumoto valves on all my street driven cars. Quality brass valves. Been using them for 15 years. Have never had an issue. https://www.fumotooildrainvalve.com/?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=search-fumoto&msclkid=7ede0735b97c175dcb1959876eb6da66
