  1. I was quoting you because I was reiterating that he needed to check the rod for play, and your quote tells him how to do it! 🤣
  2. I don't use a torque wrench. Just snug it up with a small 10mm box end while I hold the screw in place with a small flathead.
  3. As usual, Shade jumps in and offers to help out. The frame in N Arkansas is a 2011, and mine's a 2016. Different part numbers....I'm guessing it would swap over ok, but first I'm going to bend around on this one and see if I can get it reasonably straight. If I'm able to pull it off, I will still have ZERO dollars in this thing. If I screw it up...well it was screwed up anyway, so I might take a stab at that used frame in that case.
  4. Yep, I've seen a few loose ones that just needed that nut tightened up! Ya got lucky!
  5. Fish, get that thing! If you dig into it and it's too much, you could flip it and make some $$$ on it. Last one I saw for sale was a rustbucket with dents and busted glass, no wheels and tires, and looked iffy even as a parts vehicle. Hadn't run in years, interior was gone. Guy in Oxford MS had it on marketplace at $3500. Sold it quick too.
  6. I saw someone on bookface who used 05-11 500 shocks. Wonder how they measure out to a 450 shock? I have 500 shocks I can measure. @Fishfiles you mind measuring your 450 shocks?
  7. First of all, Shadetree is right about the early 350 Rancher valve seats coming loose, but it's not something I have ever heard/seen on a 420 Rancher. Some Hondas have what is called "the Honda tick". Regardless of what people say about it being "normal", I don't think that it is. That said, I've seen Hondas with the "Honda tick" go years and years and run just fine with no adverse issues. A lot of the conjecture out there is that it's the decompressor on the cam rattling around. https://www.hondaforeman.com/threads/2012-tic-tic-tic.90634/#post-744722 https://www.hondaforeman.com/threads/ticking-smoking-resolution-ahhhh.111666/ If your machine runs good, and doesn't smoke, I'd ride it and live with it. Just keep an ear open and if it changes, that would worry me and prompt me to tear into it. Do definitely adjust your valves, and make sure you do so on the proper stroke (read Shadetree's tutorial on adjusting valves). That's easy. If it's still ticking, monitor it and run it. My 06 Foreman has ticked since I went through the engine in 2013. Drove me nuts (see Rich450ES's comment in the second link above). I tore it down, put it back together, adjusted the valves 20 times. Still ticked. I finally said forget it and ran it. Still runs fine now, still has the tick.

  9. Find some 450 Foreman or 500 Foreman rear wheels. They'll match your front wheels appearance wise, and you'll have a much bigger selection of tires from which to choose. IIRC you can get new OEM 12" rear wheels for a 450 for $40 or so each. Or find a whole used set and sell your Rancher wheels and tires as a set.
  10. I expect it to be hard to turn in 4wd. Just didn't want to be fighting it while cruising trails. Now I need one.
  11. Yeah, even if I get it straightened out a bit I'm going to have to weld in some reinforcement or it will bend again due to metal fatigue. At this point I have ZERO dollars in it, so I guess if I screw it up, I haven't lost anything, right? Guy up in North Central Arkansas has a used frame for $300, but it's a long haul up there.
  12. Got some more pics of the tweaked frame on this thing over the weekend. Who has suggestions on how I can get this thing pulled back out?
  13. No kidding Fish. That thing is pretty.
  14. Sheesh, yall ! about your new cars. I have two 85 Jeeps, an 83 GMC, and a 94 Accord. People around here poke fun at me since the wife has a new Lexus GX.and I'm driving beaters.
  15. Oh man Fish, you outta be all over that. 66-77 Bronco's have gotten stupid expensive. Even rusted out junk now brings big bucks. When I bought my first Jeep back in the early 90's, you could get one for $3K all day long in good shape. My Jeep cost me twice that. Jeep prices haven't moved much. Those old Broncos have gone up 10x's what they cost 30 years ago. Unless he wants stupid money for that thing, BUY IT.
  16. They all look like that. Check for play and if there isn'l any, leave the crank alone. If you do need a crank, send it to Vince at Mr Crankshaft. If you're going through all the trouble to replace it, a used one is a gamble. You know a rebuild is good, and you can't get yours rebuilt for a couple hundred bucks (which is what a used one will cost you anyway)
  17. So still steers harder in 2wd? I was hoping with a 424 it would be stockish, but I guess my Jeep's front locker is only invisible because I have lockouts on the front wheels to completely disconnect the front end from the road.
  18. When they actually face consequences for what they do, that would thin them out considerably. Making drugs illegal certainly hasn't stopped anything. We need to lessen what's illegal in this country, and make the penalties for actual crimes much, much harsher.
  19. Don't think anyone makes a 27 for an 11" wheel anymore. Most wheelers have had 12" wheels all around for 20 years, so tires made for 11" wheels are becoming less available every year. Your best bet would be to find some Foreman wheels and go 12"s all around.
  20. Which proves that we need a huge overhaul of our "justice system". If someone is committing a crime, they shouldn't be able to sue anyone for anything. Period. As far as druggies are concerned, I say let them do it. People are adults. If they want to ruin their lives with drugs, that's their choice and their business. I say that as someone who buried two of my closest friends before I was 30, and who has an addict for a sister. If they commit a crime due to their drugginess, then treat them like any other criminal who committed that crime. No excuses because "they couldn't help it" or any of that crap. If they just want to be a drugged out waste of oxygen, let them. Their choice. We coddle them, spend billions of tax dollars trying to "save" them and fight the criminal cartels and gangs that pop up to supply the world with drugs. Treat it like booze. You want to do it, knock yourself out. We just need to take the gloves off when dealing with people who get screwed up and harm others. There shouldn't be manslaughter when a drunk or druggie drives and kills someone. That's murder. Speaking of druggies, we have a wealthy accountant who lives down the street. His kid (35 years old) has always been a worthless POS, because daddy's always bailed him out of any trouble he's in. He got out of either rehab or jail AGAIN a couple of months ago. Is living with daddy again. Their neighbor had a Ranger on a trailer, and an old 350 Rancher parked under her shed. Both disappeared sometime in the last two weeks. They were stored at the end of a dead-end street that most people around here don't even know exists....but that accountant has a shop at the end of the dead end street where his dead end son hangs out, and those rigs were right across the way from that shop. @basfnb caved that druggies face in one night. He tried to pop Bret in the face and run, and he didn't get away. Bret hit him once and IIRC fractured his eye socket and ruptured his ear drum. @basfnb is a little slow but you don't want him hitting you. LOL
  21. I bought the Executioners first. Then Mac and Toodeep kept talking about Mudbugs so I put a set of 27's on my other Foreman. Loved them. Ended up putting 26's on the wife's rancher, and 28's on another Foreman. Two of my buddies have bought Mudbugs too after trying mine out.
  22. What do you mean by "cam slider arm"? And as for bonded up pistons, I had one in a 500 recently that was completely welded to the rod. I messed with it for about 30 minutes and thought to myself "this is a waste of time, this rod is ruined anyway" so I took out my cut-off wheel, cut the end of the rod off, and dropped it in a box going to Mr Crankshaft for a rebuild.
  23. Looks cool, and that Aluminum should be super light!
