You guys sure do know how to make a person feel welcome. Thanks oh400ex. It's really fancier than what I need but the price was right so I jumped on it. Here's a couple pics of it with some firewood that I was hauling today. I also wanted to thank everybody who helped me get my user name straightened out.

I use 91 octane premium non-ethanol gas in all my small engines, wheeler and boat. Lasts much longer than ethanol gas, not that any of it sits very long except the boat in winter. Only add Stabil to the boat before winter.

In general I add fuel stabilizer to my gas container. It is a 5 gallon. This way I know it is good for my 4 stroke stuff all year. I do the same with my 2 stroke stuff. Never had a issue with gas going bad here in Canada... Think that is going to change soon. So today I picked up some Seafoam and thought I would add it to my fuel. I know I am not going to see AMAZING results or anything as my stuff runs good as of now. As this stuff has been around for a while what do you guys think? I see you can add it to the oil also. Hope I did not open a can of worms. 🙂

Howdy everybody. I'm from Mt. Washington, Ky. and I've ridden dirt bikes since I've been in my teens and now I'm 65. I've had a Honda 200X (kinda wish I still had that one) and a Yamaha Blaster along the way. I've still got a 1999 Honda XR-250 but had not ridden it for many years until my son got it running awhile back. It just didn't feel right I guess because of my age and I decided to get something with four wheels under it. I wound up buying a 2017 Rubicon with power steering and a DCT. I did want the power steering but wanted a foot shift instead of the DCT. I found this one at a price that I couldn't pass up and it only had 34 miles and 10 hrs. on it. I'll be using it for pleasure and work around the house. I gave it a little workout today and was hauling some firewood. I might have to get another atv because when my 15 year old granddaughter is here I don't get to ride it very much. I'm looking forward to riding some long trails. Danny

All 400ex carbs newer than 04 have a screen in the carb inlet tube. Should look like this

This is great advice! I would add that an in-line fuel filter would not be a bad addition. Need a high flow one though.

Well crazy story.. at about 620pm wife & I cooking supper in the camper. I go outside to take my Rotties outside pee. I get to the fire pit & look to my left, ole bear walking rite at me. I yell bear! He take off into bush, I throw dogs in camper (thank god they didn’t see him) grab gun & go in pursuit.. I hear a branch snap & look to my left, there he is maybe 60 yards or so thru the trees. I took a shoot with the SKS loaded with Hornady 123g SST. Bear takes off like a corvette thru the woods. I gave chase, but hit !, no blood, hair or dead bear. I went back to where he was, & found his tracks from the sprint ripping up the moss, but no blood, hair ect... I circled the are out to at least 130yards. Nothing! No death moan NOTHING. I’m heading back in daylight to see if I can find anything.... oh rite, wierd thing.. fire going, radio on outside & generator running! Brave bear??

some guys say it's good to add it to oil..... i wouldn't but that's me .. as for ethenal gas all you need is stabil. sea foam is good, but most guys i know with carberator equipment go with stabil.

If its within spec by a healthy margin then I'd run it.
  10. 2 points
Well he sold it for $20,100! The bidder was in it at 5k and again at 10k before dropping the extra $100 on the other guy who apparently set a hard cap at 20k What's another hundred bucks when you are spending 20 grand? I'll never understand rich people...

Thank you for the effort! My understanding is that WP is/was an Austrian company that was absorbed by KTM a few years back. I think what I have here is pretty rare but I don't know if it's actually good or worth anything.
  12. 2 points
Ok so i cant find wp atv suspension for anything but a ktm? It also doesnt say anything about them rebuilding anything but dirtbike suspension anywhere online. There facebook doesnt show a single quad picture anywhere. And there is only one location in the unitedstates in california. All the rest are in austria. Which makes sense since ktm comes from austria.

Have had it every way possible . . . . like it stewed the best. Whole bear is cut for stew meat.

I'd measure the freshly honed bore before making that decision... ya never know, the bore might provide a perfect fit with an off-the-shelf piston kit and save ya some money.

Never sent any shocks out. I did have a set of tcs shocks that were rebuilt by jet suspension. They havent posted anything on facebook since like early 2018 so i dont trust sending them there. Im thinking my elkas are gunna go to BNR. They are local and there prices seem reasonable. I have never heard anything about WP. Im gunna check them out though. I know RocketRon does a good job. But he is more expensive.

I appreciate the vote of confidence. Im not saying i didnt have fun. I had a blast! And honestly im actually doing real good "injury wise" i feel great today. And i even spent the last few days sleeping in the camper. Which usually would require 800 mg of ibeprofin. So thats a win in itself. The plan for this winter is suspension. These elkas are getting sent off to be rebuilt and tuned. It is no doubt about it time.

Haha saying i could run more than 3 laps without being gassed out. On lap 4 my fingers were stuck in a gripping handlebar position. I had to force them out of lol. Im just flat out not in good enough shape. Maybe 10 years ago. Not anymore.

Could of nailed this guy this morning. Sleeping inside camper while wife was reading her book. I woke up to my male rotty lying on the floor huffing.. windows were open just a crack. Wife opens blind to see this guy. I have a bear tag.. wife wouldn’t let me have a rug this am lol. I scared him off with air horn & SKS...

I don't know what the hitch looks like on a Rubi , sure something can be done with it , them receivers that bolt to the hole where the ball goes are not too good to me ------- I welded a receiver tube into y 450 hitch , I have about 4 different styles of hitches to stick in

If you want a drink holder that will hold a Yeti sleeve , an a/c accumulator/dryer makes a good one , for free , the accumulators are changed every time the a/c compressor is changed so there are a lot of old ones out there to be had , the Yeti will work with cans or bottles ---- I find it is better for it to be solid mounted and not a swivel , the swivel will soak you

Hey Dan, glad you found us. There are a number of older guys around here so dont feel alone. I'm 68 and having a ball with my old Foreman. I know of one member pushing 80, so us youngsters are doing ok....lol

I'm new here and I just got through reading this thread and really enjoyed it. You guys have a lot of nice equipment. The only thing that I'd like to have that I don't is a front end loader for my tractor so I could scoop the wood up for splitting and just throw it right back in the bucket and take it to the woodshed. It may be in the future if I can find one for a good price that'll fit my tractor. I've got four chainsaws. Husqvarna 372XP, 346XP, 359 and a small Makita. The Makita is a rebadged Dolmar and it's very small and is fantastic for limbing. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't have an oiler adjustment and it goes through a lot of bar oil. I bought the 346XP after the epa required a cat muffler so I just bought a non cat muffler and then set the high rpm with a tach. I've got a sharpener that came from Northern Tools and I think it's a close copy of one of the Oregon sharpeners. I like it because I'm a lousy hand filer and I just sharpen several chains and change them out when one gets dull. My splitter is a 22 ton Huskee and it has split everything I've tried with it but I could use a little more oomph on some of the gnarly stuff. I have an old Fisher Grandpa Bear in the basement that I heat with. I've read that they're not very efficient and that's probably true but it sure does keep the house warm. Ain't nothin' like wood heat.

you might try ram mount ... this is the setup i have mounted to my front rack .. and you dont need to drill holes in the plastic https://www.rammount.com/

They have drink holders for atvs , and then you got the marine drink holders which are the same thing , I build my own , have a couple of different designs , PVC pipe works well

Glad you got it figured out. Stick around. If it were me. I would likely dump the fuel tank. Have a look inside and clean out if nessecary. To reintroduce crud right back into a just cleaned carb is a bummer. I put a double shot glass of Sea Foam in every non-ethanol tank of fuel.

I found the pdf for the 05-09. I cleaned the carb this weekend and I think that is all the quad needed. Thanks for the reply!

We are getting a good steady rain right now, Thank God, I hope it rains the rest of the day and into the night. Temp is at 47 degrees right now. Hope they can get a handle on this thing as it is supposed to start warming up tomorrow through the end of the week.

Thanks to all for the big welcome. I wish we could all get together for a ride. I might not be able to keep up with some of you younger guys but it wouldn't be from lack of trying. Danny

I've already saw that and I'll be going through the whole thread and adding some myself.

Helicopters are dropping water continuously on the ridge above my niece's house. So far has kept it at bay. They don't want it creeping back over the ridge and burning the side it started on.

This has been eating at me all nite... not saying I’m a sniper, but I don’t miss! I can hit a beer can at 100yards with the open sights on my SKS.. how I could miss this bear at 60-70 yards blows my mind! But I hope I did miss & not wound him. This really, really bothers me. Never had any incident like this in my life. It’s always bang flop, or bang drop in 25yards. Never lost an animal yet... just really eatin at me.

Sea foam is awesome to clean up an older engine. Suck er in a vacuum line.. keep er revved then kill it. Let er sit 1/2hr & fire up. You’ll smoke the neighborhood out!! Then she’ll purr like a kitten!!

well.... if you run good oil ... you don't have really worry about sludge aka Quaker state... you can do the same with dextrin auto trans fluid ... been there done it.
  43. 1 point
Definitely. After a quick hone if it measures within spec for 81mm would you go standard bore or up a half mm? Something else? Just curious what your personal preference would be. My understanding is there is plenty of meat on the bone for a bore.

Our doctor friend's house is gone. They lost everything. They had 20 minutes to get a few things out of their house other than that it is gone. It burned to the ground. Will keep you posted as far as my niece's house goes.

I would like to think so. But there were alot of high dollar full race build 450s there. Cant compare to a 20+ thousand dollar quad. And i dont expect to. But my little 440 was ripping and i was happy about that. Never went over 200 degrees on the oil temp. Was very happy with how it started when warm and when cold. The difference with this stroker is almost all in the upper end of the rpm. She pulls hard up there. The low end and torque feels almost the same as the 416. But you get her up near that rev limiter and you better hold on tight! LoL

i never seen it. but i have put out other peoples fires, that they left at the lake, an didn't totally put the fire out. it scares me. just a thing, from when i was a kid. a stump root was set on fire, an was left alone, for three days, or so, i had trouble sleeping at night, cause i was worried about this. when i start a fire, i just gotta make sure the ember's are out, before i can sleep. all of them. never know when the wind will pick up, stoke/help start a fire.

Is that RTV silly'cone all smushing out the rocker cover , think maybe the same amount is smushing out the inside and will wind up blocking the case screen , which is already , might be clogged up , hmmmmm !!!

Welcome again , was thinking since you mentioned you are going to do repairs and getting it running after sitting up , the best place to start you a thread might be under Custom Builds + Restorations , we also have a Sport ATV Section broken down into three sub sections ,where you want , it will get read where every you start a thread , give the year and model of what your working on and your problems and thoughts , pics of what you are working on are nice
