Never heard of sea foam deep creep around here.. I'll defiantly check on that one.

Deep Creep is the best buy for the money , I can get it from $7.50 - $9.00 a can depending where I go  , Kroil goes for $16 a can now days for the short can , Kroil  is as good as any

To darn expensive but it works. Second choice is  PB Blaster. I use Kano Kroil to clean and protect my rifle barrels. Much better than Hoppies #9. Can you say Weatherby 30/378 Mag.

Yes I can say it and I can also say I saw one blow up the action at the range. Parts of it hit me 10' away.

Holy Crap!   Don't believe I have ever fired a weapon immediately after cleaning it with Kroil. I swab the barrel after firing it when the barrel is still warm, then put the weapon away. Always with the muzzle down, so any residual oils can drain out. Helps any crud from draining into the action area and gumming things up.... Been around long enough to know anything can happen.... Most malfunctions I've witnessed were due to miss loading ammunition...... Never say never ...  Thanks for the Heads-up!

Sorry for the misunderstanding but it wasn't the cleaning. I was just referring to your gun. He was shooting factory ammo and I'm convinced one cartridge was undercharged resulting in a pressure spike. You could hear the difference.

I just bought the can of Kroil, never tried it before. Can't find it anywhere up here, had it shipped in from McMaster-Carr. I think that large can was $22 USD so $30+ Canadian

The Swepco 801 and 808 are about the best I've used, 801 being kind of general purpose and the 808 being the heavy duty if all else fails this should work, last resort penetrating oil, it's expensive, about the same as Kroil but much smaller can.

PB Blaster I've used a lot but it STINKS something awful.

Liquid Wrench is usually on sale and it seems to work pretty good.

I've had good luck with the WD-40 Specialist, regular WD-40 is better than nothing but only just.

The PL-100 I honestly know little about, haven't used it much.

I'm kind of curious about some of these other brands mentioned here. I'd like to test a bunch of them. Thinking about maybe putting a bunch of bolts together and throwing them in a bucket of ocean water for a few months haha.

I knew  about Kroil alredy , but  first seen it really work in action , when I was as service manger , guy was selling Kroil   stopped by for a demo , he had a container full of rusted  bolts with nuts on them , just as mac mentioned , he  stood them up right and sprayed each one  of the tip of the bolt with a different  penetrant ,the Kroil was the only one the leaked thru the threads of the rusted nut and  down the threads of the bolt , no other brand did it --- you know when you can see penetrants at work,  spray some on a bolt that is not frozen up , work it  couple of threads , tight and loose , then spray it again , a lot of times , you can unscrew the nut by hand after working it a bit back and forth with the juice on it

Acetone and ATF works best, but is a PITA mess

Kroil works good, but hard to find around here and expensive.

PB Blaster is the only one that I can get locally, and it works pretty good.

Wife HATES the smell of PB Blaster.  A few months ago I bought an old Warn upright winch (8274) from a guy in NE Arkansas.  We were up there shopping anyway, so we went by and picked it up in her newish Lexus.  I was prepared with some old mattress pads to wrap the winch in so it didn't get her car dirty, but the guy had soaked it in PB Blaster when he removed it from the old truck it had been on, so we didn't get a block from his house before she tore into me about the smell.

Luckily I had a buddy who lived close by, so I dropped it at his house and he brought it down in the back of his pickup when he came to visit.

I took about a dozen 5/16 bolts and nuts today and sand blasted them, they were zinc coated or whatever it is. Going to drill a piece of flat bar tonight and put the bolts through it. Tighten them up and dump them in ocean water lol, I guess I'll torque them to 15-20ft-lbs so I have a reference point, have to look up actual torque spec for 5/16 UNF.

I know similar tests have been done, seen it before on YT, just want to see first hand.
