  1. @Fishfiles has talked about a bypass harness for ES problems and I think someone on here has put one on. Ypu don't have to remove anything just connect the harness in and depending on your issues I believe it allows you to use the ES functions. Maybe someone can chime in for more info. And by the way welcome to our forum, there are a ton of 450's here so help will be around....
  2. WM, the blueish is definitely the mix, any idea how much 2 cycle oil you added for 2 1/2 gallons? Should tell on the oil bottle how much to add and usually have a site window to see the amount. Next time I will drive down to make sure you do it correctly....lol
  3. Jeep getting retro to pony up what he has put in would be like pulling teeth, so no sense in even asking. You do need to make a post every month to say where we are at for expenses, otherwise the rest of us have no clue. And with the members that we have I hope we will never be in the hole as long as we know where we stand for money. I tip my hat to you, @toodeep, and @retro for taking care of this forum and keeping us on the straight and narrow, thanks a bunch....
  4. Sent a donation to Mark...lol use it wisely. Hope every little bit helps to keep this site going. Our members have meant a whole lot to me in these past few days, thanks all,,.
  5. I am so grateful to have a group of friends here even tho I have not met anyone in person. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers, I have been surrounded by family and friends and of course my church family. It gives me hope that I believe what lies ahead for us will make this life seem unimportant. Coming here has kept my mind off the sad things so I'm trying to stay busy. Our son and 2 grandsons live across the road so we are with each other alot. Again God bless my Honda friends.....
  6. Thank you for your thoughts. At this time only thing you can do is pray for our family for comfort and healing.....
  7. I have to let my friends here know I lost my wonderful wife this morning. She has not been feeling well for a couple weeks but was not a doctor person. She was ok this morning but when I checked on her around 10 she was unresponsive. I called 911 and started CPR, they were here for 45 minutes and did revive her but she passed on the trip to the hospital. I might not be aroud for a couple days so thought I would let everyone know why. Hope your days are better than mine today......
  8. @Fishfiles congrats on having a "normal" Mardi Gras this year, at least thats what I have read. Gonna be wild and crazy down there, have fun and be careful.....
  9. Hey Jay glad to see you, yep there are many 450's here and as said alot of them ES models. So there are lots of discussions concerning maintenance on them if you need any.
  10. Looks like a side business in the making...looks really good wheeler.
  11. Welcome Tony. We sure do have alot of guests on the forum all the time, nice to see you take the plunge....
  12. Rubi, be very careful cutting the dead ash, many times they don't end up falling like you anticipate. Some are pretty rotten at the base and who knows how far up and have known to "barber chair" or just break off after the notch. With a chain or rope to guide it should help but keep your eyes and ears ready......
  13. Jeep I can vouch for the DID chains for the 450. When I was rebuilding mine 2 years ago shade told me to get that one instead of OEM, first of all cheaper and second just as good for long term life. So yes I would tell ya to go that route....
  14. I know ownership has changed awhile ago but honestly I'm not aware who owns it now. But it would not surprise me if it was VS..... The website says it's owned by Johnson Management Inc. a Colorado corporation. So is this a side corp for VS? Don't know....
  15. Sounds like the top end is gonna be taken under advisement by the requested member. Handy you live close to have repairs done....
  16. Welcome Benji, jeep has some very good items for you to look at. Definitely something getting wet if it only happens after hosing it off.
  17. Hey N8, glad you found this site, we do have alot of helpers here to give advise, especially on the older models like you have. Hope you found the service manual link for your 400.....we do have a chat area we discuss all sorts of topics, usually evenings. The link to that is also in the top of the main page....
  18. Boss, just remember if and when you take the front cover off for clutch work or timing chain that you replace the one way bearing....lol
  19. I now this isnt very technical, but I have read where some have removed the ECU and baked at low heat in an oven, with some success. Maybe it would repair it enough to tell you if the ECU was bad, Some have said the heat temp repaired the ECU and some have said it lasted much longer. To me its worth a shot before spending $$$ on a new one. Somewhere there is a guide for how long to heat and what temp, hopefully someone here can fill in the details....
  20. Hey Ricky welcome to our Honda site. Take a look in the main menu options at the top. Click the Service Manuals, it will take you to a Google Drive section, then click Honda and Utility Quads, your TRX400 will be listed. You can download to your computer or phone from there, easy peasy.....
  21. But lets advertise and put BLM all over the tracks, get woke, go broke!! Bet there are many more old time NASCAR fans than BLM supporters, maybe that will change now. We haven't watched in 4-5 years, lost us even before this crap.....
  22. Yep can be done with the engine in, did my chain a few years ago. It is somewhat of a tight fit but with a couple extensions and metric tools it beats pulling the engine. When I was in there I also did my chain sprocket, maybe see if your teeth are worn, or I would just change while in there.....
  23. Hope it helps, thankfully had the front end apart a few times and didn't take as long as first time. Just have to remember where all the fasteners and bolts go....lol
  24. Yes fish when I installed a fan switch it was part of my mod......
  25. OK 350DD, took the front of my 450ES apart and took this pic of the fan control. You should be able to see what wires go where on the 2 plugs.
