  1. What a catch! Blue shirt guy is owed a few beers after that lol
  2. Don't know if this is an option but they certainly do some cool stuff! https://www.protolabs.com/
  3. Seems like if you really want other colored fenders you should contact Maier. They would likely do it for a custom charge. If red is $600 I can't imagine it being more than $1000 USD to get a custom set of green ones from them. The cheapest option is to do this yourself. Get any color fenders and spend the time and effort to do it right with the paint. Custom colors are expensive. I don't even like the green personally. My least favorite color they made.
  4. Good for Christmas if he painted the red ones green with the cheap stuff. Maybe you should paint it with Peel-Coat that way you can take it off when you want the red back 🤣 Plastic color changes can be done correctly where they don't peel at the first branch. You have to spend money and time on prep. The key is lots of sanding and adhesion promoter. You need to go plastic > adhesion promoter > plastic primer > plastic color base > plastic clear if you want results that last.
  5. Agree with TB. Hard pass for me at anything over $200 before shipping. No such thing as new OEM maybe NOS but that is just used. You can refinish any set of scratched up green ones to new. I'll fix up back to factory for you and send em North, just find a set for cheap. Edit: Maier can be good. I dunno why you say that really. Acerbis I could understand but its all plastic and inferior to OEM.
  6. Have had good luck with the heat gun bringing some old cables back to life. I'm using cable-life right now but any silicone based liquid spray lube will do. I bet you have a cable-luber tool... flood from bottom up if you can. While the cable is full of fluid heat the area that was pinched and around it with the intention of brining the material up to temperature and back down as gradually as possible. While you are doing this work the cable back and forth just a little bit to keep it from binding and don't melt it. If you have a scrap cable piece try it on that. Treat the outside of the cable after the process as well with the silicone spray and leave it on for a bit to soak in. The hope would be to mitigate some of the potential damage. Of course replacing it is the better option but just wanted to mention. Old stuff that can't be replaced this treatment is worth its weight. This won't help if it's a bent steel core. I think you already knew most of this just wanted to mention. Agree to send it lol
  7. I've always hated how an old Honda sounded with any other exhaust than stock. The only exception was an old Cobra. They are not high quality but it did sound good. Have you considered looking for a 350x, 400ex, xr400, rancher, etc muffler? If you could get a stock 400ex muffler with baffle on it that would sound amazing. The shadow muffler would probably sound great!
  8. Here is the gauge on the 05 500 I am working on. Sanding and buffing method. Didn't look that bad beforehand really but it is crystal clear now. Needs a light UV clear coat and it's like new again.

I like Pentatonix. Became a bit disinterested in them over time though. A bit... pretentious I guess is the criticism of them I have They are in the same category as "Walk off the Earth" for me and I like them better. This is worth a watch for the beanie guy on the right. Life-changing type talent from him...

Wow Scott. Impressed again by your variety! Dirty Heads are a gem. Basically unknown to mainstream music and one of the most multitalented bands releasing music right now. I would guarantee if you listen to enough of their songs (with an open ear) there would be something for you. Met a few of the guys personally and watched them play. True versatile rock stars who live and breathe music. Language warning. Some of their personal choices may be considered NSFW or not best for kids depending on your parenting style. Here are a few of my favorites...
  11. I like the plastic idea. Imprint? Just a bit confused about what you mean
  12. Awesome. Great explanation So that (slide carb) would explain why I hear it slightly on the 450 but have NEVER heard this noise on my 400ex. Valves wouldn't be tight on a 400ex either though so I was connecting dots that weren't actually there. (That noise to tight valves)(Similar noise though) Tappy valve happy valve on the 400 for sure. Never had issues with any of mine there. Skid plate on the 450 almost gave me a cardiac as it sounded bad before shimming lol Edit: Small bumps 😅
  13. Alright Slammed I got one for ya... At 0:10-0:15 you can hear what (to my ear) sounds like valves that are too tight. When you are low in the rev range and putting the engine under load you can hear this sound. Almost like a whistle-type noise and sounds a bit like the whoosh/whistle of a car window that is just slightly cracked. You can hear it clearly again at the end 3:02-3:07 What is that noise? Are your valves too tight and if so why? Am I hearing something else? What? Is this from low quality fuel? I might be getting rid of my 00 400ex... that is my clean one but not my original Really don't want to but reasons... Seeing this makes me want to ride with you even more. Nice little spot! Missing a bump or two lol Edit: I barely use the GoPro so I just tape it on and pull it off when I'm done lol
  14. It will make it polished pink if it's faded enough. Looks really cool if done right. Custom colors are expensive lol Look on the bottom of the fender for your end color. If the underside is faded that means the entire plastic is now that color. If it is red underneath it will look brand new when done with this method. Start with lower grit than 220 if you have to. Edit: You need to try this on clear plastic if you haven't. I'll take a picture of the gauge after but it will look new. Headlights etc "For the most part" 🤣 I love this about you my friend. I would bet you have been called honest-to-a-fault a few times in your life lol You could have kept the "a part of me hopes you have to take that thing back apart" to yourself but that wouldn't have been the truth. Here is video proof that shade is wrong once every year or two 😂 I just hope you stay wrong on this one and I'm not back in a month taking the tranny apart while full on humble pie! Ignore the valve tick-type sound as it doesn't do justice to reality. The engine is actually super quiet and sounds very loud in this clip. There are no fenders or covers on the bike which really makes things louder. Bad camera and super shaky but you can hear the clean shifting and 1st gear. Running great! Edit: Can't tell in the video but I am going up/down a hill in the field and it is very rough lol
  15. I'll be leaving this thread here. Feel free to close or remove. Long/short is I feel that I am over-the-hump and will likely bring it back to life. Due to this project taking a backseat it will likely take a long time. For anyone who would like to follow the project I am posting updates over on Spyderlovers Thank you for looking!
  16. This bike has a new owner. The plan was never to sell this one but the best laid and all that. Most likely... I will get to do the work on restoring anyway so hopefully I can still share. Hope everyone is having a great day!
  17. Well things sure have slowed down now that the weather is getting colder. Got the clutches, friction weights and springs replaced. Shifts perfectly now and centrifugal clutch is working again. The drum was slightly grooved but definitely usable with new weight set. Clutch plates were in-spec and even if they weren't could have been ran again. As you can see in the pictures everything was aggressively cleaned and re-oiled before going back in. I think all I used was scotch-brite, plastic blade-style scrapers, WD-40, assembly grease, GN4 and lots of paper towels (blue towels are better but more expensive) Compressed air is super important for getting the grit off parts before reassembly too. Wheeler man... I would have never taken an abrasive (more aggressive than scotch-brite) to the drum. That was a big risk in my mind... I just hope you got away with it. Jeep's hose clamp trick works like a charm. Almost good enough that you feel like you don't even need the real tool... I have used a strap before but this worked so much better. Thanks again! Shade you owe me one. The first gear in that bike is good. Video is uploading but long/short is that it shifts perfectly and first/reverse is exactly like any other gear. Take a note of the difference between old friction weights and the new assembly. Definitely needed it. New (OEM) springs make the clutch and centri-clutch feel amazing. Would never consider any other springs but OEM when doing a clutch. This bike will run many trouble-free miles on the new OEM clutches! A few pictures of the in-progress restoration on the yellow plastics. After washing with soapy water and scotch-brite the parts are sanded. If there is no damage I start with 220 on a power sander. Knock down the entire panel evenly as possible and use a sanding sponge for anywhere that can not be reached. I then move through the grits. All this is done dry and using air compressor to clear sanding dust. 220 > 400 > 600 > 1000 > 1500 and the soft cotton buffing wheel to finish. You should be using an impact driver with adjustable speed trigger for that step. The reason that an impact is better than the drill is when the wheel catches an edge the impact slips while the drill digs. VERY light pressure at first with the cotton wheel. No compound of any kind and make sure the surface is clear of sanding dust with air compressor before buffing. It can be taken to a ridiculous level but to factory mirror polish is not difficult. If you try and skip a few grits it will be much harder. Never use a heat gun to refinish plastics. Thank you for looking!
  18. If one of y'all left it in the sun and the other didn't well there is your problem. I left a plastic hammer outside by mistake for a few and put it back with the others from the set. That one was brittle enough that it cracked to pieces the next time we used it but the others are fine. Even long term indirect sun could ruin on I would think... of course it was from HF 😄
  19. This was a mean post directed at Wilson... Don't be mean.
  20. If you would please consider condensing them in my threads. Free county. Somewhere in the range of 8 depending on how many parts bikes worth of stuff you would count as a full bike. I have only 4 300s actively rideable at the moment. The tan one we spoke about is basically a full bike and there is another basically full running 2wd bike as well that was taken out of service due to the rear end.
  21. No 🤣 I have spent my entire life collecting Honda. I have +10 utilities between myself, my wife and bikes at my dad's house. You say not the right one and I say better than anything else that could be on the bike. I loved Honda's ATCs. They just don't love you back... Definitely not scrap yet. Honda doesn't make anything even close to this and if they did I could never afford it. You can edit a post and add to it for a long time after. You have two back to back when you could just edit the one. No worries either way. It cleans everything up to have less posts and your thoughts would be condensed to a single place.
