  1. i got the rear diff case halves cleaned up, rear axle cleaned up, here is some b4 and after pics of the diff case halves. now i wait on the bearings and seals.
  2. lol. i can't wait to hear this story later down the road ?!..lol.
  3. yep, push it up into the swing arm, u-joint first, will take some twisting to get the u-joint to go back onto the output shaft, once that is done, make sure the tension spring is in the back end of the drive shaft ?, large o-ring in the diff grove where it bolts up, press the diff onto the drive shaft as far as you can, quickly put a nut on the studs to hold it, make sure the large o-ring does not fall out of the groove ?, then do all 4 nuts on the studs, thats all there is too it.
  4. yeah, the u-joint under the boot, splines onto the output shaft, its a tad tricky sticking the drive shaft in the rear of swing arm, all the way to the output shaft and getting the u-joint to slide onto the output shaft while trying to keep the u-joint from flopping around , but it can be done easy.
  5. i went to my buds place this morning ( cat fish ) , picked up some '' replacement '' parts, i am pretty sure i can get this rear end all back together, and it drive ?..lol. nothing will be new on the rear diff cept bearings and seals, and even those are after market, this is a budget build, and we are trying to get the dollar spending down as low as we can, and still have a dependable trx300fw. i did buy a brand new oem c.d.i. for this, out of my own pocket, cat fish wanted a china one, i said heck no..i'm not putting a china c.d.i. on this. i will keep updating as i go. prob be slow on pic's ?, but ya'll will live !..lol.
  6. frame is in really good shape !, also, the muffler is all there !..lol mufflers on 300's are one part that always rust out along the bottom.
  7. already one step ahead of ya, will do what you say, file/grind down the rough spots on ring gear and pinion gear, i'm gonna re-use it. i will replace all bearings and seals though with new, after market. this guy is about 75-80 yrs old ?, has a farm near here, i doubt he'll be jumping his cows with it ?..lol. i'll do my very best to make it look good, run good, and stop. i already told him this was a budget build, he was ok with this. his main concern was, he wanted it to be 4x4. so i got this from cat fish, gonna sell it to this guy no more than 2k, and he said this was very fair.
  8. yeah, it needs a ton of love, but i will make her good again !. updates when i find time to post here ?!..lol
  9. thanks mel, maybe honda should tell all owners what this part is for ?..lol.
  10. yeah, i do not understand why they do not show this part on the fich ?.
  11. why don't you just follow the rules ?. pretty simple.
  12. just gonna say this once, these political post on here needs to stop. hate me if you want, but this thread has turned into nothing but political post, and this is not allowed !.
  13. slept sense then, lol. no, i do not have this atv model, and glad i don't !..lol. give it to honda to slap a part on their machines, and not tell you what it is !!..lol.
  14. i checked on the recoil fich, and that part was not on the list or picture ?, care to have your dealer tell you WHERE on the fich its located part wise ?.lol.
  15. 2002-2004 models ( for the trx450fm ) use an electronic switch, this switch on the throttle energizes the magnets at the front of the pinion shaft, when this happens, now the front clutch system in the front diff are engaged. every honda from 1988 to now, some how or another still has clutch disk in the front diff. they may not be designed the same ?, but they still work the same way. unless you shim like you did ?, or get the full locker ?, only other way you will make the steering easier is to use a 424 on the front drive shaft. reason: the front end is trying to spin the same speed as the rear end. when you have a system that has the 424 installed ?, you are disconnecting the front output shaft to the front differential, when this takes place, you no longer are matching the front and rear output speed.
  16. and some pizza too !..this gonna be awhile...lol.
  17. no, #10 is the bank angle sensor. i've gone through the service manual on here, and a crap load of micro fich's, it shows it as number # 37 on partzilla's page in the pic, but the parts list only goes to # 35..lol. i have no idea what it is ?, but if i had to guess ?, its some kinda heat sink or a relay of some sort ?, no where on honda's pages shows what it is.
  18. this is an air filter thread...lol.
  19. be my guest..more money i get to see u waste !..rofl.
  20. nope, its number # 37, and its not on the parts list ??.
  21. i've seen worse in my yrs of doing this. even the collar that goes on the pinion gear is missing ?, as well as the ring gear shims ?. some one has had this apart, and did not put it back together right..scary thought huh ?!..lol.
  22. with the float bowl off, ( make sure you have an inline cut-off on fuel line ) turn cut-off on, you should see plenty of fuel pouring out from float needle ?, if not ?, then i would say the tank is not venting .
  23. do these even have a fuel pump ?, most mowers are gravity fed, or vacuum fed.
