  1. Yep when working in those bins by the end of the day we were all so covered in dust that we all looked the same. I was the only white guy on the crew.
  2. I said something to the wife a couple of days ago about this being the time of year we were running 100 hour weeks with wheat coming in. She said "You sound like you miss it. You want to be working 100 hours a week again?" No, but I do miss working outside. Being chained to a desk in an office has made me soft and bored. I still remember my boss coming out and saying "Alright, alright, park that Bobcat out here, and let it cool off. Don't want to burn it up since it's a rental" Forget the guy sitting on the engine driving it. Let's worry about the piece of equipment! LOL
  3. That's cool. I really like the trailer too.
  4. Welcome back. Don't you love it when you spend hours trying to figure out a problem and it's a dang $2 spark plug? How's the GMT400 coming?
  5. Is this on that 91 300? If so, just get one of the cheap aftermarket petcocks on ebay. They work fine.
  6. Beautiful scenery out there. Thanks for the pics!
  7. Well the starter is out on it right now, and the updated part number required some other changes (longer battery cable, solenoid moved from under battery to being on the starter, needed longer mounting bolts etc). Gotta pick up a longer cable today and I should have it running again. Then I'm going to dig into the non-steering issue a little more. I'm guessing these are chinese tires that are hard rubber.
  8. Mine isn't steam, it's hot water, but yep, still have a boiler in the basement, radiators throughout the house, and a small circulation pump that pumps the hot water through the system. Works great, doesn't dry out my sinuses like forced air, and is a much more even heat. The den was a garage once upon a time. My grandfather enclosed it back in the 50's, and ran lines through the floor, connected to a water heater and another small circulation pump, so that room has a heated floor. It's NICE in the winter.

    opinions

I only buy used if it's super cheap and I plan on completely rebuilding it. You can buy a nice looking used machine that's a little cheaper than buying new, and it could have been sunk and abused for every mile on it, even if it's low miles. If you buy a basketcase and get it cheap, you go through it and check/fix everything, and then you know what you have. So I buy either complete POS's cheap, knowing I'm going to go over it, or buy new.
  10. Is there another kind of tea? And in the South pop is a grandfather, or what you do to a balloon. It is never used to describe a drink. it's Coke. It doesn't matter if it's Sprite, Pepsi, or Dr Pepper. It's Coke. When you ask someone if they want a Coke, that is asking them if they want a carbonated soft drink. They'll say "Sure" and then you ask what kind they specifically want. Yes I know, makes perfect sense. LOL

    Movies

Most of the new movies now suck. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I did watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off night before last. Last night I watched "Gunslingers" on the history channel. Story was about Bass Reeves. Guy arrested his own son when a warrant was put out for him. That's integrity right there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_Reeves What's Grey Owl about Fish?
  12. I checked my stash. All rotted out along the bottom seam, and all but one were rotted where the pipe goes into the muffler. Junk.
  13. Where do you live? That's the way it SHOULD be, but most places now that will get you in big trouble. We had a cat cut off of our van at work a few weeks ago. Gonna be $$$ to replace it.
  14. I went out on the farm and mowed roads at 5:30AM Sunday morning. Got on the tractor, and kicked the bushhog in, and I'd gone about 100 yards, and was in the shade (low hanging branches from both sides, and it wasn't full on daylight yet) bugs were swarming all over the tractor. I though "There was a wasp nest under the hood of the tractor and they are just now getting irritated enough to swarm me" I jumped off the tractor and ran a few feet away and watched, and got out my phone and turned the flashlight on. They were horseflies. Never seen that many of them or seen them swarming like that, but they were thick. I mowed for about 2.5 hours and I'll bet I got 100 bites on me from horseflies and buffalo gnats. I was ate up when I got to the house, huge red welts all over me.
  15. I saw a post on bookface a couple of days ago asking about insurance on ATV's. I called my insurance company and they told me that my ATV's were covered against theft by my homeowner's policy. That said, I only have titles on a couple of my machines, and the post I saw on bookface said that without a title, you cannot prove ownership, so the insurance company will not pay for a stolen ATV. That has me a bit perturbed, although I understand the reasoning there. Most people in Arkansas do not title their ATV's. When you title them you get to pay property tax on them every year, so most people never title them. I have a title for the wife's Rancher and a Cert of Origin on my 09 Foreman I bought new, but I never titled it because I didn't want to pay property tax on it every year.
  16. Yeah the rebuild I did was a nightmare. I got it running and cleaned out, but everything on those runs on oil pressure. They are geared high and that 3 speed would suck for the kind of riding I do, so I wouldn't have one. I like work-style machines better, even for cruising.
  17. There was a guy on the old board Rurouni20xx who was the Rincon mechanic. They are a totally different system than the automatic used in the Hondamatic machines that Brian rebuilds. 650 was carb'd with drum brakes, 03-05. Tended to have cam issues. 680 was EFI with discs, and hasn't really changed from 2006-2020 And Eyewitness89, I agree with you on the water cooled in the mud. I ride footshift 500's which are the last of the air cooled machines. When we get in the mud I spend a lot of time waiting on the liquid cooled machines to cool down when their temp lights come on.
  18. Yep. I've been running my 06 Foreman like that for 4-5 years. LOL
  19. https://www.pure-gas.org/ I only use ethanol free gas in everything except my newer cars. I've always run my outboards dry when I leave the lake unless I know 100% I'm going to be running the motor again soon (like during duck season), but for the rest of my stuff I just make sure I run the stuff every now and then. I use my chainsaws, blower, weedeater, hedge trimmers, truck bed air compressor, mowers, and 4wheelers at least once a year, and I haven't had any problems with any of those as long as I use ethanol free gas. I do run my generator dry when I crank it up. Never know how long I'll go between runs on that so it, like the outboards, gets run all the way dry.
  20. I like Shindy, but wheeler's offer would be hard to beat unless your cylinder has to be bored. I have rarely gotten by with a hone and rings. Normally I've had to bore them with a new piston.
  21. One of my buddies has a 680 Rincon. He rides with it bouncing off the rev limiter all the time, doesn't maintain it at all, and while I'm not a fan of the 3 speed, it has been a TOUGH bike. I rebuilt it a couple of years ago, and swore I'd never do another one. He sank it 3-4 times, and it finally started smoking, so I tore it down, split cases to clean it out, and put it back together with a .25 over top end, new pump chain, new timing chain, and no orings in the oil pump. It ran for about a week and then stopped pulling. I was swamped at the time so he took it to the Honda dealer, who replaced the oil pump, charged him $1K to do it, and it's been fine since. He had 650 before the 680 and said the 650 felt like it had more power than the 680. The 650 top ends are nikasil plated and can't be bored. No engine braking, and geared high. 3 speed kinda sucks, but for a trail machine they are a blast to ride. The IRS gives a great ride, and they have a lot of power compared to other Hondas. 650 also has drums up front. You can swap on 680 discs up front if you want good brakes.
  22. Welcome aboard! I think all the overseas 300's had speedometers on them. I know @SamUK said all the ones in GB do.

    Weather

Just started raining here from Fish's storm. Supposed to rain all day today, then ease up tomorrow afternoon. Farmers aren't happy. LOL We got a frog floater here Friday afternoon too. Came out of nowhere, Torrential downpour. BUT WAIT, there's more! Hail. I replaced our roof about 4 years ago and paid for it out of pocket, and NOW we get hail. Don't think it was enough to do any damage, but hail around here is pretty rare.
  24. Your one way bearing on your clutch is going bad. I have a couple that do it too. I just blip the throttle on them. That said, if I had a bike with no brakes I'd fix it for sure. I'll replace mine when I'm in there, but am not going to crack it open just to fix that bearing.
