  1. Yep can be done with the engine in, did my chain a few years ago. It is somewhat of a tight fit but with a couple extensions and metric tools it beats pulling the engine. When I was in there I also did my chain sprocket, maybe see if your teeth are worn, or I would just change while in there.....
  2. Hope it helps, thankfully had the front end apart a few times and didn't take as long as first time. Just have to remember where all the fasteners and bolts go....lol
  3. Yes fish when I installed a fan switch it was part of my mod......
  4. OK 350DD, took the front of my 450ES apart and took this pic of the fan control. You should be able to see what wires go where on the 2 plugs.
  5. Yep you are gonna light up the Montana skies.....
  6. With how his repairs have been going with new members here seems more like a hundred....
  7. Holy crap FF think it looks like more than a bang, more like an atomic explosion.....lol
  8. I agree FF, and have no plans on modifying mine in the future. I figure the good Lord knew what he was doing when he made me and don't think those in charge of this mess have the intelligence to make it better.
  9. Gotta say this is one of the oddest first post threads we have seen here. I have no idea how to answer this....

Around here we call a stack of wood 4' X 8' X 16-18" a face cord as opposed to the standard cord size which is a face cord times 3. That way its easier to figure out what you are pricing to buy or sell..... Too much confusion when a cord of wood could be either size...
  11. Unfortunately many families have a story to tell that has sad endings....
  12. Thank you FF same to you and all here on our forum. We're having a nice turkey dinner later with all the fixings.
  13. Merry Christmas to all our members here!!! It isn't Louisiana here but 46F and rainy sure didn't bring us a white Christmas. I can live with that in my older age....
  14. Fish that is correct, I have had that happen a number of times when I wasn't paying attention. It basically means you tried to make a post but there was nothing typed, hense it asks "what are you talking about". Ted you mentioned that last night while we were in chat but I figured you had been disconnected which does happen once in awhile also. I mistook what you were asking, sorry....
  15. Chevy, I certainly feel your pain. Over the years I have had prolly 10-12 animals put down at the vet, never is one easier than the other as they all become part of your family. This includes both cats and dogs. The vets always ask if I want to be present with the pet and I have never refused. It seems they are comforted knowing their family is there with them. And yes once the injection is done it is a very fast decline which certainly helps, I have never had to experience any sign of their pain, just quickly falling asleep. And also I agree once done it is sad but I always feel that sense of relief, never fun watching them suffer.
  16. I don't think there is any amount of training that could prepare you to witness what Wonder and those involved in the rescue and recovery did. I honestly don't know if I could handle a situation like this but certainly glad there are those who step up to the plate. This is especially true if you are in a similar life threatening situation.....
  17. Agree with THH, the only Rotella oil to be used with wet clutches is T4 and T6. I don't know how quickly any damage is done but wouldn't run it before swapping the oil out....

Arkansas had issues also, I sent @shadetree a text yesterday and he said everything ok there, he was hunting.....
  19. Welcome Markz, sure a bunch of early model 450's around here. You have a rare issue with your manual shift problem, seems almost all problems brought here are with the ES 450's. I'm sure you will get some helpful advice soon, lots of knowledge here about these models.
  20. Earlier thread says 2004 TRX450 FM...
  21. Then there is Partzilla which many here have used. But I believe to get free shipping RMATV has a lower $$$ value than Partzilla. But as jeep said it's best to do a parts check on different sites, just remember as I found out a few years ago, one site may have the lower price on a particular part but higher on others. Don't forget to factor in shipping costs and also important, do they have your part(s) in stock.....
  22. Welcome 1942, yep another happy Foreman 450ES owner here. And trust me you will get heartache from some around here about your choice of Honda, just ask me....lol There are a few things you should do to keep them shifting well and as said prior take the shift motor off and replace the junk grease Honda packed in there, what little they did. Your shift motor will love you having a proper amount of grease to help things work better. I guess we are a few of the lucky ones or we take care of our machines.....
  23. Believe both valves will have play on compression....
  24. If you set the timing on the exhaust stroke doubt it would start. Thats why I said it would be easier with the valve cover off. But try checking for the puff on compression....
